DISmoms Gone WILD!!!!! A trip to WDW w/out the KIDS!!!10/6 Updates p.36 FINISHED!

Can I make an ADR? Are you on the Disney Dining plan? I would gladly fork over 2 ts credits for that feast!

Ellen is, without a doubt, THE most amazing hostess and best cook I've ever known. Definitely worth two TS credits!!! YUM! I can still taste the clams...some of the best I've EVER had! And those figs....words cannot describe. :worship:And you make it all look so easy, Ellen!

Count me in 2TS seems very fair!!!:lmao:

I usd to have a recipe for SOUSED Herring , should I find it for the Dis Moms !!!!:lmao:

Cam, so glad there wasnt long lines awesome score. That would be a FUN new tradition to implament and im sure the girls would LOVE IT! (shirts are too cute btw!) but I didnt see a pic of you introducing your neighbor to HmcH.. LOL

HA ... How about if I take Val's place next yr.. you dont need an empty spot... I can be your friend from Calie-Fornie-A (say it like My Govenator would!) Ill bring wine from the vinyards here and I make a mean spinich artichoke dip LOL

Ellen that feast looks so fun!!!! But all I could imagine was the cleanup!!!:scared1: We were planning a big football tailgate party at our place in two weeks, but our stupid clubhouse stole our idea.... for the same night! This was to be our first BIG party since moving here - about 20-25 adults, plus kids!!!! I was a bit nervous, so this will give me more time to plan better.

But I"m really liking the whole seafood theme! I'm sure you are a great hostess, I can totally imagine you just sailing through without a hitch. ;)

OK, time for me to add my $.02 to this sunset safari and Jiko experience.......

So we made our way down to Jiko to meet up with the rest of our safari party, and I snapped a couple pics of the restaurant before it filled up.....

Jiko5.jpg

This is what our guide looked like AFTER putting up with our antics for the evening.....

Jiko7.jpg

And we were off! We took our places in our jeep and made our way out onto the savannah surrounding AKL.

As usual, Ally was raring to go, and for once she wasn't talking back!

emailflatallysafari.jpg

Hey look, there's a giraffe in the background! Imagine that!

I have no idea if these are even in order, but I'll try. Hey, check this one out and if you can find an animal..... well, good for you! I think I was taking a pic of the resort that most people don't get.

Safari1.jpg

Safarianimals1.jpg

Also, it's important to note that about 95% of the time NO zoom lens was used, and since a 35mm camera actually shoots the photos FURTHER away than they actually are (50mm is actual distance I think), then you can imagine how close we actually got to these animals!

Safarianimals2.jpg

Safarianimals4.jpg

Beep beep!!! Get outta our way!!!!

Oh, yeah? Well, I'm a giraffe which kinda makes me the star of this show, so why don't you just go hang with the monkeys with beer bongs and leave me alone!

I'm having some issues today - the milk soured so I'm having my own delusional conversations in my mind. Does this happen a lot you ask? Well, yes it does. No it doesn't! Oh, stop it and get on with the photos!

I wonder what kind of hair product he uses? Mine tends to fall flat in the rain and humidity but look at his spikes!!!!

Safarianimals994.jpg

Hey look! More giraffes!

Safarianimals997.jpg

I think this might have been the big stud leaving his mark on the trees. It was so interesting listening to Amy our guide tell us about the personalities of the animals. The troublemakers (I kinda bonded with them), the uh, ahem, horny ones, the beauty challenged (wait, I think I bonded with THEM too!), and you could just tell that Amy really loved her job.

"Yeah, you're in MY territory and these are MY women....."

So glad you're posting!! :goodvibes No I'm not! Yes I am! :rotfl:

Please note: This is NOT a giraffe!

Safarianimals9995.jpg

Not a giraffe.....

Safarianimals9996.jpg

They're baaaaaack!

Safarianimals9997.jpg

Safarianimals9999.jpg

Safarianimals99991.jpg

Safarianimals99993.jpg

Dude didn't even get up when we passed by..... didn't he know he was in the presence of the DISMOMS??????

Safarianimals99994.jpg

I think Cammie told this story already - this guy is tilting his head intentionally - it's how he always walks now after a severe ear infection and I think his ear drum burst. His equilibrium is now only normal if he keeps his head tilted to one side. Completely normal for him and he's perfectly happy, if not a little lopsided.....

Safarianimals99996.jpg

If this were a female I think we could name her Eileen... get it? I lean???? Oh, I crack myself up!!!!

Safarianimals99998.jpg

Now let me tell you a little about myself. I can do a mean ostrich impersonation. Yes, it's a gift. I was just born with it. In fact, my parents still request it when we get together. Unfortuntely, I think I threw something out last time I tried it...... :rolleyes1

Safarianimals999992.jpg

Look! Texas Longhorns!!! Beef.... it's what's for dinner......

Safarianimals999994.jpg

One eyed Mary.....

Safarianimals999998.jpg

She would fall into that "beauty challenged" category.....

Safarianimals999999.jpg

Safarianimals9999993.jpg

It's quite obvious to me that this guy had to carry his kid's backpack throughout Disney for a week.....

Safarianimals9999995.jpg

Now these zebras were different from the other zebras. How? Beats me! You know I wasn't listening - I was too busy looking for the monkeys with beer bongs!!!!

Safarianimals9999997.jpg

Safarianimals99999994.jpg

"One of these days I'm gonna sneak out behind this jeep- nobody will ever notice...."

Safarianimals99999996.jpg

Safarianimals99999998.jpg

"I'm too sexy for this safari"

Safarigirls2.jpg

Our wonderful guide Amy - she had some seriously funny stories about the animals. Did anyone else notice how they all revolved around the sexual nature of the animals??? :rotfl2:

It was how big????

Safariguide4.jpg

And she was from Columbia, MO, just down the highway from my childhood town of Kansas City!

And our driver..... he is actually from the town my parents live in! He went to my sister's rival high school! It really is a Small World After Alllllllllll - and now you'll all be singing this all day! :goodvibes

Well that is VERY generous of you- thanks for all the compliments- but, Joan, YOU are a FABULOUS cook yourself!! The crab cakes and Jambalaya were spectacular! And you helped me so much while I was getting my stuff together- THAT'S how I made it look so easy- I made you do half the work! :rotfl:

Count me in 2TS seems very fair!!!:lmao:

Oh, just do it! Don't worry about the clean-up, lots of people will help, and even if they don't it's worth it to have everyone together eating and laughing. But if you EVER have lobster- DO IT OUTSIDE!!!!!!!

I just stumbled upon your TR when doing a search for the safari! DF and I are staying there for part of our wedding/honeymoon, and it looks like it would be such a fantastic experience for our trip! I love Giraffes and I love wine, so knowing I can see Giraffes and drink wine, I decided it is a must do!:lmao:

Thanks for posting all the great pictures! It really helped me get a feel of the experience!

OMG! Ellen! The seafood! I love seafood but it is rather difficult to get fresh seafood here in Oklahoma!:rotfl2:

Love the pary pics and personally, I think you can never have enough giraffes! hey, if you have to drop six feet and land just to get into this world, you deserve to have your picture taken as often as possible!:lmao:

my husband keeps wondering why im laughing at the computer screen, I come home after a hard day of work and yall keep me going, thank you!

....29 pictures of that Giraffe :lmao: .

Pretty cool trip report. U R giving me some pretty neat suggestions on what to check out next time I head back to the House of Mouse.

Congratulations!!:yay: I hope you will love AKL as much as I do- I think it really feels like you're in another part of the world. Did you know they have lots of giraffes there? Very Cool!! :rotfl:

You make a very good point. And sorry for your lack of seafood out there in the middle of the country! I'm sooo glad I live in a coastal state, because of the seafood AND the beach. I was planning on going to the beach today, as a matter of fact, but the weather is not so nice down there, so it looks like I'll be staying home instead. Think I'll get my fat butt to the gym!

Yes, just imagine how much MORE you would laugh on the CRUISE!!!!!:thumbsup2

Only 29? Sheesh. It's like we didn't take any pictures at all!

Hoping to post an update today- I need to get on it or else I'll be doing 3 TRs at once and that seems a little over-the-top! Sean went back to school this morning, so that frees up my day quite a bit. :dance3:

Hi Moms! I'm all caught up finally! I loved, loved, loved all of the giraffe pics! They are so beautiful and graceful! I'm a little disappointed by the lack of monkeys, but the zebras are cute. :goodvibes Your Jiko dinner looked great!

Kara, loved the comment with the mask, and the wildebeast with the backpack! :rotfl2:

Did I mention how much I love the giraffes? Thanks for sharing.

P.S. Ellen, your seafood feast looks fabulous - how fun!

Stuffed beyond belief after the Jiko Safari dinner, we headed back upstairs for a last night of DISmoms in the lounge. First we dropped our stuff in the room- Aaaahhhhh.... I just love that turn-down service with chocolates on the pillow every night!!

2007_051606summer0185.jpg

The Moms were quick to grab a spot outside the room-

2007_051606summer0187.jpg

Where we had no problem finding space to slug down some Gran Marinier!

2007_051606summer0188.jpg

I ran around taking pictures- because who knows when I'll be all the way up here again, and Jambo looks so gorgeous at night!

Looking over at the lounge from across the way-

2007_051606summer0204.jpg

Sadly, Kara & Cammie decided it was time for them to pack their stuff up.:sad1: Loni and I thought we'd go for a walk outside while they packed up since it was not POURING!!! But really, we just didn't want to watch them do it. Outside, people were taking full advantage of a break in the deluge. The hot tubs were hoppin, and there were a few peeps in the pool (we very briefly (as in for 1/2 a millesecond) considered getting our bathing suits on, but said naaaaaaaah...let's just wander aimlessly instead!

2007_051606summer0208.jpg

2007_051606summer0209.jpg

We found the night vision glasses and the CM was able to tell us what to look for where out on the savannah- very cool! Then we walked back inside to see what was in the hallways. When people say the art and info is abundant at AKL, it's no exaggeration- it is like being in a museum about Africa!

The girls were in their jammies, and we spent the next hour or so criticizing the new & not improved Stacey on TV.

2007_051606summer0218.jpg

It went on like that for a while until....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......and then seemingly 10 minutes later, Cammie was getting her crack of a$$ wake-up call and saying good-bye. On the plus side, she was leaving the rain behind, so at least there was something good in it for her. But mostly it just plain sucked and I wish we all had longer together- and NEXT year, we will!!!!

Up next- we beg Kara to stay (but she leaves anyway ) and then lonnie and I have more fun playing in the Monsoons of WDW '09 on a 3 hour garden tour!!!!!! WOO-HOO!!!

man I missed all the good stuff up in concierge looks like yall had good times up there! Sad to see it end

Great Update Ellen !!I noticed Kara looke like she was constipated in one of the "Loungeshots !!:rotfl2:Was it the lack of a Beer Bong!!!!:lmao:

Oog a chunka Ooga Ooga! Oog a chunka Ooga Ooga!

This..errr...thing is speaking back to you:

...I can't stop this feeling, deep inside of me. Dismoms just don't realize what they do to me. :thumbsup2

So sad the band is breaking up:guilty: I'm glad the group will be back together next year!

I didn't realize that lounge was even up there that high!
