Disney, an Aniversery and Morning Sickness? Update post #48 p.4

We bought bright blue luggage for the same reason! Great TR, and congrats on the pregnancy! When are you due? You should stop by the Moms to Be thread on the Community Board.

April 8th so quite awhile to go, I'll be 6 weeks pregnant at the start of Disney and almost 8 weeks when we head home. Amusingly enough my due date is Easter, which is only amusing when you relize my mom had me on Easter in 1978, so the irony of me having my first on Easter and going to Disney pregnant is fairly amusing (not that I expect to have the baby on my due date, but it is amusing none the less).

Congrats on your pregnancy. We were in Disney last Aug. when I was just about 5 weeks along or so.
Take breaks, drink lots of water, and enjoy it!
Will be heading there again this Aug. 18th with DS who is 3 and DD who is 4 months!!!
:cheer2:

Congratulations! and count me in, i can't wait to read the rest of your report!

If you guessed procrastination you win!

So yesterday I spent the day reading the messageboards and ordering water on Staples.com. Okay so I spent all of 10 minutes ordering the water, but it still counts as preparing for the trip. We now have 4 cases of water that should be waiting for us when we check in Monday, and it only cost $25, whereas buying $25 worth of water at Disney would get me about 12 bottles, so I think I come out ahead on that deal.

I also conned my husband into going to Target, because who can resist Target? (Not me if you are curious), I picked up a few of the various items needed as toiletries for Disney, so we are sort of done there, but still need to pick up snacks for the plane and hotel room. So with that done I checked out the baby aisles since who can resist, and found three winnie the pooh outfits (look Disney related) on sale, so I had to pick those up too for the future baby, hopefully it is a girl though because otherwise the baby is going to look a bit off in the pink outfits I bought.

Today I spent more time reading the boards, and no time packing, shocking isn't it. I really do need to start doing laundry though so that I don't have to do it all Sunday afternoon (one guess as too what I'm going to be doing Sunday afternoon). Disney is getting closer now only 5 days till I am relaxing with the Giraffes.

Up next: Will she ever pack? or do laundry?

First, Congratultions on expecting!! I've done Disney 5 months pregnant during a hot October trip. Water is essential. Not only to drink but to spray on you and eventually just pour all over yourself. That is how I combat the Disney heat- soak myslef.

I hope you're packed by now and have a wonderful trip!

The answer is apparently she will before she was really planning too. So yesterday we didn't do much at least related to Disney, talked to hubby a bit about our plans but other then that, nothing else really. So that brings us today, and hubby really looking at the new airline security measures. At the moment they are still allowing electronics so that probably won't change by our flight on Monday. However, he is concerned that it may change by our flight back, and there is no way he is checking the laptop or camera stuff. So, he has decided "Hey maybe we should just drive to Disney instead."

Now I don't drive, to be fair I'll drive short distances, but I won't drive long distances especially long distances that involve the highway. So it is up to him what he wants to do, fly which is 2.5 hours in the air, or drive which is about 18 hours in the car. So he decides he'll be more comfortable driving. Not a problem for me though I prefer the 2.5 hours in a plane to the 18 hours in the car, especially since I have the whole need to go pee a lot more often thing going on with being pregnant and all.

So I put random laundry in the washer, and I'll do another load when this one is done, so clothes should be clean. I then start a nice email discussion with my parents. See we live in Maryland, my parents live in Georgia. Georiga is a little more then halfway through the drive, if we stop at either their house or the lake house, we don't have to pay for a hotel, which is a bonus. So they're at the Lake House this weekend with my grandfather. Not a problem we'll head that way on Saturday, spend the night and continue on Sunday. Okay next question do we want to drive all the way to Georgia on Saturday, hmmm my grandparents live in Richmond VA, so we could drive down there tonight and cut 3 hours off the trip. Sounds like a plan. So the currentl plan is we'll pack and head out tonight. Stopping in Richmond at my grandparents (free lodging is nice, gas prices are less nice). Then Saturday we'll drive down to the Lake House (free lodging being nice again). Sunday early afternoon (so we have time to visit) we'll head to Disney and find somewhere to spend the night, hmm maybe I should see if I can get a room for one night at Pop or AllStars, hmm, I'll have to check with hubby). Then Monday we'll start our vacation, yay! So trip down is set.

Now trip back still needs to be worked out, but most likely we'll leave on Thursday the 24th (no clue what time our flight was at 9pm, but no doubt we'll leave much earlier then that, or we may just wait till Friday to leave, who knows) drive up to Georgia (stay with parents again, parents rock when they have a house semi on your route). Then drive the rest of the way up on Saturday or Sunday (probably stop in North Carolina, though maybe head to Richmond, depending on how much driving hubby feels like doing) and get home Sunday or Monday. What joy! It means we're adding about 6 extra days to our vacation for driving. Oh well I don't mind the car at least.

So now I get to go through the packing at the last minute thing 3 days earlier then planned, yay or something! I figure we'll probably stop at Target on our way out and pick up snacks and anything else we need for the trip. The nice part of the change is we have the car, the bad part is it is gonna take a heck of a lot longer to get down there.

Up Next: On the Road, or almost on the Road at least.

:thumbsup2 Have a great trip, can't wait to hear all about it when you get back! Congratualtions on the pregnancy

Hi Neighbor! I live in Columbia too and have a Boston Terrier who loves the local Pet Smart. Congratulations on the pregnancy. Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Fun thread! Hope your Babymoon is/was great! I'm sure it'll be nice to see your mom and grandparents. (Especially with the latest news!) We certainly enjoyed WDW pre-kids and still love it! We may even take a short trip with no kids again one day. lol.

Thanks, and if you see a cute Jack Russell Terrier (Parson Russell really) heading into daycamp at PetSmart with a long dark haired guy in black, that is probably my husband dropping off K-line :).

Anyways thanks all for the congrats, we have made it safely to Disney and finally got online access since today is one of our down days.

8/11: When I last left you I was frantically doing laundry and getting ready to head out to Disney, driving instead of flying. Hubby left work early and got home around 2pm, and we went out shopping to get all the last minute supplies we would need. We then got home, where I called my grandparent's again and got my grandmother, I told her we'd be at her house around 9pm. Since we were figuring on leaving around 6pm. We get packed and ready to go, the car is loaded by 7pm. We head out stopping to get dinner and get a few forgotten things at Target, so we get on the road around 7:30pm (a bit later then planned). We head down to Richmond and I call my grandmother to tell her we'll be there closer to 11pm. Get to their house around 11. Talk to my grandparents for a bit before we all head to bed. Now my grandparents guest room is a day bad and pull out trundle, which is okay, but not really how you want to start your aniversery trip, on the other hand it is free, so we can't complain. We wake up, spend some time with my grandparents and getting ready and are on the road by 11:30am.

We then start driving down 95. And driving, and driving, and stopping for pee breaks, and driving, and peeing and driving and driving and peeing. Yes that was most of the trip. Get off on 20 to head towards my parent's lake house. Get there around 8pm and everyone is there, my sister, brother, his girl friend, my parents, my grandfather, and my aunt and uncle, all we're missing is my sister and brother in law and my cousins. So we have a nice dinner, hang out and talk awhile. Agree to go to my aunt's 50th birthday party in September, hey we have a bunch of credit for Southwest and it flies to Hartford so free trip (well already paid for at least). For bed we get stuck in the theatre on the air matress. Now I hate air matresses and hubby doesn't like them much better, we prefered the twin bed and trundle from the night before, oh well. In the morning we wake up everyone gets ready and we go to brunch around noon (okay so it was more of a lunch). We get back and are on the road by 2pm. We also learn my parents are out of town the weekend we are heading back so we'll just take 95 straight back, since it is faster anyways.

So we start driving the back roads to get to Macon and 75. We're driving and driving and driving and finally make Macon. Get on 75 and head down to Florida. More driving and driving and peeing and driving and peeing. Oh we also call Disney Reservations to see if there is room at Pop for one night. Since we have debated staying at Pop we decide one night there would let us know how it was and if we could deal with it. There was room so we booked one night at Pop. And then we drove some more. And more, and kept driving. We finally made Pop around 9pm. Not bad, overall. We get in and wait for 40 minutes or so to check in. We then head to the Food Court for dinner. Overall, it was around a 2 and a half star meal, good mall food court food. Headed back to the room and fell asleep quite easily.

Coming Next: Thoughts on the Pop, and checking into AKL.

Wednesday is our Epcot day, we didn't get to do much Epcot last week, so it is our day to finish off the park. We mostly finished of MK on Sunday night during extra magic hours, though we might go back on Thursday to hit pirates again, though I doubt it.

Monday August 14th:

We woke up in the morning, it was fairly quite in our room, we had gotten one that faced the lake area, which was nice, since we didn't have to worry about swimming pool noises. Went to the food court and had breakfast, it was decent again, not amazing, but okay. Then we headed too the shop, bought a few pins, I got a cool tinkerbelle messenger bag, a pair of Tigger earings and a nice pirate themed pin lanyard. We headed back to the room packed up, moved everything downstairs to the car and headed back to the main lobby. We hadn't gotten a quick check out bill, so we went to the front desk after waiting in line awhile and checked out.

Overall I'd give the Pop 3 stars, not the best hotel I've ever stayed in, but not bad in price, size or comfort for what you are paying at Disney. We'd stay there again, and if they finish the second side with the family suites we would definately stay there again, since two rooms are so much nicer then one. Overall, we learned we could definately stay there again without a problem, though a slightly nicer room won't be a bad thing either. We did really enjoy the location we were in and didn't see a reason to go for the prefered rooms, since the walk to the main building was all of 3 minutes even from where we were.

After checking out we headed over the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Getting to the front area, you could tell it was completely different from the Pop. There were luggage people waiting to help you with your luggage and the valets were ready to park your car for you. We decided to take advantage of the Valet, and after unpacking our very full car, we headed inside to check in. Checking in was quick and painless. We then headed up to our room. We waited about 30 minutes for our luggage to arrive and then hung out in the room a short while longer deciding our plans for the day.

Next up: Mara and Animal Kingdom the true start of the vacation

We're home, made it back last night. I'll continue my posting shortly, I took notes while on vacation, so I have a roguh outline of what we did, how we felt about various things and food options. Overall though we had fun, even though the pregnancy definately made some things more challenging or none occuring.
