Discontinuing production of your favorite products

Mars Bars exist in the UK - they are what you would call a Milky Way.
Marathon Bars also exist, under the name Curly Wurly. They sell for about a quarter.

Viennetta is also plentiful here, but I don't think it would ship well ;)

Personally I'm more annoyed that we cannot get Cheez-Its or Goldfish crackers over here :confused3

No Goldfish?? What do the English children snack on?? (Kidding, but my kids love them!)

Dh and I both loved Marathon Bars and we got a hold of some of the Curly Wurlys. They are as good as we remembered marathon bars to be. :)

My dad swore he saw viennetta in a dollar store of some sort. I have not personally seen it so I don't know if he was confusing it with something else.

Although Kraft is still the best, I will crave the golden grain mac and cheese every so often. I finally found some by mail order but it didn't taste the same.

Other things I miss-

small (9") Tombstone pizzas with sausage
McCormick stir fry seasoning packets
Jolly ranchers in stick form
Lipton's potato seasoning

Then there are things that you can get, just not where I live.

The product I miss the most right now are Starbucks Frappuccinos. You can still buy them but they "improved" them to the point that I find them undrinkable. It is SUMMER. I want something similar I can drink and McDonald's and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf are not cutting it.

It happens with my running shoes and it is annoying.

I find a model I like and 3 months later (if I'm doing long distance training( when it is time for a new pair---the brand changed it and my shoe is no longer
available. It is really irritating.

I can't say that I am brand loyal---but I hate when things are changed and I can no longer buy them.

Evidently, when my script allergy meds go OTC, they are no longer effective. I don't get it. (benadryl is OTC and works, but the amount needed for a day is quite a bit and it makes me drowsy.)

Cottonelle individually wrapped wipes. I think they are still made, but I can't find them anywhere.

My DH has been looking for Land of Lakes frosted butter cookies, they were so yummy! We used to be able to buy them at the grocery store but we havn't seen them in years. I've even looked online!

I did find some yummy cheese balls in Germany that taste exactly like the Planters in the can you used to be able to buy in the US.

!! Something to look for in the local German store that I never go in!

Also...

Snapple Elemetals. I loved Rain and Fire. Rain especially. The only way I could describe it is that it tasted like what the color blue would taste like if blue had a taste. Usually, when I got other people to try it, they understood my explanation.

Oboisies potato chips by Keebler.

Key Lime Almond Joy.

I know I'd thought of others, but they are escaping me right now.

Someone mentioned Jello Pudding Pops. They did redo those, but I don't think they were quite the same. And Vienetta...once upon a time, they had it at Big Lots, but not so sure they'd still be doing that.

I have the same problem with sneakers as a PP.

I miss the Betty Crocker blueberry muffin mix that had the can of real blueberries in it instead of the dried berries they have now. The batter does not taste the same at all.

Magic Middles cookies helped me make it through college. They were a mini chocolate chip cookie with a soft chocolate center.

I'm still bummed they got rid of jello pudding pops and those ice cream sandwiches made with brownies for the outside. The Jello Pudding pops cut me deep man....

We make our own pudding pops in molds all the time. The kids love them. Actually the whole neighborhood loves them:rotfl: I go through a package or two of pudding a day in the summer (did in the US and seems to be just as popular here in Germany). You should try it sometime.
Bras--this has to be the WORST. You find a bra you like and when you need to get more, they have been discontinued. I hate bra shopping.
YES!!! The first thing that popped into my head was the Maidenform front hooks style that I wore waaaaay back when. I am still upset about it being discontinued and it has been about 15 years:rolleyes1:lmao: I should get over it already:rotfl2:

I'm still mourning the loss of Diet Coke Vanilla - the greatest soft drink of all time :sad1:
I remember US Mars bars--they were not the same as the milky way like (but better) Mars Bars sold in Europe. They had nuts in them (almonds I think).

Over here I miss York mints and Lands End sandals and Pampered Chef stoneware..
DD13 misses Rootbeer, Twizzlers and Target's jeans.
DS11 misses cream soda, Nilla wafers, Nutter butters and clothes from The Children's Place.
DH misses Taco Bell (ick:scared:) and Franks Red Hot.
It IS funny to see what things you end up missing isn't it?

Too many scents at Bath and Body Works to count. I still haven't forgiven them for discontinuing Tangerine Spice, and that was almost 10 years ago.

Viennetta ice cream is what always comes to mind when I see these threads. This was a nice ice cream dessert and perfect for special dinners.

Its now a seasonal item. I know in this area you can get them at Kroger and Meijer during the Holidays. I can't find the Mars bar post, but those are now Snickers with Almonds.

How about Planters Cheese Balls that used to come in a can?

Or..what was it called...? Crystal Pepsi? The one that was clear? (Okay...I may seriouslyl be in the minority on that one, but I liked it!)

For a while, Mello Yello was near to impossible to find around here, but, thankfully, it can be found again. (Not that I should be drinking it...but, if I'm going to get a soda, that's usually the one. I was having serious caffeine withdrawls when I couldn't find any on Disney property in October '08 and wouldn't drink anything else. Oh..the headaches!)

I was really young when Crystal Pepsi came out and I remember my family really liked it. I know several people who also loved it.

Tuna Helper Tuna Pot Pie. I loved that stuff as a teenager. My mom would want me to cook dinner sometimes, and I always liked to make that. I don't really care for any other Tuna Helper or Hamburger Helper.

A few from my quirky list of out of production products I sorely miss:

- the original formulation Tylenol Sinus (picture of it from 1984 TV ad below). That was the only OTC med I ever found that really helped my sinus conditions. They changed some of the active ingredients in the product about three years ago (different decongestants) and it now doesn't work nearly as well as it used to. This isn't just my opinion, my doctor says she has heard that from many of her patients.

- Mr. Clean Autodry , a car washing system that significantly sped up cleaning your vehicle, by using a filter to de-ionize the rinse water so you could allow the car to dry by itself with no spots (the traditional approach -- "towelling down" a car completely -- takes more time than one realizes). P&G stopped producing this early this year, presumably because sales had fallen. The system worked well if you carefully followed the directions, but from reading reviews I got the sense a lot of those who tried it didn't and consequently end up dissatisfied. If you still have one of these, there is still some inventory of replacement de-ionizing catridges out there, but as it shrinks the prices for them are getting ridiculous.

Lime fritos - those were addicting. They might still be available in California, but I never found them anywhere else or on their website. I've had something similar in Mexico so I think it is a Mexican thing.

Of course I am still missing a candy bar from DECADES ago called hi-noon. Caramel, peanut butter and chocolate. I try all the recent combos but they never are the same.

Now I can never really tell the difference with shampoos. They all seem the same to me except for the scent. But I have pretty thick hair with body so I'm really only looking for something to clean. I'm picky about conditioners though or else I end up with tangles.

I was really young when Crystal Pepsi came out and I remember my family really liked it. I know several people who also loved it.

hahaha, totally forgot about that until I read your post, I think I was in 3rd or 4th grade when that came out.

I used to like little barrels of shredded potato, made by a company called youngs, and sold in a shop called Kwik Save (now gone) in the UK.

No matter what similar product I buy (and I mean almost EXACTLY the same) nothing tastes like them. I could have LIVED off those potato barrels. I think they were called Crunchies, kind of like croquettes but with shredded potato rather than mashed. Mmmm. Now I'm nostalgic...

Something I want over here in the Uk is those little pieces of potato you get in america for breakfast, little savoury cubes. Drool. I had little mountains of those last time I went to Florida. Hotel only had them for a few days out of 14 though...

Now I'm hungry :rotfl:

Do restaurant "discontinueds" count? When I was in college, we couldn't make it through a late-night study session without a run to Chi-Chi's for their seafood nachos. I *still* miss those! RIP, Chi-Chi's.
