Disney Lakeshore Lodge Priming Begins at Walt Disney World Resort​

A coat of what is likely primer has been added to a large section of the future Disney Lakeshore Lodge. Other sections of the resort have new steel framing, windows, doors, and sheathing.

Entrance


As we reported last week, thanks to aerial photos, the lobby now has roofing. We can also see the framework of a front entrance now. Blue safety netting has been added against the posts jutting from the roof. This is likely to protect crew members as they continue work on the roofing.

A-Frame Cabins ​

A-frame cabins are in rows on either side of the main resort. Crews have been adding more supports and wood details to the cabins over the past few weeks.


Cabins on the other side of the resort have begun to receive metal roofing and wood fascia on the edges.



Most of the cabins nearest Clementine Beach now all have wooden details and the beginnings of overhangs.

Resort Buildings​

As for the main building of the resort, crew members continue to install sheathing and paneling, although it looks as though prep is underway for future concrete work.


More steel has been installed on several of the roof structures and overhangs, with most of the windows and door openings now having glass. The supports in the water are for a future dock, also clearly visible in bioreconstruct’s aerial photos.


Not much has changed at this end with continued work on sheathing and additional overhang frames.



Possibly the biggest change in this update is the priming of exterior walls on the side facing Daniel Boone’s Wilderness Arcade at Fort Wilderness Resort. This section of the resort has been the furthest along in each update.


Only one section has received primer. Further down, concrete is still the most recent layer. The concrete wall jutting out has a pattern of vertical lines with small horizontal lines. This pattern may be expanded or highlighted with paint as work continues.

I am not digging this at all. Where's the theming? It looks like another version/type of the same building as the Poly Tower.

Those windows facing Boone's Arcade look like any hotel you'd see off an interstate.

The theming goes on after the structural elements are in place. All you are seeing right now are the bones of the building. Give it time.

Balconies? I don't see any or any structural elements for them. One thing I really like about most of the DVC properties is the balconies. We recently visited Universal and stayed at the Royal Pacific. No balconies. Really missed it.

Eyesore. This is so sad. I was looking at the sketches of the lobby the other day and it’s awful. Nothing says nature lodge like a giant steel box with a small unimpressive lobby. Guessing all Disney resorts from now on will be this unimpressive, bland, tower blueprint.

The 'no balcony' rooms are only two "sections" of the resort that face the back service area of Pioneer Hall (visual below from a separate thread on the topic). While nothing has been confirmed, from sources this is part of the hotel 'wing' and not the DVC side. The rooms opposite the hall to these that face the pool have balconies. While we can't rule out something like balcony-less Duos on the DVC side since we don't know specific room plans and you do see exterior windows in parts, the overwhelming majority of the balance of the resort - hotel and DVC - has balconies.

Granted I do agree not having a balcony would be a deal killer for me in most Disney resorts. I didn’t like Royal Pacific for that reason either. Assuming these are hotel side rooms, I suspect they will be a set of low or lowest rate/view quality rooms given no balcony and service area views.

It does make me feel some kind of way about why they felt the need to build right up on Pioneer Hall. They clearly made a choice for no balconies in this one specific section for a reason- because it looks down at chillers and loud back of house restaurant/mechanical stuff. I’m excited for this resort and don’t really have any issue with it and think everything will coexist just fine in the long run, but the “so close” argument of that wing and A-frame encroachment on the old Clementine Beach area seem like unnecessary parts of the project to me, IMHO.

There are no balconies for the rooms facing Fort Wilderness' Pioneer Hall (Trails End and Hoop Dee Doo Review). But the time share or hotel guests can view the Pioneer Hall dumpsters from the comfort of their rooms.

It is a bland, generic property that they are trying to prop up with whatever-the-latest-IP-is-to-push.

What a waste. That property could have been so much more.

You need to re-read the thread. There are balconies. And it only looks bad now because they haven't finished the construction and added the theming features.

Of course the time share/hotel resort is squeezed so close to the classic, original 1971 resort that is Fort Wilderness, I guess the DVC contractor architects didn't have the heart to put balconies on the side of the new build that faced the loading docks, garbage dumpsters, and the smell of the horse manure from the nearby Tri-Circle-D-Ranch (relocated from their 1971 to across Wilderness Way but still within gentle breeze distance). But if your room faces the water, I guess you're okay (for which you will pay more/points).

I personally couldn't stop the build next to FW. But it's a bland design set too close to FW with bland IP which will sell out (eventually before I die I guess). And guests who either don't know any better or are booking in the short term will take time share or hotel rooms because they will be available (because not desired to be bought or booked otherwise). And I was ridiculed but now more folks are living in reality and realizing what's happening is not all good.

So thank DVC/Disney for your dumpster view or manure odor. The DVC beast must be fed - new time share rooms, the Trojan Horse will march on in years to come. It may be a new build, it may be hotel room conversions, and when the 2042 expirations come, I'll be very happy to still pull my little popup to the FW campsites (whatever is left) because the 2042 actions will be is DVC's favor and not the time share owner's favor.
