Disney’s AKL verses Disney’s Riviera Resort?

We've stayed at AKL 3 times in the past year, and the rooms we enjoyed were not old and beat up. In need of refurb? Sure, the rooms at all WDW resorts are used hard. AKL rooms still very nice to stay, but i won't be disappointed when they redo them and get the Murphy Beds in place - that will make it even better.

Not trying to argue but they are absolutely old. No full refurbishment since it opened in 2009. Only a soft goods light refurb in 2016/17.

Well there is confusion here the OP is not a DVC member and was looking at booking a Disney Cash reservation at the Rivera vs the AKL.

You are referencing the AKL DVC Kadani which opened in 2009. And there is good news on that front as Disney has filed permits for the DVC refurb of all DVC units at Kadani in 2025.

We were just in Jambo last week in a standard studio and it was indeed showing its age a bit … especially noticeable after coming from a split stay at the brand new Boardwalk villas … is Jambo DVC up for refurb next year too? Did notice while walking past an open door that the hotel side had eliminated carpet for laminate flooring but didn’t peer in enough to notice if there were other updates

AKL DVC rooms haven't been refurbished, but AKL Jambo - hotel - rooms have been refurbished ("wood" floors, etc) and they look great!!!
