DISCruise and DVC

Has anyone ever tried to upgrade their cabin for free? What about if the cruise was booked using DVC points? I am going on the 7 day Magic cruise in Oct. and a friend who is joining me was curious if it was possible. I wanted to ask the experts first before I called without knowing what I was talking about. Thanks!

Free upgrades are unusual and you can't ask for them, if they happen it is at Disney Cruise Line's discretion.

Our first cruise was booked using points (11/24/01) in a cat. 8. We upgraded at check in to a cat 6. (veranda) for about $350 extra, so you can do it (book w/point and upgrade with cash at check-in) however I would advise an early check-in in order to have the best chance of purchasing an upgrade. I got the last one available for my sailing and it was only 1:00pm when I checked-in. Good luck - when are you sailing?

It's our first Disney Cruise with 2 other couples. We sail on Oct. 5, Eastern Carribean. We each have infants and are ready for a grand adventure!
