Discover Atlantis, can you do on your own or should you book with Disney?

We have been to Nassau many times, but never ventured over to Atlantis. We usually stay on the ship, but wondering if we should book the discover Atlantis tour for about $63 each, or is it better to get a cab someplace and just go there on our own and buy tickets once there?

I think the aquarium day passes are something on the order of $45. Plus you have to have transportation to get to and from Atlantis. There is both a water taxi, and you can take a regular cab also.

With the recent "mom missed the boat" thread I'd say use Disney. If your transportation is late you have a better chance of the boat waiting for you to return. If you do it yourself be early back to the boat cause if you late the boat be bye bye
