Disney 3 month pregnant or Disney with a 4 month old?

I want to ride the rides too! :)

So, we decided on an after baby is born trip, I am due end of June (but expect baby in July - my babies like to bake a little longer) so I will have a 3-4 month old on our next trip and am so excited! We will be travelling with the new baby, a 3 year old, 4 1/2 year old and a 12 year old and have no concerns - we prefer the baby to come with us then for me to not be able to ride the fun rides!
The last time we went we brought a 8 month old, 2 year old and 9 year old and it was so easy with the baby that we figure the younger the more he/she sleeps anyhow. And I second the sling - even hubby wore her on rides and throughout the parks - it was the best trip of our lives! Good luck with your desicion!

I agree that I would want to ride all the rides, so I would wait until after the baby comes. That way you wont be feeling bad and big and you will get to ride everything you want to. I cant imagine going and not being able to ride my favorite rides!!! That would be torture. I think traveling with a baby is actually easier.

If you are nursing, the baby is carried in a sling, and it's not too hot, going with the baby should be fine. You can nurse on all those dark rides and no one would notice. Just make sure the baby doesn't overheat. If you are using bottles, then you have to think about whether or not it is worth it.

We have taken DS twice at 3 months and 5 months and he is on the bottle. No problems at all. I just packed a cooler bag and brought a bottle in my hand on Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Spaceship Earth etc. So nursing vs bottle would make no difference to me. I also went at 3 months pregnant and really did not feel well. At 6 months we went to Disneyland and I felt great. Both of these trips were in cooler weather. Like others have said if it was summer I would probably not go pregnant.

I wouldn´t hesitate to go now. I went to Disneyland Paris when I was 14 weeks along and was fine. We drove for 18 hours to get there and did a lot of walking while there. I didn´t have a problem at all. There were a couple of rides I couldn´t go on but that was o.k. I had a 2 year old along with me anyway.

Have fun, whenever you go. And good luck with your pregnancy.

i havent read all the other posts but from my exp. i would much rather BE pregnant and take the older boys, than be with a 4 mo old and take the older boys.

I took my 4 mo. old a few years ago and its wasnt hell but it limited us ALOT!!! Your older ones would have a lot more fun prob. without that added worry. kwim?

I went at 7 mos pregnant- not a big deal at all. The weather was really nice and we took it easy.

We are also planning to go with the baby in May (so he will be about 3 mos old). I'm no apprehensive at all about it. My friend lived in Orlando for a while so she'd been taking her baby since he was weeks old and never had any trouble with him.

I'm sorry , but I too did not read thru all the others, so don't know what everyone else is saying. But assuming you feel good, (I never got morning sickness-loved being pregnant until the end) I would with out a doubt go now being pregnant , I would not want to bring my newborn to Disney. So many things you would have to think about , not to mention bring with you, all the extras! And I personally don't know to many 4month old who sleep thru the night all the time.. So right there alone for me would be the deal breaker, there is noway I would be in 1 room with all of us and a new born who you are up with all night! That doesn't sound like a vacation to me! IMHO...
lots to think about! Good Luck and Congrats :)

It was fun. For the rides I couldn't go on, I took a breather on a bench and dh took over. We're going again this March with my DS who will be 7 month's. For some reason, I kept getting a cold while pg with my son and I was sick the entire week in Disney but I wasn't that bad. We still had a ball.

We'll see which is better My other 2 kids are 5 and 2 1/2 :)

We are SOOOOOOOOOO excited. I don't even know how I talked DH into it. I wish we were going for more then 4 nights.

I took my 5 month old and we had a fantastic time, but it was my 2nd child not 3rd. Given the choice and the ages of your other 2 children I think I would go pregnant in this case. Your boys are at an age where having the baby with you guys might slow you down more than they'd like.
And like a previous poster mentioned, having a 3rd really changes the dynamics (you and DH are outnumbered, LOL). My 3rd is now 11 months old and we decided to skip a trip this year because I did not want to go with the baby and the older two. We are going to wait till he is somewhere between 2 & 3 (depends how long I can hold out without a trip, LOL!).

Good luck!!!

I vote pregnant. When I only had my daughter my vote would have been to take the baby. I went at 20 weeks pregnant with her and was so exhausted all the time so it wasn't that enjoyable. Then we took her at almost 3 months and 3.5 months and both trips were great. All 3 of those trips were planned before we knew about the baby, but they worked out fine. She was a great traveller (though a very challenging baby at home) so WDW with her was great.

Then I had my son. And while I love him dearly and he's an easy baby at home, I now know why people leave babies at home. We took him to WDW at 3 and 4 months and he was pretty miserable both times. We planned these trips with him in mind, based on the great trips with our daughter at those ages, but he just isn't the same kid. He hated being in the parks all day, but my daughter had no desire to sit in the room so that was out. He goes to bed at 6:30pm and was annoyed that we were still out then sometimes. The room just wasn't quiet and dark enough for him to sleep. Etc. None of those things bothered my daughter at those ages, but my son just didn't like his routine being disrupted.

I also went at 17 weeks pregnant with him and it was a wonderful trip-the sickness was dying down (though I did throw up a few times including on IASW, but overall I was okay), no fatigue, swelling, and I got to buy little boy stuff.

And both kids were breastfed and worn all day in the parks but that made no difference to my son. He wouldn't nurse in 3D shows cause I think the glasses scared him (and I wear glasses!) cause he'd just look at me and cry. He wouldn't nurse in the sling so I'd have to take him out. He wouldn't sleep in the sling if I sat down. And it was November and December when we were there so not very hot. He just hated everything about the trip and let it be known.

Congrats on #3!

I'd probably pick neither, but if given a choice, I'd NOT go three months pregnant! But with DD my morning sickness was really terrible. I was sick three times a day until 20 weeks. I'd get up, go to work, come home, and go right to bed. Then repeat the routine the next morning.

I'm probably going to be pregnant for our trip, but planning to TTC early enough so that I'm 22-25 weeks along. I felt good at that point with DD. The sickness was over but I wasn't huge yet.

I totally agree. Depending on where you are staying it could be a nightmare for your family and hotel neighbors if baby is crying during the night. If everyone in your family is awakened often enough they might be miserable. Also, a wee one is probably going to be exposed to a lot of germs at a place like WDW. Not sure I'd want to expose a newborn to that.

I say go pregnant. I was 2 months pregnant the last time my family went to WDW. It was easier to not have a baby since I already had a 4 y.o., 2 6y.o's and a 9y.o. I even rode space mountain once:cool1: Don't worry boy number 5 came out fine! Give your other kids some mommy time before the baby comes!:goodvibes

momof5boys: 5 boys? Really? You deserve an award for that!!

Anyway, I vote for pregnant. The kids will like one last fun time w/mom before a little brother/sister comes along and steals some of mom's attention. And it will be hard for you to focus on your older kids and enjoy the trip w/them if you're worrying about a 4 mo old.

The youngest child I've taken to WDW is 1 yr (turned 1 the day before we arrived in WDW). He was fine, but I don't know if I could have enjoyed the trip if he was much younger than that.

I would go while pregnant. I went when I was 4 months pregnant and 7 months pregnant and I had a great time. I really didn't miss going on the few rides I couldn't go on. I just returned from WDW yesterday...we were there with 3 kids (3 yrs, 1yr, and 7mos) and there is just so much stuff to carry around. It would be nice to get one last trip in before you have to worry about all the baby gear.

I've skimmed most of the posts. I guess it depends on your personality and what you are expecting and want. I decided not to go last fall being pregnant, because for me I want to go on all the rides. I love them and I didn't want to worry about harming the baby or being left out. The baby is 10 weeks old now and we are thinking about this fall and he will be 10 months old. I think that is a fun time for bringing babies places. But my personality is laid back and my babies are just apart of our lives in whatever we do. I know I would prefer a 9 or 10 month old to younger, or even 6 mths and up.

In 2005 our two youngest were 17 mths and 2 3/4 yrs. We went planning for the four oldest, but I must say I truly enjoyed watching the younger ones, especially the 17 mth old. That is a special age of wonder. We had brought our four older ones when the younge one was that age and I felt the same way!

So I guess I might say go when your pregnant if thats what you want and then the baby would be about 16 mths when and if you went the next year!
