I am amazed at all the BIG GIVE outfits. Everyone has really outdone themselves with their generosity. I am still anxiously awaiting my appliqué from eBay before I buy any fabric.

I do have one concern though and it is fairly selfish on my part. Everyone is being so generous with their contributions that Isabella could not possibly wear each outfit during their trip. Part of me would feel awful (maybe even rejected, like she did not like my dress) if Isabella did not get to wear my dress/top since I will have spent time (and money) on making something for her. I have issues with feelings of inadequacy (as you might be able to tell). Due to these feelings I am second guessing myself about participating in the BIG GIVE. I feel so selfish right now to feel this way. Please do not judge me harshly.
I felt like that at first too, but the way I see it is that I'm hoping that Alicia will see all of the outfits and see the happiness in her DD's face and then maybe she might want to start sewing for her again. Sewing might give her some joy to keep her mind off of the bad for awhile. Just like this thread started alot of people sewing again or for the first time.

I adore this and so would Roseanna! She loves Giselle! Is that a pillowcase that you used for the top?
Actually that part was from the sheet. I tried to applique the pillowcase part to the top and it did not work out.

One more pic.....I finished this one last night too.

I think it is cute the way it is, but I also think that a Minnie Mouse flower would be cute on it too.

Anyone else with a daughter that now expects you to sew all of her clothes???? I don't know what to do. I make one dress and DD was p*ssed this morning that I didn't have a dress made for her to wear to school :rotfl2:
Yes you just described my daughter. She wants her entire summer wardrobe made by me. You should have seen the arguing that went on when I told her that the Giselle dress was for someone else. :scared1: She threw a bit of a temper tantrum.

Thank you to all for the kind words on my "Newbie outfits"!

Now I have a question for you all (sorry if this has been posted, but I'm just too tired to go back and read everything...darn pregnancy hormones;) )

Where can I get some very cute Nemo fabric???:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I shop at JoAnne's and they definately have Nemo fabric.

I have found it at Wal-Mart and Hancock Fabrics. I also found some on ebay and at a decent price.

Her hair is very easy. When I blow it out and flat iron it it is the texture and looks like mine (lots of indian in my hair). What I really hate about it is that I adore twisties and puff balls, and since she has had a perm twisties are not as puffy as they should be :( and no puff balls at all. :(

BTW for what it is worth my sis in law is AA and she would never consider just letting her childrens hair air dry she said it is much harder to deal with and braid when you do. I blow dry her hair on cool at the lowest setting brushing it straight and it does cut down on some of the tangelies. I did it to my little guys hair when she was going to put it in cornrows (it is still to short at the top :() and we joked he looked like Don King lol. I do know what you mean about being worried about damaging her hair though! We only flat iron on rare occasions and that is with heat protectant in her hair.

I always love Zoes hair it is so natural! I think the tight curlies are beautiful! :goodvibes

Thanks, I really like Zoe's hair when it's done but I'll admit I tend to wait too long sometimes before I redo it. It's funny about your SIL doing only dry hair. For me, I've felt that Zoe's hair combs out more easily when it's still wet. I try to braid or otherwise style it while it's still damp. I also use some wonderful smelling vanilla oil spray (from Carol's Daughter) to help moisturize and detangle. I may try the blow dryer next time, though, to see it it helps me to be able to get the shorter hair braided in. Now if I could get my parts to be more even and straight. :lmao: I really should get her in for a trim this summer... I just hate losing even a little bit of the length she finally has. My poor baby had very little hair until she was about 2 and then it seemed to take forever to get thick and achieve much length.

She does love it--she won't take it off! It's not for Disney b/c we are going until maybe next year but I'm trying to decide if it needs something on it? Any suggestions or should I leave it alone?

I think it's cute as it is but the first thing that came to mind is to add black mickey head silhouettes around the bottom. Not so many that they'd be right next to each other but more to create a little border. They could even be just in the front.

I like the idea of putting something around the bottom! That way it is Disneyish! Thanks!

I have a quick question that hopefully someone can answer...what do ya'll use to make hair bows nice and stiff? TIA:)

I use ribbon stiffener from Aileen's. You can get it anywhere.

BTW, I started out using the pump sprayer and it worked fine but then it got clogged up and then it didn't cover everything but left it spotted. Now I use a q-tip and cover the whole ribbon with it.

I love this...is this a pattern or how did you make...looks simple...kinda what I had in mind for DD's minnie outfit...just shorter like a top?:confused3

It is just a simple pillowcase dress. Teresa has some instructions for it in the bookmarks. I am not good at explaining things but I believe the bookmark instructions have pictures.

The first one of these I made last year, had to be made into a top b/c I didn't make it wide enough for the dress to look right -- I made bloomers to go with it.

WOW! I went away for a few days and then took a few days to catch up on housework and other stuff. Over a 100 pages I had to catch up on! Glad I missed some of it.;)

Everyone has posted some beautiful stuff! I love it all. I have some new outfits too share, just need to get my pictures together.

Also, after all the talk about sock curls, I did get my perm. It came out great...will post soon too.

I just wanted to say that I really missed you guys. I don't have many in life close friends. I have felt a little down the past 3 days and I think I just missed being on here.

Promise to post some pics later.

Oh I am so glad to see my fellow NC back! I was just about to ask where you were at! Want to see your hair...I posted my mop...you must share now too!

These are SOOO cute! I love the sock monkeys!

Hey did anyone watch the mtv movie awards?? Johnny Depp won 2 (so we got to see him twice) :rolleyes1 His hair was looking very 21 jump street-ish. He is so cute!! :bitelip:

I was busy watching him in Pirates...again!:lovestruc :faint:

Okay dance Moms:dance3: ...say it with me...PHEW! :faint: Busy week, was it not? Everybody looks priceless!:goodvibes

Yes! Another year over!!! 3 months of Saturday mornings to myself :) Now, DD's dance teacher is trying to convince me to join the adult class :rotfl2: No thanks, recital week is crazy enough without having to get myself ready for it too!

Has anyone seen lavender rick rack? I have looked both at joann's and wally world with no success!!

I am working on the Aline top - do you top stich it? and, is there a simple way to finish it?

Oh, about the big give - Isabelle's mom said she loves to wear those clothes all the time! So if she has more outfits than days there, she can have fun getting excited bout the trip by wearing some before they go!! Also, this is something she may remember for the rest of her life - the kindness she and her family got from strangers.....it may have a big impact on her, and she is so young - maybe some day she may be able to help another person in need...you just never know how you are impacting a little one for their future:goodvibes

Thanks, Wendy

I think everyone is putting a lot of emotional effort into these outfits as well as time, so it's understandable that you've have some anxiety about it. Perhaps if you thought about it in terms of EVERY single outfit that Isabelle receives gives her so much joy! Every time she opens an outfit she is excited, she gets to try it and model it for mom and dad and just feel good about herself. Every outfit gives her a moment of respite from the loss. She also gets to see her mom being excited and rushing to get the camera and making a big to do over the outfits. Even if Isabelle doesn't wear every outfit on the trip, every single piece she receives is Pixie Dust to her and to her mom and dad. She may be young but she is well aware that her life changed drastically with the loss of her little brother. Any moment of seeing her mom excited and happy is a healing moment. Every outfit that arrives is helping that family to to be happy about Disney. This Big Give effort is not only giving outfits to Isabelle, it's giving back to the whole family that feeling of anticipation and excitement that we all love before a trip. Now they have something to think about and plan for, options to pour over, instead of thinking every second about who won't be there.

So your generosity of time and effort is helping this family to heal. I know that that family appreciates every single solitary effort that has been made on their behalf!

don't be anxious. give yourself a hug for doing such a wonderful thing for people who need every single second of joy and excitement they can find.

:goodvibes
Aww geeesh, did you have to go and make everyone cry!!!

You expressed this perfectly MissCammie! I kept trying to put into words just what you said here, but when I tried, it didn't make much sense!!! Thank you!

Aww, she is cute!!! I love the Minnie dress. I like it the way it is.

We just got home from Target and they had an endcap of Fancy Nancy things. The Poodle dress and some doll clothes. I did a quick check on Ebay and it seems people have already been buying the items and marking them WAY up to resell on Ebay. :( So if you want them for your child, you might want to RUN to Target LOL.:moped:

YEP! And matching doll clothes LOL. I was informed, "Mommy I can't wear that to Disney, you didn't make it" LOL:rotfl2:
