Hi - we're cruising out of Miami for the first time next Feb, and our flight after disembarkation isn't until 6pm out of the Miami airport. Was thinking that my kids (boys ages 13 and 10) would enjoy going to the Everglades for gator sightings and doing an excursion on the boats through the marshes. Has anyone done this when they disembarked and still made it to the airport in time? Am hoping for recommendations of tour operators and especially if there are ones that pick up from the port and drop off at the airport. Also, if there are other suggestions of a great way to spend part of the day in Miami, that'd be greatly appreciated, too. Thanks!

You would want to give yourself an hour to get to either the Coe or Shark Valley visitor centers, And then of course an hour to get back to the airport. There are tours that pick up people in Miami and take them out for airport rides, but I’m not sure how you would store your luggage for that. You might look into hiring a private driver to take you out there. To be honest, if your flight is at 3, I don’t think that really allows for enough time to see the Everglades.

We are doing an Everglades tour after we disembark. I specifically looked for ones that will will stow your luggage during the tour. I am considering two operators.
miamitourcompany and wildlimeadventures

There may be others to look at as well.

something to think about:

after some time in the Everglades and possibly an airboat ride ... where summer temp nears 100 and humidity is high ......

how comfortable will you be in your airplane seat ......

your seat mate ?

sans a shower and change of clothes

For OP, I don't think it will be 100 in Feb.

As someone who went to WDW this past February, you would be surprised at how hot & humid FL can be at that time of year. Maybe not 100 but it felt close enough for my tastes.

I don’t remember the operator, but we did an airboat ride after a cruise out of Port Everglades, and it all worked out fine.

We plan on doing the same on our cruise with the Magic at the end of January.

We did this after our Miami cruise. Please note we didn't fly out until the next day, so we went all the way to the end of the road. However, you can easily make it to the Visitor Center and to Royal Palms area with the boardwark. Odds are very high of seeing gaters. We just rented a one way car rental super easy. Just pay for whatever their toll option is as everything is a toll road.
