So after some intial panic, I got an email from Discount Orlando Tickets that FITS passes are back in stock, but when I go to the page with the description of the tickets it says in bold red letters....

"We can no longer sell these to Canadians or Americans - They
have been hassled at the gate. Not meant to be sold to
residents of North America."

I understand these tickets are intended to be sold to Americans, but it doesn't say that anywhere on the ticket!!!!!!!!

I can't believe this! I got SO excited when I got the email - after intially panicking when they went out of stock and now I can't get them again!

Here is a link to the page. (Hope it works!)
FITS Pass Description Page

I'm so upset, I could cry! :(

Awww, don't cry!!! Disney never meant for FITS passes to be used by Americans, but there are ticket brokers who are willing to sell them to us. We used FITS last summer for DH with no problem, but knew that if we got "caught" we'd have to trade it in for a different PH. People were posting that if Disney does question the validity of using these, they will give you the FITS face value towards your "new" ticket. Part of why it's so hard to find FITS is that they are market directly to Europeans, and in fact you'll see with certain ticket brokers, if you enter their sites by toggling "europe" as your home, FITS will come up. Paramount (now out of business) used to sell FITS to US residents via phone only, now DOV has them. If you decide to use them, just remember that you *might* have to spend more money for more limited access if anyone questions your use of the pass. Last summer, DH tookhis to guest services where they activated it (they take a finger scan) but didn't ask for ID. I think your best bet would be to look for postings from people who have used them recently, to see if they are having problems, then decide if you are willing to take the chance.

After reading the post you started the other day, I researched the FITS passes and convinced my wife that we should buy them even though we already have 7-day PHPs!!! I bought them on Friday, which was before they must have put up the disclaimer. Unless I hear differently discountorlando, I assume that I will get the passes. The only thing I can suggest is try to buy them anyway.

The way I look at it, the worst case scenario is that WDW forces us to exchange our FITS vouchers for 7-day PHPs and then we'll be essentially "invested" at the rate of WDW ticket price inflation - we will eventually use these tickets because we go to WDW every year and probably will for the next 10 years.

We'll be there for 2 weeks in March, so the best case scenario is that we'll have an Ultimate Park Hopper for that entire trip at a fraction of the price.

I already know what to possibly expect when I try to activate these passes, so I'll try not to get too upset if I have problems. Just remember, nobody has reported being forced to exchange their vouchers for PH or PHP tickets yet and the vast majority of people who have reported on these boards have had no problems at all.

Good luck.

Americans were never forbidden from using the passes. While the intended target group may have been the UK, anyone could purchase them and use them.
We just used some of these in June and had no problems.

I TOO WAS PLANNING ON PURCHASING THESE FOR OUR NEXT TRIP IN FEB. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE A US CITIZEN CAN STILL PURCHASE THESE?

My problem is I AM AN IDIOT and did not order the tickets the second I got the email from Discount Orlando Tickets! I got the email, heaved a sigh of relief and called my sister in law...she is putting all the tickets (8 of them!) on her CC - she wasn't home, so I left a message - big mistake! We didn't order right away and then the disclaimer showed up when we went to order them!

If the tickets don't specifically say they can't be used by Americans, why couldn't Discount Orlando's disclaimer just explain that and the possible hassle at the gate and then let me decide if I want to purchase them, rather than not selling them to me at all? I'm so stressed out over these tickets it's taking all the fun out of planning this trip. :(

Discount Orlando placed the disclaimer there either at the direct request of WDW or to potentially limit their liability with respect to their relationship with WDW. My guess is the latter. I don't know what an organization has to do in order to become a "Licensed Disney Distributor", but I'm sure that it is of considerable value to have this distinction. They have a conflict right now - on the one hand, they want to boost their sales volume and on the other hand they want to preserve their relationship with WDW.

Stop torturing yourself and either try to order the tickets yourself or get your sister-in-law to try and place the order. You'll find out soon enough about the nature of the disclaimer - they'll either get in touch with you and tell you that your order was voided because they can't sell you the tickets or you'll get the tickets in the mail. I would bet money that you'll get the vouchers if you order them. Either way, don't let this ruin your planning. I am also really nuts when it comes to planning and I want to have everything perfect. Just remember, you would have gone to WDW and been perfectly happy with 7-day PHPs if you had never heard about the FITS passes. If it doesn't work out, you just have to have that mindset.

1) I bought these while in Germany on business this year.
2) They work fine.
3) I was questioned by one CM, but showed my German receipt.
4) No questions after that.

This really annoys me.

We used the FITS passes last April. They were perfect for our 10 day trip. We went to Disney Quest several times. There's no way I would have done that with a park hopper plus pass.

I have another 10 trip planned for April 2005. I was planning to purchase the FITS passes again. I have no idea what I'll do now. The hopper plus passes and the APs don't appeal to me and the PAP are way more than I want to spend.

Its a little more expensive but they did also have the 10 World pass tickets--like FITS. You might check and see of someone is selling those.
Or make a buddy on the UK board and see if they will purchase them for you.

I READ THIS POST YESTERDAY AND WAS VERY UPSET AS I TOO HAVE BEEN WAITING TO PURCHASE MY TICKETS (SHORT ON CASH NOW). I CHECKED OUT THIS WEB SITE YESTERDAY AND IT DID SAY TICKETS CANNOT BE SOLD TO US RESIDENTS. I CHECKED IT OUT AGAIN TODAY AND THIS IS WHAT IT NOW STATES:

These tickets are meant to be sold to residents outside North America. Americans and Canadians have used these but be aware you may be questioned at the gate.

FROM WHAT THIS READS IT LOOKS LIKE YOU CAN PURCHASE AND RISK THE HASSLE AT THE GATE. I WOULD LOVE TO GIVE IT A TRY BUT WONT HAVE THE MONEY UNTIL JANUARY. IF SOMEONE TRIES COULD YOU PLEASE POST.
