Disney’s “A Christmas Carol” train tour, New Orleans location - mini TR!

I really want to see that movie now, you made me really anxious.

Sorry for the delay folks. I was waiting on something, which I have just received today! :)

This post begins with the 2nd train car:

Train25.jpg

We walked in to see a room full of HD Flat panels, some still pictures, but most of them were moving through different scenes (like digital photo frames would)…it was not easy to get good pictures of these but I sure tried my best!

some other display cases were also in this room
Train30.jpg

This is my FAVORITE picture of them all. I couldn’t BELIEVE I got this shot!
Train31.jpg

Here I edited it, gave it a little haze around the sides (smudge tool) and I have it as my background on my work computer! :thumbsup2

Now the next car had different models of people and things. It was really neat to see!

I walk in and have these guys staring at me:

Here is Nathan posing with Big Ben:

(continued in a separate post)

Big Ben again:

Train48.jpg

And then I tried to get a better picture further back but there just wasn’t much room on the train to do so.
Train49.jpg

And then Nathan wanted to pose with EVERYTHING. LOL

Train50.jpg

Model of Fred’s House:

Scrooge’s office (and Nathan, of course. LOL)
Train52.jpg

Sorry some of these came out so dark.

I just thought this was awesome so I wanted to get a close-up “inside the office”
Train53.jpg

more little models
Train54.jpg

Then we enter this other room where they show how different graphics are done.

Train55.jpg

Pump up the volume!
Train56.jpg

It is really neat how they put little dots all over the actors’ faces and that’s how they come up with the digital characters from this. I think this movie is going to be AMAZING!

Train58.jpg

There were mirrors on the other side, so in this picture coming up you can see the little girl that got soaked by all that water before we got on the train (& her mom to the right of her). I really did feel bad for her.
Train60.jpg

Train61.jpg

This next room was just too cool. There were a ton of screens practically surrounding us. They actually showed the digital effects in the making (the next step in the process after the room we were JUST in)

Train62.jpg

Train63.jpg

Train64.jpg

Some screens were a little more advanced along in the process such as this one
Train65.jpg

Train66.jpg

I wanted to capture a picture of the whole room so I did that on the way out
Train67.jpg

I apologize, I’m not sure what this is. Hehe
Train68.jpg

(again, will be continued in next post)

The next car was very technologically savvy.

Train69.jpg

Here we utilized ANOTHER HD flat panel, this time it was a touch screen. We answered questions from the movie (most of which I didn’t know the answer to, shame on me)

Sorry, no pictures of this. Actually the last picture on the previous post may have been from this, but it doesn’t look it to me.

Moving on…

Here’s the coolest part!! We got to use another touch screen to morph our faces into the characters from the movie!!

Train73.jpg

Here are my cousin and Nathan in action:
Train70.jpg

Train71.jpg

Train72.jpg

This was NOT easy with such a short kid. LOL She actually had to let him stand on her knee, and then I straightened his head to where it needed to be for the camera to take the picture. We got it after a couple of tries. He looked cute as Tiny Tim, so we picked that one for him. Saved it, and moved on. :)

They must have had 20 booths set up to do this and the way it was set up, no one could bump into you in the “hall”, so that was nice. And they didn’t rush you either! It was SO wonderfully “DISNEY”. :goodvibes

Then Christina and I also had our turns. She was Bella, and I was Tiny Tim—I didn’t look so good as Bella…(We were able to click on each and view ourselves as each character before choosing which one we wanted sent)

Train74.jpg

Okay, I must say, this was a LIE. Total LIE. I know it’s free and all, but don’t lead people on. We kept waiting and waiting for the email. Then I even tried entering the code into the website given to us, and it kept telling me it wasn’t available. I was SO worried that we would not receive our pics! It’s not like we’d ever have a chance to do it again. Well, Walmart emailed me back a day later, and said that they’d re-generate/resend the email with our pictures. Finally after several days, yesterday my cousin received the pictures. Unfortunately Nathan’s is not there, and neither is her Bella. Instead, there is one of her as Tiny Tim, and FOUR, count ‘em FOUR pictures of me! Somehow it sent me as all four characters! Bonus for me, but poor Nathan didn’t get his keepsake of himself as Tiny Tim.

I’d advise anyone doing this tour to take pictures of the screen with your camera while your “morphing” is on screen. Then you’ll have back-up in case you don’t receive your pictures, or receive the WRONG pictures.

Without further adieu….

Christina as Tiny Tim:

Me as Bella:

TOLD YOU it looked funny! Haha

Me as the ghost of Christmas past ( I think?)
Me_CC_ghost.jpg

Me as Scrooge

And finally, my favorite….Me as Tiny Tim!
Me_CC_TinyTim.jpg

I love how they made my eyes so large and thinned my lips.

Nearing the end of the train now.

Train75.jpg

Train76.jpg

The last car had a fake fireplace, and also a nice set-up of a “family dinner” for photo opportunities. I was hoping I’d get those pictures from my cousin before posting this, but she never sent them to me (they are on her phone as well). If I get them within the next week, I’ll post here.

We left the train with HUGE SMILES. Because it was fun, and well…the rain had stopped!! :woohoo:

Me with Nathan
Train80.jpg

We were sad not to be able to see the movie, but we sure had a nice fun FREE morning.

We asked Nathan if he wanted to go have some pizza for lunch and he said Sure! We headed to Chuck E Cheese as planned! K-Mart is right next door so we stopped there and I found some cute flip-flops for $6 on clearance. I just could NOT wear those water-soaked shoes and socks anymore.
Of course as we were entering K-Mart, Nathan said “look we can have pizza at Chuck E Cheese!” and Christina said with a straight face “no, we’re going to Pizza Hut” LOL Poor kid.

One more good thing that happened was when we walked into K-Mart, an Olan Mills rep was in the front of the store with a great offer. I won’t go into the details of the package unless someone asks but it was a $14 deal for a ton of pics (including some black and whites)—all of one pose, but still a good deal. Christina signed up to have a family portrait, and I signed up so that DH and I could take pictures…$14, why not? We are going next Friday on our day off at 12:30. I have a hair appointment at 9:30 so it will be nice and fresh! Let’s just hope for no rain!! It’s been raining so much lately.

We got in the car, and drove right next door at Chuck E’s….and said “Nathan, we’re here! This was the plan all along!” He flipped, he was so excited!!

We both had tokens from last time we had been there (a birthday party) – we ended up having over 125 between us! Then I had some coupons from signing up online, $18.99 for a large 1 or 2 topping pizza, plus 4 drinks, and 25 tokens. Also there was a bonus coupon for an extra 20 tokens, JUST for using any of the other coupons on the sheet. Can’t beat that!
We would have spent that on lunch just for the 3 of us had we gone elsewhere. So it was a great deal! And I realized I really like Chuck E Cheese’s pizza.

So, nearly 200 tokens in hand, we set out on our CEC adventure!

Did you know ALL the games are only ONE token each? Even this:

ChuckECheeses.jpg

That’s a rollercoaster simulator. There’s another that is even cooler. I just couldn’t believe it was only one token (ie. 25 cents…but for us much cheaper. LOL)

That’s the only picture I took there because my phone battery was getting low.

We played a lot of games, and waited and WAITED for our pizza to arrive. Finally it got there and we were in heaven. Afterwards we played more games for a couple of hours. We used the ticket counter and ended up with over 500 tickets.

The moral to the story? Even in this economy, you CAN have a day of fun AND eat lunch for under $20.00 :thumbsup2

Oh by the way, I recommend anyone with children go to Chuck E Cheese’s website and sign up on their email list. You will get GREAT coupons—especially upon initial sign-up (so don’t sign up until you think you’ll be going within the next 30 days). That’s why we ended up with so many tokens left over from the last time; I had signed up and they sent me the $18.99 deal like the one we used this day, as well as some others, in particular--a “buy 40 tokens, get 60 tokens free”. (And we used both that time.) You will only get that particular one when you sign up. (That’s $10 for 100 tokens!)

Here’s one final picture:

Think he was tired?? :rotfl:

I know this was not ALL about A Christmas Carol, but like I mentioned, there are several of my "disfriends" reading this, and I thought I'd share some personal moments. Also I hope that the information I gave can benefit someone else! The end!

Thanks for sharing that Cheri

Your pictures were so awesome

You took great shots of those varous scenes of the movie

The morphing thing looked like so much. What a shame Nathan did not get one. But I am sure he still had a blast

I love that roller coaster simulator thing at Chuck E Cheese.. so awesome :thumbsup2

I am so excited to see this movie now :santa:

so glad you enjoyed it!

hey where is everyone?? :confused3

I'm here! Will read later today. I was just thinking about this since they come to DC in October.

thanks for posting! I'm really glad I was able to see your pictures. I was considering doing this with DD4 when they come to Union Station in DC...but after seeing what it really is, there is no way my 4yo would be all that interested in it...and I certainly wouldn't be able to enjoy it with her all bored.

But now I feel like I know a little more about the movie and train.

Loved the final installment! Thanks for sharing this with us Cheri. I'm glad you had so much fun! And it sounds like you really scored at CEC!! WTG girl! You always have the mad hook up with the deals. :thumbsup2

Great job Cheri! :thumbsup2 Your pictures were amazing! I can't wait to see the movie!

I'm glad you had fun at CEC. Personally, I'd rather poke myself in the eye than go there ~ but I'm glad you like it! :rotfl:

Great report Cheri - it looked like a lot of fun despite the rain. Glad they didn't shut it down until after you were in line. Amazing stuff inside and cool that there was so much you could interact with.

And nice psych out on the kids about Chuck E Cheese ...we parents do love to play those games on our kids :lmao: We have Kyra convinced that she is not getting an iPod Touch for her b-day on Friday ...which we've had in hand along with a good accessory pack for a couple of weeks now ;)

Thanks for posting this, it was fun living the experience through your eyes :)

Man Cheri! Believe it or not we were all set to go on Saturday and decided not to because of the rain and reports that it was really more for the over ten age group. Now I am wishing we would have went! At the very least, we could have had a meet!

Pics were great. Ya'll whipped poor Nathan out :lmao: The lighthouse picture is absolutely gorgeous.

I can't wait to see the movie! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you got to see them too :)

She'd love to watch the 3D movie preview I bet. And she'd probably be intrigued by all the "tv's" in there. Then she'd get to morph her face into the characters! I know you would enjoy it, maybe give it a go? You can move rather quickly through the train. We actually took our time a bit in some areas and people passed us up.

you're welcome! LOL I do don't I? ;)

:lmao: I enjoy being a big kid, and helping Nathan get tickets is fun! I love this one game they have, "The Flaming Finger" - I won a couple of times for like 15 tickets each. You have to use your finger on the screen to move this light through a maze, racing against a timer. I also hit the Jackpot on one of those "press stop when the light goes round" games for 65 tickets. I've NEVER won on one of those -- and couldn't do it again, believe me, I tried. :rotfl2: It was a fluke, it was my first time trying!

oh man! what a bummer! It was really wet out there, but we were glad we went. And I was thankful for my K-mart flip flops!! They are cute, too :thumbsup2 I didn't have any green ones so it worked out nicely (I was wearing a green shirt(as you saw in the pics) and I found green & white flip flops so I bought them.
