It seems as if many DVC members are starting to explore Vero Beach. Just wondering what our different experiences are.

Pamokw: We bought our points at VB and I have very glad that we did. I like ensuring that at some point during our vacations to WDW, we will have some quiet beach time. While I would also like to add some WDW points later (BWV, VWL. OKW or whatever comes up!), I love it that VB is our "home" resort. I will be interested in seeing the final results of your poll! :D

PrincessJ, I wasn't sure how to put this together but I'm curious whether Vero is starting to "catch on" more than in the past. Having some or all home resort priority may become more of an issue, especially since they won't be expanding the size of the resort. I got mine. ;)

Bumping for more replies.

We keep saying that we are going to Vero "next time". Then next time rolls around and we are at BWV and every time we start a new AP we have to keep going to WDW till that year is up. So until we break the cycle it will be hard to go to Vero. I have a feeling once we do we will probably find we will go more often. I suppose if we had tons of points then it would be easier, but we can just barely get in 2 long trips and 1 short trip for our AP's. Anyone else with this "cycle" problem?

We spent a week at Vero in 1999. Our kids went to space camp and then we flew down to pick them up and spend a week at the beach. We loved it! We are thinking of splitting our Thanksgiving time up between BW and Vero.

We did the unusual thing, we stayed and Vero and added on points for BW.

Best investment I have ever made!:)

We really like Vero, but not enough to buy points or even stay for a long visit. We usually go for 3 or 4 nights, added on to a Disney visit and pay cash. My family loves the west coast of Florida better than the east coast anyway so it would probably be a different story if Disney had built a resort over there instead (or in addition). This is just my opinion. I know Pam asked for different opinions so I thought I'd share ours. We LOVE Disney World and spend all of our points there. Just can't bring ourselves to use them anywhere else!!

I'm not sure what the numbers are really showing either! Opinions like some of you have taken the time to post help round out what people are thinking about Vero. I agree that 3-4 nights is a good amount of time to spend, then I'm looking for more action too. But I sure do love those days!

We look forward to our stay at VB this week; will let you know how we like it!:smooth:

We went to VB for a full week and that is a bit long. I voted that I liked it but wont be going back regularly. It was a great resort and we had a ball there but if and when we do go back it will be for 1-2 nights after a WDW trip.

We went to VB three times as non-members (1997, 1998, and 1999) and now have been once as a member (May, 2001). We love it!

After driving by the resort on the way to the in laws, DW and I decided to buy our points there. We hope to do an addon to OKW at some point.:smooth: :pinkbounc :p :earsboy: :earseek:

We very much enjoyed our few day stay there. It will become a regular part of the WDW routine. We probably would not be interested in a whole week there.

see us spending a week there. We have no problem with a lazy beach vacation. Unfortunately, we have not had the opportunity to stay at Vero Beach DVC yet. It seems like a trip there would be very similar to our very laidback trips to HH DVC. Just lots family time and water time. The only negative that I have heard that might bother us is some have mentioned on these boards that the beach is not all that great. But again we look forward to finding out for ourselves...we are kind of hard-headed that way.

We have been to VB three times for two nights/three days each time tied into vacations at WDW as OKW members. We like the laid back atmosphere and the beach. We will be going back again in August! :bounce:

I'm pretty new to DVC so I'll probably be trying it at some point in the not to distant future.

We have been going to Vero since 1997. Vero was the reason we ended up joining.

We have points at Vero, OKW and BW.

We have been to Vero 7 times in the last 4 years and love it.

We have stayed from 3-8 nights and have paid getting the DVC discount to help extend.

The more we go the more we like it.

My daughter loves the Kids Camp so much we have to book ahead from the UK to make sure she can get in!

:smooth:

We visited VB several years ago. It was OK! We don't like the east coast beaches. We spend time relaxing on the west coast of Florida--the Sarosota area. We didn't care for the area in general and we don't plan on returning. The WDW resorts are much nicer and I think you can find quiet time there. However, a vacation is a vacation. For those who like VB, enjoy!!;)

Vero is BY FAR my favorite resort. While I still enjoy my time at WDW (of course) I am finding my "down" time at Vero more and more satisfying than my "active" time at The World. We started with 3 days at Vero using OKW points when Vero first opened, then finally did an add on and now spend about 6 nights there. I could EASILY spend more time.

I have said it before, I think it will become more difficult to vacation at Vero without the 11 month window given the size of the resort and the increased popularity among DVC members. If you are one of the ones who voted that you would be vacationing regularly at Vero and don't have any Vero points, you might consider adding some. It is truly a very special place.
