Does DL not offer discounts and PIN's like WDW?
I currently have a PIN code for free dining at WDW..and then got a discount in the mail for staying at the resort....but don't see ANY discounts offered for DL this summer??
Do they not offer discounts?
This is making it really hard to want to go to DL...this is gonna be our 1st trip!
Those discounts make me wanna go back to WDW!!

They do offer discounts and pins, but I am not sure about this summer with the opening of Carsland. They might feel like they don't need to send them out, but I could be way off base. If you are looking for a certain timeframe, I would go onto their site and price the trip you want with the dates you want. Sometimes if you save the offer under My Disneyland, you could possibly get a pin code via email or snailmail. It's not a for sure, but it's worked for me and others I know in the past. I've always done it for down times though and never more than a couple months out. Generally the pin codes are for room prices and include all three hotels of DLR.

I know that if they are done handing out pin codes, they'll send you one for WDW.

There was really nothing last summer either but it is to early to see what Disney will or won't. Definately not the World. We received two pins last year but could not use them, wrong dates and we were staying in the Villas. I would be surprized if they do with Carsland opening on June 15th but we could be surprized. DL PINS usually just are offered prior to a general offer coming out. You can get DL Pins by registering at disneyland.com, ordering a planning DVD from DL, and checking hotel/package offers. This may trigger a PIN being sent to you by mail or email.


I do agree that this Summer is going to be big with the newly opening Cars Land, and discounts may be limited. Summer Discounts don't typically come out until Spring for DLR because planning is not done far in advance like it is for WDW. We may see Summer discounts in the next few weeks.

There is no free dining and little reason to get a dining plan for DLR. If you haven't I would suggest reading the DLR Guide for WDW vets.

What comes to mind after seeing this question, is I haven't noticed anyone mention they recieved a DLR PIN in a couple months.

We received a pin for free dining last fall- you had to travel between mid-August and early Oct. It was the first I had ever heard of free dining at DL, and I haven't heard a thing since then (there were a couple of people here that mentioned getting the pin code)

I do think overall WDW can be done for less (if you are staying on property). I can stay at a moderate resort (with free dining) at WDW for 11 nights for around the same price I can stay at DL for 6. What kills it for us is airfare for 5- we can drive to DL and it saves a lot there.

I also think the promotions for DL are much more last minute than WDW. We got our pin for free dining last year on 8/2/11 and had to book by 9/12/11 and complete travel by 10/8/11. A much shorter time frame than WDW gives since free dining usually comes out in the spring for the fall. I have no clue if DL does promotions for the summer- but I am not surprised that if they did, that they wouldn't be out yet

At WDW they usually have free dining availble to the public starting in April for trips that are booked during a few weeks in mid-Aug through Sept. They have offered more free dining opportunities in the last year or two than usual. No telling if they will continue that or not. It is not a guarantee, but I would be pretty confident that it will be available this fall as well.

As far as pin codes- I am not sure there is any rhyme or reason to them. I know if you register online or save a trip, or order a DVD you are more likely to get a code.

I agree it may have been a trial thing and they may never offer it again. But it also doesn't mean they will never offer it again, either. Last year at this time it had never been offered at DL. Now, it has been offered (and I would guess it was to more than 2 people)- but I do agree that you shouldn't get your hopes up for it

I agree that the DVD, registering and saving trips works for WDW....so I did all that! But no luck yet! But you made me feel better to hear that it is still early!
I am trying to get excited about this trip to DL....but my heart belongs to WDW!!!
