I posted this on the Disney Tips board and didn't get even one response! SO not like you all!! Please can anyone offer some input?

Hello all!

My kids' school is having an auction to raise money. They are asking people to donate themed baskets. i was thinking, "Hmmmm...what should I do?" Then I thought, "Why a Disney basket, of course!" So now the question is what do I put inside? Since the auction is in May and many people go to Disney during the summer, maybe I can do a "Getting Ready for your Disney Trip" basket. Maybe a guide book or two. I thought of putting a few Disney dollars in there, but now that the Disney stores around me are closed, don't know where I can get those. Maybe I can put in some Disney DVDs or maybe some Disney stamps...all to set the mood. But I need some help thinking...anyone have any ideas? And remember, cost is a factor...
Oh...does anyone know where I can get those ears that go on the car antenna?

Thoughts?

I would check on ebay! I don't know if they'll have what you need, but it's worth checking. Kmart sells Disney, if you have one near you. Also Wal-Mart. You might try finding some Disney suckers??? ::MickeyMo Good luck!

Go with a school theme. Buy some Books about Disney (travel, trivia, hidden mickeys, etc.), pens, pencils, notepads, travel mug and maybe some magnets. Just off the top of my head.
Good Luck. :flower1:

And, don't forget the Dollar Tree! They have Disney items.

You could always throw in some scrapbooking supplies, bought at Michael's with a 40% off coupon. They have rubber stamps and stickers. Plus a 12x12 Mickey album, which would probably be too big for the basket. A small red one would work. Also, Hobby Lobby periodically puts their stickers on sale for 40 - 50% off, and they carry Disney.

How about some Disney Little Golden Books? Wal-Mart should carry them, and parents might be more likely to bid.

Just putting it together sounds like fun!!! Enjoy!

donated tickets to disneyland and dca. They also donate hotel rooms. I know they contact disney directly about the donations. You might also see if any other hotels in the area will donate some rooms. Maybe see if the transportation people will donate some trips from the airport. To go about getting donations, I contact the vendor and introduce myself and do a big sales pitch about how people from your area love disney, you love disney and have gone to WDW etc. You get the idea, then i finish with can I send a letter soliciting a donation. After the letter goes out, i call back and at least 50% of the time I get things donated. I am actually surprised at how easy it is. Good luck, I have done lost of baskets for my kids school.

Take a look at disneydeals.com. They usually have good prices on their discontinued Disney stuff. I've bought a few things in the past.

Also, if you can figure out how to get them... The brochures from each park with the maps inside.

I know you can order the antenna toppers from mouseshoppe.com. They are full price, but sometimes run sales.

Maybe a pin lanyard and some starter pins. Might get those off ebay.

Good luck on the fund raising... I'd bid on it!

I'd cross-post this on Cooking, Crafting, and Scrapping as well. I'm sure some of those creative folks will have great advice.

I did one last October for our school. I was lucky though and collected all through the year. Whenever ds had a clearance sale I would buy it. I ended up with Disney dollars, disney dolls, light spinners. note books, pens, lollipops, guide book, antenna topper, key ring etc. It was lots of fun!

How about an autograph book & pen & then Disney stickers for the kids to decorate the pages with. None of those things are really expensive & you can find the stickers at Target, Walmart or scrapbooking stores. :earsgirl:
