Disney Announces New Star Wars Lands for DL and DHS

Marvel has lots of characters that Disney can use without the Marvel name. There is no debate over that. Universal has the rights to the Marvel name in Orlando theme parks but don't be surprised if some Marvel characters are used in WDW theme parks and in character dining in Disney Springs.

Sure they could find some 3rd tier Marvel characters, but most of the characters people would care about are tied up by Universal. The problem is the clause which gives Universal exclusive use of characters related to characters used by Universal. That means they could sue to try to block Disney from using any character related to the Avengers since IOA features several characters in the Avengers. Even the Guardians of the Galaxy were apparently in some time travel story arc with the Avengers at some point. So Universal could claim Walt Disney World couldn't use them in an attraction.

The biggest one they could use is guardians of the Galaxy. I don't see them doing too much with that yet.

Do you guys think when Universal loses the rights (if ever) that they will basically keep the rides the same but do a paint job and change some set pieces?
In theory (and only in theory), getting rid of Marvel Super Hero Island can make room for ...well, the skys the limit!

However, I hope thats not for a long time. SpiderMan is one of the greatest simulator rides ever created before Forbidden Journey.

Couldn't they just leave Universal being able to use the comic versions and allow Disney to use the cinematic versions? Or is it because they don't want to create confusion of the branding by having it in Disney and Universal parks?

The idea of Disney making a sole land dedicated to the cinematic universe they have created is too much to handle. It would work so well and cohesively!

Well because it's not going to happen anytime soon I don't even want to speculate.

No, we must speculate. We have years before Star Wars and Toy Story open. Speculation will get us through the days!

Well I don't want this thread to go off on a marvel contract debate and about universal it should stay on the topic of Star Wars land.
