I am pacing in my room having just checked into my glorious 2 room suite at the 2* LaQuinta Lakeside. The 2nd room is the bathroom, but this is my story so I'll remember it the way I want, Okay? LOL! I'm wondering how all the "SpyWare" got into my room so quickly! Surely they didn't know I was coming? Maybe I gave myself away when I wouldn't listen to the agent at the Front Desk who wanted to sell me "tickets and timeshares"?
The phone is the first give away. I pick it up to check the dial tone... zip, nothing, nada!
So, I go BACK to the Front Desk to inquire. The clerk is confused and asks which line wasn't working... Well~ as I just said, the P-H-O-N-E line (thinking he may have not heard me the first time...) "Yes, but WHICH phone line?" OH, well... I didn't realize there was more than one! So I wave to the secret agent at the ticket end of the counter
and gracefully back out! When re-entering my room, I find a phone on the bureau AND by the bed! WOW!! This is a 2-star resort first for me!! Not only are there 2 phones, there are 2 phone lines and you have to push a button down for a dial tone (just like at the office...)
Well, I'm alone now and TikkiMan doesn't mind if I look stupid!
I jump when the phone RINGS! "Hello, this is the Front Desk calling to see if your right index finger is working now?" Well, he didn't say the part about the finger, but he should have! "Oh, Yes! I see it is still connected to my right hand and I think I have it figured out now! Buh, bye!"
Now that I have figured out how to work that finger, making PS's at MGM's Mama Melrose's is in order for this evening. I have heard great things about "MGM's Little Secret" in regards to this restaurant, so I must experience it for myself! I make a toll free call with my calling card first and no problems... finger working fine! The next call is just around the corner to Disney Dining and... will NOT connect! NO! I CANNOT CALL THE FRONT...."Hello, me again in room 111! Yes, I AM enjoying my stay so far! Is there anything I need? Well, a teensy tinesy little something... I just made a 1-800 call, no problem, but now it appears I cannot make a local call... Yes, I am sure Orlando is a local call...Yes, I'm sure Disney Dining is in Orlando...Yes, I have paid my Resort Fee. Small unmarked bills? I guess so, it was only $3.50/night. Try it again, now? Great! See you soon!" I figured my luck would change if I quit saying "Buh-Bye"!
With my evening PS made for 7:15PM I have time for a pot of coffee before jumping in the shower! And well I would if my index finger had not malfunctioned again! There wasn't any power to the coffee maker! It shares an outlet with the hair dryer and neither the "Test" nor the "Reset" Buttons work! I double check... I triple check.... I pray to GOD to check!" No go... I have to call.... "HELLO! Front Desk? Well I.. yes I AM enjoying my stay so far! How can you help..? You know, it's the darndest thing... but after paying off, I mean paying my resort fee... part of the fee was for a coffeemaker. Yes, I DO have a coffee maker and it is very nice. But, I would like it more if there were any electricity to make if work! Maintenance is on their way? Gre... Excuse me someone is knocking on my door! Thank you, and expect another call in about 5 minutes, okay? You, too!"
Granted I COULD have moved the coffee maker to the bureau, but NOT the hair dryer... Not only was the duplex outlet cheerfully replaced, but the blow dryer cord is lengthened to fit the new outlet, a bad lamp bulb is changed out, I'm shown how to make the refrigerator colder, and he changes the security latch screwed into the door, as it is broken in half! There is NO way I am calling the Front Desk again, unless I am checking out! So, I turned on all the lights, the appliances, checking for hot and cold running water, flush the toilet a few times... Oh, yeah.. finger is working fine!
I give the Maintenace man a "thumbs up" sign as he leaves for the last time (I hope... LOL!) and go ahead and call the Front Desk just to save them the trouble! "Hi, it's me again in room 111! I hadn't called in about 5 or 10 minutes and was getting lonely! No, you really can't help me this time! Just calling to say HELLO! How are you enjoying having me for a guest so far? Good! I'm glad! Yes, I will be sure to call back if there is anything you can do to make my stay more enjoyable! Buh-Bye!"
After a thorough sweep for "bugs" (spy bugs, not insects LOL... after all, I AM on a Secret Mission!) I declare the room to be clean and I settle back and get ready for tonight... Ya know.. I'm getting kinda hungry~ I've been so excited I haven't eaten yet today!
