Is it hard to do self check out with gift cards? I wouldn't want to mess up the activation?

You have to have help in the self check out lane if you do this I believe.

I went out to my Kroger store and they didn't have the $50 cards either. Just the $25 or load your own price.
I spoke to the customer service person and she said if I got 2 of the $25 ones, she would take $10 off. I jumped on that and grabbed 2 and she rang it up and when the $10 came off it said "customer loyalty discount".
Just wanted to post in case some others can ask in their local Kroger if they would do this too.
Now I wonder if I found a $50 card at another store…if it would take off $10 for me

Yes, that is exactly the situation I had yesterday. First was a management override on 2 $25 cards. Later in the day at a different Kroger I found a $50 card and though I'd try it and $10 came off, no problem.

When i went online yesterday it said $5 off. Do i have to go back on and re-download the coupon to my card, or is it automatically reverting to the $10 at register?

I had to do the exact same thing! I am totally going to find another Kroger with a $50 card before December 31 and get the discount to come off with my plus card!

I picked mine up today. Tried one Fred Meyer and they didn't have the $50 cards so went to the one by my house. Going to get a few friends to pick some up too.
