Ok on my last trip to Disney I left my pass at home. She asked me a few questions like when was the last time you where in the parks. So I told her. And then she started spouting off about, you entered MK at this time, received a fastpass at this time and this time and then I see you went to Epcot then later that evening to MGM.

I was like wow you guys really do know it all. She said oh yeah they can track your credit card charges that you made, room check in and when you enter and leave the room, any charges made to the room or if you had packages delivered to your room when they got there.

I dont think these are a bad thing just pretty neat if you ask me. So even at Disney someone knows everything you do.

I think they could even know a lot more than they do. And they keep close track on many items from a marketing perspective. The total data is probably what they look at, more so than individuals. (Unless there is reason ;) .)

I agree with the OP. Doesn't bother me, kind of cool how they know so much.

Since I work for big brother at my day job, it's only right for me to vacation with little brother. My life's an open book between these 2.

When your ticket is scanned they can tell when you bought the ticket, when, how many times you had to have it reprinted, and what parks you went to and when. They cannot, however, tell you anything about your fastpasses.... that is TRULY a new one!

Why wouldn't they be able to track fastpasses? I remember reading guests' stories of having been waved into a park when their cards wouldn't read at the turnstiles only to have problems with fastpasses: the machines didn't think the guests were really in the park because they hadn't been read at the gate.

The JHM article gives me pause.

I kind of figured they would be able to track all that and in theory have it in an accessible place - since you need named ticket admission media to enter the parks, there is no getting around it

In terms of buying habits, your only alternative is to use cash or mickey dollars. Between your credit card company and Disney, they know where you spend every $0.01 at WDW

Where things get scary is if certain people (i.e. corps or govt) use the data for 2nd order effects - for example, ah Mr Smith, I see you bought Hamburgers 7 times on your last trip, let's discuss your health situation and maybe even hit you with an eating bad surcharge. Sounds far fetched but really would not be that hard to do.....

I don't know why they wouldn't be able to tell you that. Anytime your ticket goes into any machine I would assume it's being tracked. I bet they can tell you how many times each room key opened the door at your resort and exactly when that happened too. What they may not be able to do is tell you if you actually used the fastpass but I have no problem believing that they can tell you if you've received one or not.

I have a feeling most of this on the thread is speculation.

I can back up eeyore0062 on this one. The only thing eeyore forgot is that you can also view how many other tickets were bought on the same transaction. :)

Same thing happened to us about CM spouting off info like that at guest services. Reminded me of some of the stuff in those Left Behind books.
