My roommate is a Federal Goverment contractor and states she can have a Federal Goverment employee get 4 Day Hopper passes for us for $193.00. The problem I have with this is that I don't want to get to the gate and have to show a Federal employee ID. She states she has an ID that is the same as a Federal employees, but I just don't want to get stuck at the gate and have to buy tickets again at gate prices. I would rather go to the Dinsey store and pay $215.00 and know that I will get in and not have any problems. Is anyone familiar with the Goverment discount tickets and if you have to show ID at the gate? Your knowledge is appreciated.

we have never had to show ID for passes that my DH bought at Ft. Knox (he's a federal employee).

how do you get info on these passes? I'd love to know more!

Thanks for letting me know your experience with using your tickets. I am guessing that he would get them through their Human Resource or Payroll department. If/when I find our more information I will post it.

I have never been asked for my id either. we get them through our Exchange shop. They are the same price as the military ones. As long as one of you has a federal id (even if it is a contractor) you will be fine IF they ask. (I don't think they will).

Thanks Melissa, the more experiences I hear the better I feel about getting the tickets this way.

I am a Letter Carrier, and we had to show proof of employment. (I had a Union card & driver's License) I didn't even think to bring my work badge on vacation, so it was cool they let me use my union card. We are going again in October, and I will have my badge handy. www.attractiontickets.com has comparable prices, without the risk, though.

I'm DoD, and have had someone ask for ID and not ask for ID - but, this was buying it at MWR....I don't know about buying them at the gate....I think most of the govt discounts are pre-purchase type....could be wrong though.

We have used tickets purchased through the Goverment employee discount Program several times. In fact not one of guests using the tickets were govt employees and we had no problems. My Uncles H/R dept who ordered the tickets for him said that you had to be a govt employee to purchase the tickets but not to use them, they were ok to be given as gifts etc. but not to be resold.

I also used to get Hopper Passes very very cheap when FedEx sponsored Space Mountain. We had the same deal, we could buy them at 40% off and give them to anyone we wanted to (up to 15 a year) they stopped that now that we no longer sponsor Space Mountain....bummer for me, but again never had to show ID (unless we wanted to lounge in the FedEx room under SM!!)

WldWcnWmn,

Where at WDw did you buy yours? At the gate? My sister is a letter carrier too, and we did not know she could get a discount! Is it only on hoppers, or do you get discounts on single day tickets, too?

This is wonderful!! Per my roommate, the tickets must be ordered at least 20 days in advance from the HR dept. and they will be delivered by courier to the HR dept., where she will pick them up. I had one other question that she is suppose to check on today and that is whether there are extra charges for tax and/or handling or if it's a straight $193.00.

Thanks again for all your responses. I went to WDW last year while I was at the Tupperware convention being held at the Dolphin and brought a 3-day hopper pass for $165.00 through Alamo. If I had known this earlier I would have had her buy me a 4-day hopper and then I would have an extra day this time around...oh well...now I know. :)

We get our passes through DH's (he's federal civilian) ITT office all the time, $193 for the 4 day hopper, but be warned that it's not a park hopper "plus" which means you won't be able to go to the water parks. $193 is the total price, there is no tax added on to that. It's really a great deal. There is also a 5 day that we've got in the past, but we still have one day left on our hoppers from last year so this year all we need is the 4 day!

We've never been asked for ID either, in fact, they never even look at the tickets, you shoot them through the scanner, go through the turnstile, pick it up and you're on your way!

Just like the regular tickets then...Great! This time we don't need the plus since we aren't doing the WP or PI, but thanks for letting me know Blondie. Do you know how much the 5 day hopper passes are...I might need those for next year!

:wave2: Hi Blondie!

I'll have to ask DH about getting passes through the HR department at the Federal Building...I never knew there was such a thing, LOL! Since he doesn't work on post anymore, it's a pain to go over there for passes....

we usually just pick ours up at SoG

My husband works at the portsmouth naval shipyard in maine. We have to buy the tickets from the mwr (morale, recreation and welfare)office. You have to order them at least a couple of weeks in advance and pick them up at that office. The 4 day hoppers are $200, 5 day hoppers are $228, 5 day hopper plus are $260, 6 day hopper plus are $288, and the 7 day hopper plus are $317. We are also getting universal 1 day pass for $46 and a 1 day seaworld pass for $44.:thewave:

Can't you just get passes at Shades of Green? How about if you're not staying there?

My DH worked at PNSY from 1985 until we moved down here in 1991!

We do not have to order our tickets, they always have a stash on hand. Last time DH checked, they had 70 something 4-day hoppers at the old price of $193!

We can also get tickets for the places you've mentioned, and also the local themeparks like King's Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It's a great deal for federal civilian/military personnel!

Madge, definitely check it out! We like having our hoppers already in hand when we arrive. Saves us a trip to SOG!

Blondie, are the Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion tickets only available for VA employees or can the D.C. employees can get them too?

My dad is retired DoD and has gone back in to get passes for both us and my best friend. We have never been asked for an ID at the gate. As a pevious poster said how would anyone ever know that you were using a Federal Gov't purchased ticket because you slide your ticket through the ticket reader.

However, when my friend used her Universal ticket the reader for some reason would not read the ticket and the gate/ticket checker person gave them a semi-hard time because he had never seen a 1 day park hopper pass before. The went to guest services and got it straightened out though.

I don't think that you have a thing to worry about.

Well, we've bought them for visiting relatives before and they had no problem.
