I was just on the phone talking to Disneyland (yay!!) and they were talking about a discount card/book that you can use at DTD (and Disneyland?)
I asked what the specials were, and he said it varies from place to place. Some are buy one get one, some are kids eat free, some are 20% off, etc...
But he wouldn't give me any specifics.
Has anyone seen/used this book?
Can you tell me what kind of deals you got?

Thanks so much!

Yes, it is just a little wallet-sized booklet that they give you when you book a package through the Travel Company. It is only good for the duration of your stay at whichever DLR hotel you pick. I had one in December 2007 (I wouldn't go through the Travel Company again because the extra money spent through them and the fact that they keep at least $100 of your money if you have to cancel is not worth it, but it was good to do one time just to see what we got with the package). I think my discount booklet had discounts at all the DTD restaurants and many of the shops too. The deals were not that astounding - just 10% off here and there, and there were usually limitations on times and things. But any discount is better than NO discount, I suppose!!!

See, the Premium (and often Deluxe) AP holders can get discounts on a lot of the DTD places too, so it is actually cheaper for many of us to get AP's, which can be used for discounts on DLR hotel rooms, discounts on DLR merchandise and dining inside the parks and the hotels and at DTD restaurants/shops like World of Disney, etc., not to mention getting the admission year-round to both parks. So I would only go through the Travel Company to book a package if you are not intending to go to DLR often and have no intention of buying an AP. Then, the discount booklet may come in handy for you. Otherwise, it is usually cheaper to just book a room at one of the hotels through Central Reservations (room-only, not a package) and get your tickets separately, either on the DLR website or through one of the websites that offers them with slight discounts. Also, if you go through Central, you can cancel all the way up to 5 days prior to arrival and get a FULL refund, unlike with the Travel Company, where they hang on to some of your money!

Again, it was nice to have a WDTC package one time just to get the little perks like the pins and the luggage tags and the discount booklet and priority seating for Aladdin and It's Tough to Be a Bug, but it is not worth it to do again for me. I learned that lesson here on DISboards, when everyone kind of clarified for me the better ways to go about getting discounts and tickets and hotel rooms, etc.!!:goodvibes
