I am really needing to make som emoney in the next month to hold on to my super member status so am thinking I will try the Disney Book Club...However after reading the Membership Agreement, I'm not sure I totally understand....so here's my questions:

"we'll send you 7 FREE storybooks and FREE Backpack, along with an additional storybook, Disney-Pixar Cars, for just $4.99 plus $4.99 shipping and handling on the entire shipment."

So this means my credit card will be charged 9.98 correct?

"be sure to check the Bonus Book box to get an extra savings of two more Disney Storybooks for only $3.99"

Or will I be charged the 9.98 plus this 3.99?

"When you keep Disney-Pixar Cars, pay just $4.99 (plus $4.99 shipping and handling) and you'll become a member of the Disney Wonderful World of Reading club"
Is this refering to the same 4.99 plus 4.99 from above or a new 4.99?

Also I've heard various reviews of these books, so if I'm not happy and I do return the books, how much is refunded? Any? All?

Thanks so much!!

I did this offer about a month ago. My credit card was charged the $9.98 for the Cars book. I also received for free the 7 other books and the backpack.

I did NOT check the box for the additional books at the $3.99 savings price. You would be charged the additional $3.99 per book.

If you want to cancel, you have 2 options.

Cancel your membership and keep the Cars book and keep the initial $9.98 charge.
or
Cancel your membership and ask for a refund. This is what I did and received the full $9.98 refund. They may ask you to return the Cars book at their charge, however for mine, they told me to donate the book to a local library. The other 7 were mine to keep.

It was very easy and a quick $10. This was the 2nd trial I had every done and was quite happy with it!

I on the other hand had a hard time with this offer. It was my first scholastic one and kept hearing how easy it was. When I called she said I had already paid for cars and couldn't return it. I told her no it said I could return it but she was adamant that I had paid for it initially and could not get that back. So I ended up paying the 3.99 and got 7 books. Not bad but she was a very rude lady. The whole phone call was bad. O, well. It did make me some money and I got 7 books. I may have kept the scholastic offer but the books aren't that great for the cost after the initial offer. It was a huge jump in price.

Thanks so much...I think I may sign up for it tonight...my daughter loves to read so it would be nice if she likes them and I find them worth the price.

Hope mine fares well....I just attempted to sign up however when I submitted I got a page not found...now I'll have to guess whether or not I signed up I guess??!! Maybe I can go check the credit card and see if it was charged...

I was under the impression that if you keep the initial $9.98 charge and the cars book, you were then bound to their book club, with 4 shipments or something.

I was thinking of trying this, but if we don't like the quality of the books (i've heard so so things about), then I would want to keep the Cars one (my boys fave), and be charged the $9.98, but am I stuck with some minimum membership requirement then, or can I cancel as soon as I get the cars books if I'm not happy?

There are a few other threads relating to this if you do a search. However, they basically say the same thing I did in my first post. I read my printed out directions and it does say that if you keep the Cars you agree to become a member - perhaps that's if you don't call back to cancel. From everything I've heard though, if you call to cancel then you don't become a member.

I would do it again - and I'm a chicken at doing trials!

Good luck! :goodvibes

I've had problems w/ Scholastic in the past and wouldn't be willing to do anything w/ them even if I'm getting paid to do it!

Scholastic books used to be fun for me when I was in school so I signed up my DD years ago for a book club and kept a membership for a few months then DD lost interest. I called to cancel the membership got a cancellation number and they kept sending me books which I sent back (at their expense). The books wouldn't stop coming.

Finally I just started keeping them and not paying. I ended up w/ about 4 more books. I got a few nasty grams from Scholastic. I called to tell them that I had the cancellation number and that I considered anything they sent me to be junk mail and would neither be returning nor paying for it any longer. Their rep was very nasty but said she did have the cancellation # in the computer so she couldn't argue. Finally the books stopped. Big headache!

The books themselves were good quality. I just wasn't happy w/ the customer service.
