GOOOD MORNING! What is all that pitter patter going on outside my window? Peeking out the window at my car which is taking a shower... the rain that held back yesterday, is visiting this morning. I KNEW I should have put the suitcase in the car last night, but TOO tired! When I am packed I grab the umbrella and make a dash for it! Times a wasting! One of the nice things about the LaQuinta is you can park your car 12" from the front door of your room so I don't have to carry everything far!
I am too excited about moving over to Old Key West to let a little rain dampen my spirits (my socks, maybe... but not my spirits!) Last but not least, I load TikiMan in the car (you haven't forgotten about him, have you?) He is still floating on air... and having a fab vacation as well..
I am driving through the front gate at OKW in no time, and checking in at the Registration Desk. AH! Feels like the tropics here. They really have great theming at this resort. When you walk up, even the Jimmy Buffet music makes you feel like Key West! My studio is not ready but they can tell me it is in Bldg 14 which is VERY close to the hospitality house and it is on the 1st floor! WOW! That is great! I can call back later to find out what room I am in... I also have a message from Cindy and Bruce~ remember the nice couple I met last night? They leave a number I can contact them after 11 AM. Great! So since this morning is supposed to be rainy I decide to visit Disney Quest over at DTD. I still have a bit of time before it opens at 11 AM so I decide to drive over to the Dolphin Resort to inquire at the Concierge desk about our Sigma Delta Sorority Box and Journal. As I walk up, I am lucky to see the face of the original person I had talked to about it. But the BOX is STILL not there... I think they forgot about it after I left.
The Concierge decided to go down to Security and check on it herself... I was probably at the Concierge desk "visiting" with the other CM's for about 30 minutes, when HERE she comes! AND she has OUR BOX and JOURNAL! WHEW! What a relief....! But when I open the box... there is nothing inside!! I had left a pad of paper, a pen, and Muffy had left a DIS pin inside for the next sorority member to find... That made me SAD right there... HOW could a CAST MEMBER DO THAT? The journal and box had originally been in a zip lock bag to keep them together, but even that was gone. So I decide to just count my blessings, smile and thank her so VERY MUCH! I will have to think about how we can keep our box and journal more secure for the future.
Before heading back to the car, I have time to do a little exploring. I have to gather information for our Sorority Dismeet in July... I was able to explore inside the new restaurant FRESH over at the Dolphin. What a beautiful new establishment! It's the best cross between ala carte service and buffet pricing. I was VERY tempted to enjoy breakfast here that morning... but was not very hungry after my banana split fest last night!
I'm still a little early but I can walk around DTD before DQ opens so I head there. For those who have never been Disney Quest is a giant virtual arcade with 5 floors of everything from video games, bumper cars, virtual reality rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, a Jungle Cruise raft ride, a virtual Space Mountain roller coaster; and carnival games like skee ball, etc.. It is themed for all ages. There is even a Cheesecake Factory on the top floor for something to eat. It is an afternoon of fun for a rainy day!
I have been once before with DD9 but only rode a few things since the lines were so long. I wanted to try them all on a less busy day. When it opened, I was the first to go in and had the run of the place! So I ran from ride to ride with no wait! I tried them all. The most fun? By far was the Pirates of the Caribbean ride! I did that several times... great fun! DO NOT MISS! If you are going to do Disney Quest. I would do the Pirates first and then the Virtual Roller Coaster. Two or three hours later and I've had enough! With the exception of all the arcade-like video games I've been able to try everything! It WAS fun! The weather doesn't look too bad (it quit raining right after I loaded my car!), so where to now? Back to EPCOT!
