My children and I would like to begin sending care packages as posted on this forum. Could you please pm or e-mail me an address to send these things. I would prefer to send it to a particular soldier who could share with his group, rather than to an organization. I also believe that would give my children a more hands on/personal experience as I am trying to teach them to share their blessings. Also please list items that we should not send, and things that are needed. Are there some comfort food items that would survive the shipping.
If I receive several addresses, I believe I have some church members who would love to help out. I have a 15yo son who, for as long as I can remember has wished to join the military and I hope someday people will return the kindness.
God Bless to your sons and daughters for their sacrafices.

PS what we need to remember is that life changes, and things happen. People who sign up for the reserves have lives that change over the years. They marry, take on mortgages, have family members who get sick, etc..... When they have to go overseas, their debts and obligations are still here. And yet they go. Any bit of help we can give.

Tiggeroo,
TwinMom's son is over in Kuwait and Keli's DD's BF was just deployed over there.

You might want to PM either one of them for the addresses. Someone else post a nice thread yesterday (sorry, can't remember who!) with a list of suggested items to send.

I'm getting my box assembled and hope to mail it out on Monday.

Is there any way to send chocolate without it melting?

I have a best friend, nephew, and BF's son over there right now. Aside from the personal products mentioned before, I'd suggest books/magazines/etc, card games, anything to while away the time. I've also sent a lot of beef (not pork!)jerky, energy bars, nut rolls, etc. (It was cute, one of them just asked me to send a "People" magazine so they could see how Joe Millionaire turned out!). If you think riding in a car with three small children for hours on end is boring, think how these servicepeople must feel. Let's keep their spirits up!

If you would like an address for a Marine and his unit, please PM me and I'll gladly provide you with my son's address. He's currently in Kuwait - 22 miles from the Iraqi border.

As for the post asking about chocolate, we were told to think "desert" when we send anything and that chocolate is not recommended.;)

I need to find the thread with suggested items for care packages. This is such a great idea.

There's another thread on this same board - started by me (TwinMom7). In there, I have a link to a great site "Marine Moms". They list lots of ideas for care packages, along with mailing restrictions, etc. It will answer all of your questions!!!;)

Thank you Patty. :) My cousin is in the Navy and he LOVES Reece Cups. I was going to try and send him some, but I'm afraid they'll melt.
Thanks for answering my question. :)
