I was wondering if there are discounts for park tickets if you buy into DVC. We will most likely be buying next week after we see what our tax return looks like. I don't think we would get annual passes though because we only go once a year.

Currently, the only discount for tickets to the major parks is for an AP or PAP. There are no discoutns for MYW tickets. There is a small discount ($4 for an adult ticket) on an admission to PI or the waterparks.

A lot of people here use their AP for two trips. Just plan your second trip to start the week before your Ap expires. This way you get two years worth of trips with one AP.

So the AP is for one year from first use date, no Jan-Dec?

Also how much is it and can you use it at both DW and DL?

A DL AP is good at DL. A WDW AP is good a WDW.

APs don't work like regular park admission (first use). If you buy an AP today, you receive a voucher which you "activate" at guest services. Your AP is good for a year from that day.

You may find that once you become DVC members you will go more often. Before DVC I used to go every two to three years. After DVC, it's usually 3-5 times a year (even if it's just for a long weekend).

I believe an adult DVC AP is $335 (but could be wrong). I'm sure someone will correct me.

But please be advised, the discount on the annual pass is a current perk, and perks change.
When we originally bought into DVC, there was a percentage discount on all park passes. That disappeared, and for a few years there was no discount on park admission.
The annual pass perk started, what, a few years ago now? I hope it doesn't go away any time soon.
But it isn't necessarily a forever kind of thing, so don't use that as a factor when deciding whether or not to buy into DVC.

To clarify -

If you buy the AP/PAP on site, the first day of your year of admission starts on that day. When you buy on site, you get the actual pass.

If you buy online (via Members' Website if you want the DVC discount) or by calling MS, you receive a voucher or will call number. In both cased, your year of admission begins when you exchange the voucher or pick up the pass on site.

No matter how you get the actual pass, adults need to show their blue membership card and a photo ID.
