Disney bus from DHS to Contemporary to Wilderness Lodge

I have never used Disney transportation and I'm stumped on one day of our trip. I would appreciate the help.

We will be leaving DHS around 6pm to eat dinner at the Contemporary Resort and hopefully watch the Wishes fireworks at 10pm (I've heard the Contemporary has a viewing area with music piped in). Will the buses still be running after the fireworks from the Contemporary Resort to get back to the Wilderness Lodge where we are staying?

Fireworks is not the end of the night at MK.

Contemporary to WL:
- monorail to MK and catch the boat or bus to WL
- Walk across the street to MK, catch the bus or boat
- Boat from Contemporary to WL direct (not sure if this stops running when dark)

Worst case scenario, have the doorman grab you a cab but MK will still be in full swing to get a bus/boat from there.

Your best option is the boat which runs from CR directly to WL. The boat runs until 11:30pm.

You could also walk to MK and take the boat or bus from there to WL. It usually takes at least an hour to get everyone home after MK closes, so if you leave CR at the end of Wishes, you should easily make MK before transportation shuts down. In fact, you'll probably hit it right in the middle of the exit crowds.

In order to take advantage of seeing the fireworks and hearing the music pipped in at the Contemporary is to view them from the 15th floor California Grill Lounge (you must be dining there to view the Fireworks from at location). So make sure you have made reservation at the Cali. Grill The music which accompanies the fireworks is piped into the lounge so guests don't miss a thing. Or you can see them from the Top of The World lounge at Bay Lake if you are a DVC member

You can also watch from the balcony at the north end of the concourse level at CR (4th floor where the shops are located). Last time we watched from there, the music was also piped in. No ADR needed to watch from that balcony.

I thought the observation deck on the 4th floor also had the music piped in.

You guys have provided exactly what I needed. We are dining at the quick service café at the Contemporary and doing some shopping. I had heard about the 4th floor deck which is exactly what we are going to do. It sounds like we will have no problems getting back to the WL before transportation ends.

We are going to the Contemporary Resort for dining and fireworks so we can check it out for the next time we visit WDW. It is somewhere I've always wanted to stay and I thought the fireworks would be an additional selling point.

Be forewarned - the Pirate Cruise uses the Contemporary dock, and when trying to get from CR to WL after fireworks, we've sometimes had to wait 15-20 minutes while they unload the Pirate boats (but it's still shorter that going to MK and taking bus or boat to WL from there, and you might even get a "hello" or brief photo op with a pirate or Peter Pan).
