Hi,

We were planning to go to WDW on November 30th of this year. I just got an email from Jetblue that their fall flights are being released tomorrow so I want to buy tomorrow if the price looks decent.

I just searched last year's discounts, and November 30th-December 7th were excluded from the free dining offer.

Should I asssume that week will be excluded from any offers this year as well? I am thinking of changing my date to November 9th, but that will be a bit of an inconvenience for some people who are travelling with us so I don't want to keep changing plans!!!

Thanks so much!

That may have been because of Pop Warner being there - they typically don't offer discounts because the value and moderate resorts fill up that week. From what I have been reading, I'm not sure if FD will be offered anymore, but there should be discounts coming out, hopefully.

November 9th is Veterans Day weekend, end of Jersey week, I also think there's a marathon. You may want to try November 16th.

Thanksgiving is November 28th this year (I think it was the 22nd last year), Pop Warner starts December 7th (it was December 1 last year).

Thank you so much for the responses. Although now I'm more confused than ever! ;)

The Pop Warner Superbowl in WDW will be the week of Dec 7, 2013. If you check in on 11/30 you probably have a decent chance of some sort of room discount, but free dining is highly unlikely.

The chance of ANY discount with a check in of 11/9 is slim to none because of 1) The End of Jersey Week
2) Includes Veteran's Day holiday week
3) F&W Marathon is that weekend.

Those 3 events will load the resorts, even at full price, so no need to discount what folks will pay full price for.

Ok...so it looks like November 16th! Thanks for all the help everyone!

I will be traveling November 10-17 and I picked this week because they did offer free dining last year. The marathon ends on the 9th and the last day of food and wine is the day I'm travelling down. Veterans day is usually not that bad due to the fact most Jersey week people will be heading out and this holiday is not considered a major holiday for wdw. Most . people still have to work.As far as free dining goes, not sure what they will do this year. I think they offered free dining last year was because they cancelled the convention and they probably thought they were not going to bring in the crowds like they did in prior years.

Why do you say free dining is unlikely?
The Saturday after thanksgiving has had free dining for the last two years and Pop Warner started a week later just like this. Going by historical discounts

Disney has said for years that they are going to be cutting back on discounts. Danny25 (who has has some VERY reliable inside information considering discounts this past year or so) has also indicated that Free Dining may be going away. I don't think it has been offered at all for 2013, with the except of folks who booked the free dining bounceback last summer for late summer 2013 (and perhaps some isolated pin code offers )

Disney offers discounts to fill hotel rooms. Late November isn't anywhere near as "empty" as it once was. If folks will come stay on site at rack rate (or a small room discount), why would they offer free dining to those that are willing to pay for it? As for early November (one of the weeks the OP originally asked for) I would say the odds are slim to none of ANY discount, especially with a 11/9 check in date. Just too many popular events (and lingering folks from those events) to need to offer a discount.

I just hate for folks to get their hopes up about a discount that might not be coming. :(

The Nov 9th arrival is unlikely to see discounts, I would go with the Nov 30th arrival when I expect you will at least see a RO offer for that time period.

Added plus all the resorts and Parks Decorations and Events will be in full swing after Thanksgiving.

Historical discounts are not very meaningful. January and February of 2011 and 2012 had free dining but it wasn't offered in 2013. It would be nice if it was offered, but I wouldn't count on it.
