DISBUG's Grand Adventures & pictures (Cont...from the SWAN/DOLPHIN FAQ thread)

How funny--my last day in the parks was 8/2 and I started at EPCOT also! I entered from the International Gateway (from the Swan 7/27-8/3) and also hotfooted it to TestTrack and rode in the single rider line...it moved much faster than the Mission Space single rider line. I had tried Test Track earlier in the week, but couldn't even get a fastpass after noon, which is when we usually ended up there. For lunch I ended up at the Norway pavillion as well, but just had one of those "something-maiden" cups with the applesauce and whipped cream. Bad dieting, bad dieting...

We did have a good time on our trip anyway--it was just a little disconcerting because none of the other group seemed interested in planning a schedule, so I just figured we would just meet for meals...then they decided not to have meals, and would call each day for instructions on where to go and what to do. Had I time, I probably could have figured out something that dovetailed better with them, but all I could think of was to try to adapt our schedule for them which had middling results. Definitely I would try to do more comprehensive planning if we were to do this again.

Happy Birthday! What fun reading your reports! Now I want to go back and see everything at Christmastime...:earsgirl:

Way to go firstmickey! (Of course I don't mind you posting on this thread!) I hope you have so much fun! I love those little spurts of spontaneity myself! It keeps us young, don't you think? Where will you be staying? Looking forward to hearing your trip report!

~#1hockeymom: thanks so much for all the special wishes. This year I decided not to have a "party" per se, just wanted a low key day, since we had just gotten back from WDW, the girls are starting school, and DD14 BD is the 27th and DD8 BD is the 25th. I'd rather plan their parties at this point!

~lonegungirl! See I thought we were there the same time! We were at EPCOT on Sat, Aug 2! Were you wearing your lime green?

Happy morning, all... it's back to work for me!

lonegungirl and Disbug ~ I was still at the Swan on 7/27 and we were in Epcot that day. DH and I saved Epcot for last - we did UoE, SE, DH was chicken and wouldn't do TT (although he had done it before) and I was chicken and wouldn't do MS (nervous about feeling claustrophobic), and then went over to WS to the movie in France and lunch at Chefs de France - escargots and a cheese platter. Continued on to China to see the newly revised movie, stopped in Italy to get my charm bracelet, onto Maelstrom and Mexico. Spent time in between poking in the different shops.

We left for home on 7/28 at noon, so spent a leisurely morning at the resort with a breakfast at Garden Grove.

Donna ~ How wonderful for you and your friend. Have a great time - we'll await your reports.

I will be wading through my pictures for the last installment of my trip report, "The Hoop de Doo"! See you soon....

Great trip reports Disbug! Looking forward to the last installment!

After our refreshing nap, I take advantage of having the bathroom all to myself (Wow! What's that like??) and am dressed for Hoop De Doo by the time rest of fam starts coming in. DD8 is next while I get my hair dry, then it's time for my littlest cowgirl! Have to put some pigtails in her hair for that "look". She is a doll. Will finish her costume when we get to the Pioneer Hall. Just when things are going good disaster tends to strike and tonight is no different! DD8 can't find anything clean to wear! (What! Even with laundry being done??) Apparently I have packed some things she has outgrown giving me a false sense of how many outfits she has. Inspiration strikes and I call SIL. After explaining the situation she says, "Got it! Meet me halfway!" So, I run down the halls, hoping I am heading the right direction and meet her after rounding several corners...! "Thanks so much!" "Not a problem!" and we run back to our respective rooms. DD8 is happy as the dress we borrowed from DNiece9 fits great and matches her cowgirl hat! Whew! Happiness returns...

At this point I have some confusing thoughts as to whether we should get there early to make sure our table is up front (I had heard stories on some of the boards that tables are assigned not by when you make them... up to 2 years in advance... but by when you check in, so I wanted to cover all my bases!) I call all the rooms and say Let's Meet at the Dock by 6:15 PM. Everyone scrambles and we're out the door, ponchos in hand! At this time, I pass out everyones gifts for this evening and they include, real brass metal "sheriff's badges" with personalized names. (Mine was Dodge City Denise! Others included: Wild Mike Hiccock, Stacey Ingalls Wilder, Hop Along Kurt, Tyler the Kid, Calamity Kelcey...) I am also wearing my denim pin vest and a bandana with my denim shorts.

Our group gets separated because one of the boats won't let DD2 ride in her wheelchair/stroller... so we have to wait for a different style boat. Luckily, SIL on the 1st boat is "with the program" and has gotten in line at the check-in window so the wait isn't bad at all! (Thanks, Stace!) We get our assigned seating and wait to be let in with everyone else! The kids have run over to the petting farm for a few minutes. In the meanwhile, I put the finishing touches to DD2's costume. She is now dressed in black embroidered cowgirl boots and a black and white cow girl outfit complete with fur vest and fringe! Adorable! (Will be listing it back on EBAY where I found it if anyone is interested!)

When we are finally let in for the 7:15 PM show we have a great table. Actually 2 tables, one for 10 people and right beside us, one for 5. I must say that rumor was false, based on when we checked in, we should have been upstairs in the back somewhere... we were right up front had a great view. We LOVED IT! When the waiters started bringing out the food we were a little startled as they "plop" the pail of salad down on a pewter plate and it makes a loud clang... which is intended to be a part of the show, but unexpectedly makes us all jump (especially poor little DD2!) I'm glad she didn't start wailing..Woh!

The meal includes all you can eat and drink and when we ordered our wine, were we ever surprised to get a mason jar full of merlot. (Chardonnay and sangria were also available, as well as beer!) Let's just say I didn't ask for a refill! The fried chicken is my favorite, but it also comes with some pretty tasty BBQ ribs. Sides include, baked beans and corn. The bread is very tasty with a honey butter spread. Strawberry shortcake comes at the end of the meal...

The show is pretty funny and the singers have very good voices and (darned cute to boot!) But, they seem to be a little green as a "troupe" and I find they were not as funny as the show I had seen 2 years ago, where I could hardly eat for laughing so hard! Not that the show didn't have its moments, mind you... just wasn't quite the same as I remembered. My family proclaimed it hysterical and enjoyed it immensely... At the end of the show, the cute "ditzy" blond kissed DNeph13 on the cheek and called him handsome on her way by his table! A highlight to be sure (that cheek is probably not getting washed!) We all proclaim it was worth doing.

We head back for the marina to catch a boat back to the WL. Here is where we meet some Disney Magic! The boat that arrives is not going to WL but the MK and Contemporary... thanks to the CM on the dock calling them in advance, they make special arrangements to drop us off first! (Is that not sweet!) Thank you CM Ray and your wonderful crew who helped make us feel special that night! Pixie dust to you! Walking back up the wooden dock to the WL in the semi-moonlight, we are all walking slower to reminisce over our magical evening and share with others who had never been to the Hoop de Doo... This is our last night at WL and it has been a magical night indeed!

Great dinner! Even better pictures! Your daughters are both beautiful, and I can see where they get their good looks! :) Thank you for sharing your *drum roll* GRAND ADVENTURES with us!

Everybody is packing up... bittersweet as you all know! Have enjoyed every minute. Poor DH and DD8 now seem to have a cold. When we meet up with rest of family at Roaring Forks for breakfast, turns out Dad, DSis, and BIL, all have pretty bad colds!
(When we get back home, Mom, and DD2 get colds, too!) Woh that was some bug!! (Don't LOOK at me, I'm the DIS-BUG!!)

We enjoy breakfast as for some reason we are hungry. DH has stayed in the room to pack up while we eat. I send him up a breakfast sandwich and coffee after a little while. We plan on leaving as soon as we're packed, grabbing lunch along the way home. Couldn't catch the mass at Mary Queen of the Universe shrine without waiting another hour, so we decide to go to evening mass back home.

DB and SIL have farthest to go, heading back to NC so they leave first. We are next. Mom and Dad decide to stay awhile longer and go back down to the pool and marina with DSis, BIL doing the same.

GOODBYE, DISNEY! GOODBYE, WL! IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN FUN, IT HAS BEEN A DREAM!

~Disbug-
Thanks for posting your grand adventures! I'm going to miss them, too! My husband thinks that I'm crazy; always running to the computer before bedtime to see what's going on. You and the other DISers make the LONG wait untill Easter so much more fun!

TinkOhio! I didn't think I would ever make it to the end when I started... am still waiting for family to read and add their 2 cents! I may have one more installment that would be the "Oh, I forgot About this!" thread...LOL!

Thanks again to the Tag Fairy for my latest tag! I love it!

Disbug ~ I feel the pain of leaving all over again through your final report! BUT --- Thanks again for sharing - your writing is so descriptive that I was right there with you all and that's why I felt the sadness of a Disney-trip-coming-to-an-end feeling. As I've said before - The one thing I HATE about Disney ------- is coming home! :( :)

~yes, mouseteacher! It is the hardest thing about our trips, letting them go and getting back to "reality"! But appreciation of the sun is only gained by having the clouds drop a little rain! So I will look forward to our next trip and live vicariously with all the others as they share with us their wonderful experiences!

Happy thoughts for you today!

~marymrg! Looking forward to your trip report. Not too far away! I hope I included enough informative tips along the way. Those are only gained by experience and I am hoping to gain lots more with my AP this year!!

Have a good night!

Your stories have been wonderful to read! You have quite a way of putting everything into words, allowing us to see, taste, hear, and feel everything! Thank you for sharing! I am sorry it is over!

Debbie

~Thank you, Debbie! You are so kind to me. I know you must be very tired after a full day "at the office"! I'm so glad for you and know that you were postponing a trip to "the World" until your job was secure... I will especially look forward to news of your next trip!! Have a good night's rest, you deserve it!

*smiling* Thank you! Truthfully, I am completely exhausted! You deserve every bit of praise for your stories, though, and then some! You have done a wonderful job writing, and an even better job putting together this whole vacation for your family! I hope they realize what a treasure they have in you! Martha could learn a thing or two from you!

I should be putting a counter up, SOON! *I am thinking about Easter week*

Debbie

:Pinkbounc Hopping up and down for your "Easter Week" vacation!:bounce:

OOOH! And that gives you all this time to "THINK" about it!!

Comparing ME to MARTHA! (I'm feeling faint!) That woman can do it all, can't she. (I just hope she doesn't have to do it from jail!)

Now if I could only put together a Disbug Cooking, Gardening, Crafting at Disney kind of thing I would be living my dream life!! I could be a resident co-organizer of major DIS CONVENTIONS or something like that!!

I'm having a brain wave here......:p

Bravo! Thanks for posting! I'm sad it's over but happy to see your countdown clock. You will be preparing to return in no time!
