Discovery Cove...when should I buy the tickets for our Feb trip?

I am planning on taking my family to Discovery Cove as a special treat during our February trip. However I am terrified of having very cold cold weather and therefore want to wait until the last possible moment to buy our tickets.

When should I be sure to book by? I am planning on a Friday 2/8 date. If it's unseasonably cold, we (I) will be miserable and upset at having spend so much $$. Can someone make me feel better about it?!

Also, if I'm reading the ticket choices correctly, we will have free access to Sea World. Is there anyway I can go to SW before the date that we go to DC. I want to go to SW on Tuesday 2/5, an DC on 2/8. Will this work?

Last question: what's the best/cheapest way to get from AKL to DC & back. What can I expect to pay for the four of us?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If cost is a factor, the sooner you buy your tickets, the better. The price normally increases the closer you get to your visit date and availability decreases. If DC offers a discount after you book your tickets under the currently advertised and non-discounted price, they will refund you the difference with a simple phone request.

We went for the first time on January 1st. We also fretted about the weather and ended up having a perfect day. We went the second time the last week of August during hurricane/rainy season, and again......a perfect day and our worrying was unfounded. You can't change the weather. The wetsuits will help keep you comfortable, and both the lazy river and new Freshwater Oasis are super warm. When we were there in January, they also had heaters around the restaurant (and maybe in other places too....but definitely I remember them near the dining area) where you could go and dry off and/or wam up if you were feeling rather chilly.

You will receive 14 days free admission to both SeaWorld and Aquatica. You can use them before and/or after your day at DC.

Hopefully someone else will be able to chime in with assistance on your transportation question.

DC is awesome and amazing. I don't think you will be disappointed, no matter what the weather :goodvibes .

I'm thinking the same thing and I plan on being there the same day as you! I'm afraid if the weather's cold it will be more miserable than fun. I believe $ is not refundable but days are switchable if available. Unfortunately for us, Feb 8 or 9 is the only doable days. I'm curious what you decide to do!!

I probably will not decide until a few weeks from our trip. I realize it's a risk that they may be sold out, but to me it's not worth it to spend close to $800 on a cold, miserable day. That is a LOT of money and I want to be sure it will be thoroughly enjoyed.

The weather in Florida can be extremely variable. It can change from day to day. Even purchasing your DC admission a few weeks out as opposed to a few months out, there will be no way to accurately predict what weather you will encounter on your specified day. A day or two beforehand might give you a good idea of what to expect, but anything more than that will be unreliable.

Another group headed to DC hopefully on 2/8. Let's all hope that the weather is great:) We'll be coming from Universal and I was wondering about the transportation from there.
