We are going to Disney for my daughter's 21st birthday, it's still a few months away. She is planning on splitting drinking around the world with eating as well, so she will be eating instead of drinking in half the countries. Does anyone have any suggestions for drinks to try out in Epcot for a new drinker? What about some food to try in the countries? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!

For drinks - Grand Mariner slushie in France. I get this every single time. And I think it would be new drinker friendly because I don't drink anything that tastes heavily of alcohol.

For food - the new pretzel bread pudding in Germany has me intrigued. Just need a trip down there to try it.

When are you going? Is there a festival running at that time? Because that opens up all kinds of other possibilities for food and drink.

Speaking from experience, highly recommend pacing yourself. I would also spend a lot of time thinking through the order of approach (for countries). We went Canada to Mexico (I know, I know - dated a French Canadian who is now my husband). For some reason, the guys went with beer in Canada and UK. By the time they got to the American Adventure, they were doing more beer. As you can imagine, it was super filling and made for an uncomfortable start. They then switched to straight up liquor shots for the second half (Aquavit in Norway!!!) to reduce the liquid volume in their stomachs... bad idea. I think, if I were to do it again, I would start in Mexico and work my way clockwise. Granted, I don't have the tolerance I did in college, so it would probably still end badly haha! We had a lot of fun and made some amazing memories. Have so much fun!

What was that old quote from my college days?

"liquor before beer, never fear. Beer before liquor, never sicker"

We did our daughters 21st Birthday in Epcot. I will preface this by saying we are not big drinkers/my DH does not drink at all lol. But we started early and did it over about a 10 hour day with meals/snacks etc. Also if a drink wasn't something we totally loved we didn't finish it but it counted lol. We also drank lots of water. It was fun and we didn't get "smashed" but we made my DH laugh watching us. We did not go during a festival (it was Aug in the before times (2017) when F&W didn't start till late Aug). Also we did not make it to Canada on our quest as we finished w/dinner and Illuminations at the Rose and Crown.

Started in Mexico's La Cava w/margarita and chips w/queso and salsa @ 11 am
China we did one of the mango drinks at the time and shared around
Norway we did viking coffee (split) and school bread and something else
Germany: grapefruit beer split
Italy we did lunch about 2 or so at Via Napolini and she had a fun drink (a bellini) to herself (I found the restaurant drinks to not be strong). We also had copious amounts of pizza, appetizers and dessert

We then took a break and went back to BWI (where we stayed and rested). Came back around 5 or so and restarted in America: frozen lemonade w/red stag bourbon (again shared and it was not awful strong at all) and a pretzel
Japan: plum wine (it was very small and one sip and we counted it)
Morrocco we did Sangria (it was not great tbh)
France: The grand slushy (not the one w/the shot just regular)
England: Dinner at the Rose and Crown. Our reservation was for 8:15 or so and we were lucky and got the patio (again days before special meals). Here we had ciders and I think a fancy coffee at the end. We were there till 9:30 as our waitress was lovely

So basically: Lots of food, many hours, sharing and it was not like we went on a bender lol.

Now fast forward 5 years and our DD is now married and goes every fall with her husband and they do the Epcot around the world. They are fancy wine foodies so be forewarned what you may create w/ a great day lol.

I like this schedule. To change it up, I'd get some food to share in China, skip lunch in Italy, instead get a glass of Rosa Regale in the wine shop, and get some food to share at Morrocco vs the sangria. When we do around the world we like snacking vs sit down but a TS dinner at the end is nice after all of that walking.

Also for Mexico, I'd get the frozen tri-color margarita at the kiosk ( it is refreshing and fun) and take it to the Mexico CS place and split nachos. During the day they usually let people take their CS food and sit in the back of La Hacienda so you don't have to sit out in the heat. (sometimes La Cava can get really backed up/crowded)

Eat a solid meal before starting drinking! And drink plenty of water in between stops.

Did this with D- Orange Slushy in France, Tokyo Sunrise in Japan and a Riesling wine in Germany. Don't get tequila shots- seriously, I have done 2 21st b-days and they went downhill with the tequila in Mexico. These are girls who drank before 21, but we now have a rule: skip Cava!
