Discount tickets convert to AP

I can buy Discount 10 day Park hopper from work at $384 child and $399 Adult. Can I then convert them to AP at the park at face value $409 and $429.

Also does tax get backed out too that would be $26.59 and $27.89 in tax

This could save me $132.83 once I pay tax on the discounted price.

As long as you use the tickets before upgrading, they'll be "bridged" to the gate price. Tax is irrelevant.
