A very interesting discussion. I myself, as a huge Disney World enthusiast and lifelong park guest, have been wondering if the company is taking the brand loyalty aspect for granted. I think it has been said elsewhere on the boards that perhaps the Disney Parks people have confidence in having visitor attendance based on loyalty to the classic Disney characters and the Disney reputation (and I am wholeheartedly one of those people, believe me! There is no other magic like the one Disney makes)
...but I think some re-invigoration into the various parks is definitely needed and well worth it. For repeat visitors who know the parks really well, I think it would only serve to make them feel even more confident in the Disney brand if they see growth and improvement. And for people who are not so much into Disney as a whole but theme parks and maybe certain types of attractions or characters, it will keep them coming back, when they otherwise might not!
All that being said, I'm sure Disney is not suffering from lack of park attendance. But they should definitely keep up with the times when it comes to Epcot and DHS. I love Epcot, I really do...but there are things even I can't ignore: the circle vision films in the various country pavilions are really interesting and cultural, but are getting a bit outdated. Ellen's Energy Adventure...I mean it is unique in its set up, but an entire 45 minutes of my day at the park for that ride? Not worth it.
