disney 1/2 marathon

hi everyone.....i've been running on and off for years and have finally decided to register for the disney 1/2 marathon.....kind of scared! My husband says i'll do fine but i'm petrified of not being able to finish. One of my problems is lack of support - so thought i'd post here to see if anyone else is registered and could provide me with some advice for my first run. Also was wondering if there were any chat rooms/boards specific to the WDW marathon.

Hi Wendy!!

You have come to the right place for support!!!

We have a ton of people (I think about 50) from WISH registered for the Marathon - 1/2 and full. We have a weekly thread that is started every week for anyone who wants inspiration, or to let others know how their doing with their training (usually titled Marathon Training week....fill in date).

Check out Kamgen's WISH Walkers website too...and register with her (www.kamvee.com/wishwalk.htm) - there's talk of doing at least 1 meet during the marathon weekend.

I will be doing my first 1/2 marathon - and am planning to do the bulk of it walking.

My three sisters and I are all walking the half marathon. Even though we have each other for support we come to these boards every day to get more support. It started out as a fairy tale idea, I didn't care if I finished I just wanted to try, but I now think I'll be able to do it. My only concern is the time limit.

Welcome to the group. Unofficially I think we should call ourselves the WISH Walkers. (Even though Disney wouldn't let me put that on our shirts.) We could put them on our own shirts though.

When you can't get your shoes tied up, come here for that extra little push (or as in my case, a kick in the behind) to get me moving.
