Disney actually called me about my 2013 package e-mail

My family & I are trveling Jan 2013, I have already booked the room only just waiting for pkgs as well. I am scheduled to make my ADR's July 22. That's 180 out but what is the +10? :confused3

We plan to go Jan 2013 as well but I don't want to have to call back to add MYW package. I like having everything done all at once. So hopefully they release the info soon.

180 plus 10 means that on the date that is 180 days from the first day of your stay, you can make ADRS for your full stay up to 10 days. Works only if you have a Disney resort confirmation number. Otherwise it's 180 days from each day you want to dine.

How are some people get room only bookings and/or quotes, when the website isn't letting me do that? Are you calling?

anyone can make ADRS at 180 days whether or not they have a room reservation. They just won't be able to do 180 plus 10.

For us, it seems backwards to make dinning reservations first. Often the resort cost is what dictates when we visit, then we decide which hotel based on cost and availability. We've tried every which way to estimate this ahead of the released rates, but we can never come to a decision. I imagine that in such a cost conscious time that more families feel this way too.

You can make a 2013 room only reservation by calling the reservation line. (if you know the week and hotel for your stay) But my understanding is that they only "hold" the room for you. Some people have been contacted later with the price for their selection. But I've heard of other who haven't.

If anyone has more information, please share.

I don't know why it would surprise me that they called me since I have e-mailed Disney before and gotten a call, but I am still really surprised they would actually not just e-mail me but call me about an e-mail I sent them on Sunday.
It seems Disney's trend is to call rather than send a reply email for customer complaints. I would speculate based on previous responses across the board is that a phone call isn't as easily admissible in court as an email should a promise fall through :)

It feels like better customer service, but in actuality it is plausible deniability :rotfl:

It is annoying and unlike any other vacation planning in the world...like what other vacation package isn't available to book 6 months out? We are going Jan 6 and it's killing me as well. Hoping for soon enough.

I booked my Oct 2012 trip in July of 2011. I was playing around with rooom only rates and it let me add dining and tickets...so hopefully it will be out soon!

I booked for March 2013 on Monday and the new rates have been updated in the system. You can make a room only reservation by phone and you will pay the deposit based on the 2013 rates. The rate for POR was $12 more per night over the 2012 rate for the same week. The CM had no idea when the package rates would be out but stated that she was surprised that they were not out yet.

Why dont they want our $$$$$$$?
:upsidedow
I just want to know what I am looking at for a total for our 1st week of March trip. I can do my best to figure out an approx amount. But I want it set in stone. My ADR date isnt til late August, so that doesnt worry me. Too much LOL!
I kinda figured last year when they released in June it was because of the 180days out. Which is their own rule so why not accomodate people to use it? I guess I would be upset too if I wanted to book a prepaid meal and had no dining. Furstrating to say the least. Good luck people... keepign my fingers crossed for every Sunday :goodvibes
Does anyoen think the UK prices will reflect ours? And my goodess WDW... We like to plan just as much as the brits do :)

While I won't make any assumptions.. Room only and package rates for the coming year are usually released together. I doubt very much that whatever rates currently showing for 2013 are correct in their systems.

You CAN book room only by calling right now, you'll boot at the highest rate for that room/season based on 2012 rates and when the correct rates come out, they'll revise accordingly.

Remember, a room only booking must be CANCELLED and rebooked to create a package. Not a huge deal but worth remembering.

Typically up til 2011, the rates came out in August, last year they were way early getting them out in June. I wouldn't expect that every year .. My honest expectation for the rates is mid-July.

Once your 180 day is open, you can book dining reservations regardless of having a reservation or not. You can book those one day at a time if it's a high priority for you.

No this is not true. In July 2010 they released the 2011 room rates, but only by phone. You could not book online or book a package until August. It has been the same the last three years. First they are available by phone, then online as packages, and then about 2 weeks later the AAA, interline and TA discounts are released.

I called expecting to pay last year's rate and when she gave me the total, I asked what rate that was. She replied that it was the 2013 rate. The rates for next year were updated in their system and the totals that she was giving me for deposit and room balance were the rates set for 2013. Could she be incorrect? It certainly would not be the first time that misinformation was given, but since the rate was an increase over last year and she gave me a room balance based on that rate, I would think that it is correct. :goodvibes

Sounds like my explanation is out of date. Wouldn't be the first time. Hey.. the mods can learn too right?

I will say -- that's even worse than their old system. Of course, I doubt they care about my opinion! LOL

lol yeah but they could have sent your standard "your opinion is very important to us, thank you for your e-mail!" :P

Your basicallly correct and booking last years rate still applys until they make the next years rates available by phone. Of course, nobody knows when this will happen. They don't advertise it, and only people that call and try to book a room will know that the next years room rates are out. I have never understood why people book a room only and then cancel and book a package. It seems like a waste of time. If you want a package just wait. Availability never becomes a issue until they release discounts anyway.
