disney bus accidents

We were at WDW last week and heard people on our bus talking about one of the hotel buses having an accident the night before. Apparently no one was hurt because it was pulling to a stop, but the people had to remaine on the bus for awhile. Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

I have not, and I have never heard of anyone else who has. I would not worry about it too much. Of course accidents happen from time to time, but they are few and far between.

We have never had a traffic accident, but the Disney driver did shut my son's arm in the bus door once. Very Scary!

One of the Downtown Disney buses that takes folks around from the DTD hotels caught fire recently. It was right at the corner by DTD. DD and I were just leaving the West Side and got caught in the traffic behind it. Everyone got off the bus okay, but the entire back end of the bus burned. It was such a hot fire, it scorched all the little bushes at the nearby corner and they had to be yanked out. The good news is that no ones luggage burned up on this one unlike the cruise line buses that have burned.

As for accidents, they do happen but rarely. I travel the WDW roads on a daily basis and have seen very few buses involved in accidents. I've seen plenty of cars in accidents.

I also think Disney has a much stricter version of an accident than an average person. We witnessed a "bus accident" in August at MK. The driver obviously miss judged and hit the curb on his way out. I couldn't believe it...security came over immediately, they unloaded the whole bus and interviewed people and than required they divide into 2 buses (they didn't want any standers now for the ride). We switched from the BC line to BW to get out of there, so I can't tell you how long they waited but the guests who got off the 1st bus thought they were making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Really amazing if you think about it. Those busses are on the roads everday, all day long. I would expect quite a "large number" of accidents.

I had a much delayed trip to MGM from AKL once because a car had hit a Disney bus bound for AKL that was pulling out of Blizzard Beach. Apparently they had to dispatch another bus to AKL to pick up those of us who were waiting there. We did the stop at Blizzard Beach, of course we had to wait in traffic around the accident, and the passengers were still on the bus involved at that time. Most of the damage appeared to be to the car, didn't look like there were any injuries.

All the busing around WDW I have done, that's the only time I've seen a bus in an accident. I've seen one broken down on the side of the road before.
