I have to admit, I was just skiming tonight, and probably would have missed your post if not for the big red letters! LOL. For DD's skirt I used one storybook. If you want to get 2 skirts out of one book, you can do as AimeeG suggested and make it a stripwork skirt, with coordinating fabrics. I did not seperate the connecting pages. I think there were 10 pages, so I had 5 pieces to attatch. (Make sense?) Here's some close ups. Hope I was some help!!

Thank you for the pics and info. The book that I bought has numbered pages and they are not in order. That's why I asked if you cut them apart. I think that I will be cutting mine apart just to put them in order. I think I have that same Pooh Bear book as well.

Since it is kinda slow tonight...I took some modeling photos of Lily today in some dresses that didn't sell at the boutique :confused3 We did pretty well though, Jen (sugarbees) has a TON of custom orders for her cute pillowcase dresses. We may never hear from her again.

When I tried this on her today I decided that even though it is too big, I am KEEPING it! It looks so stinkin' cute on her and she LOVED matching her dolly baby Anna.

I love the fabric on the first outfit!! If these were the ones that didn't sell, how cool were the ones that did!! Glad it went well.

I have practiced on a few appliques and have had good results with putting the applique on denim but have had problems with anything knit. I would like to put an applique on a t-shirt. It doesn't lay down good. Any suggestions. The outfits are great! I have copied a few for my grandchildren and their mother loves them. Don't know how to post pictures.

I was really please with my t-shirt applique. I used stitch'n'tear (made by vilene) which you just iron onto the inside of the t-shirt and then it stops any stretching or moving. When you've finished it just tears away.

I've been thinking about doing this for DD8 because her jeans are starting to get too short or the hole fade has hit. Can I ask was it easy to get the cotton fabric attached to the jean fabric? I'm worried about breaking my needle through the jean fabric.

It was a lot easier than I thought. I kind of had to "gun it" if you KWIM to go over the thick seams, but other than that no problem. And my machine doesn't like denim. I was also too lazy to find and put in one of the denim needles I bought for my machine.

You need to use sulky stabilizer. I use the iron on tear away version. If I don't use it on knits and thin fabrics my applique is a mess! Check Heathersue's applique tutorial for better instructions/info!

Help!! On the last thread, someone posted a link to a store selling fabric with planes on. I'd bookmarked the store as there were loads of fabrics I liked the look of. DH has rebooted the computer this morning and lost all my bookmarks :headache: . I've scanned thru the last thread but have no idea when or where it was.

Can anyone else remember which shop it was? I thoughted I'd replied to the post but can't even find that now when I look!!

I think DH and his credit card are working in cahoots against me!!!!

I've been lurking since Jan and am a long time sewer, but had been in a lull. You guys got my creative juices flowing- and made me buy a serger. And restock my stash. And buy Ottobre. And buy Farbenmix patterns......This is a very expensive place to hang out. My DD6 checks out the new posts daily with me and has been bugging me to put her pic here. She loves looking at the other kids and knows them by name. We have also had to do the sock curls for 10 nights in a row.

It took me a while to figure out how to post, but here she is in a CASED HSM top. No sock curls today.

I'm so angry....grrrrr....after waiting 2 weeks for fabric to come from Malaysia, they sent the WRONG!!! fabric...grrrr..now I guess I will have to send the fabric back to Malaysia..and wait another 2 weeks to hopefully get the right fabric, and I'm sure I won't be reimbursed for shipping costs. :scared1:

Update, the Malaysian lady got back to me and told me to keep the fabric she sent. I'll have to post a picture of it, because I will never use it...and see if anyone else wants it.

I bought 2 of those Bilibo things to give to my grandkids at Christmas! I thought they looked like fun- but I don't know if they have played with them.
Nice outfit- your son is a cutie.

I love the crayon holder. Did you use a pattern? I want to make one as we always have crayons everywhere and that would help!

Love the dresses and I can't figure out why they wouldn't have sold. They are fantastic! If these are the ones that didn't sell, I bet the ones that did are out of this world!

I made two skirts out of one book. I was not super happy with the way they turned out. I put a green strip between each page but for me it was not full enough. Next time I will either make them wider or use one book per child.

ETA- I am really have problems with photobucket. My pics are always clear and pretty and then photobucket makes them icky!!!

Thanks so much! I'll buy two of the books since I'll need two skirts! That is the book I'm looking for too, did you get it at Joann's? I noticed them there the other day (of course I hadn't seen this idea at the time so I didn't buy them) but I really didn't look to see which stories they had. I was at Hancock's and they didn't have any, although, our Hancock's is really a pit.

I hope I wasn't being rude with the big red letters! I know if I skip over stuff that is the only way I notice certain things is if they draw my attention to it somehow. Thanks so much for your help I appreciate it!

Happy Belated Birthday Nate!!! Love his outfit...I just bought some of that fabric last week to make my ds a pair of shorts.

Where did you find the pattern? I think I might use that idea for favors also.

It's in Teresa's bookmark...but here it is in case you can't find it:

Nope, not rude at all. I mentioned it because I would have missed the post without them. Joann's had a lot of different storybooks today. Ones I've never seen before. I think the directions for the crayon carrier is in the bookmarks.

I love these outfits!! So cute - are these considered pillowcase dresses? If so, how do you do the ribbon part? It doesnt look like regular ribbon - more clothy????? I love it !! Also, have you washed the Mickey MOuse fabric yet? Did it bleed or discolor? I have some of this and would love to copy your outfit, but heard someone report of discoloration with this fabric???? Great job to you or your "sewing buddy"!!! Glad you are here!!!
Wendy

I don't think it is fading and has been washed twice. It hasn't bled that I can tell. I just made these on the cheap to fit more like shirts than dresses. They aren't a pillowcase pattern, the neckline lays flat and the ties are the same fabric as the top and bottom portions. I think all four dresses cost less than $25 to make. They will probably only wear them once. Twice if we do laundy while we're there. They ended up fitting perfectly so no double duty for 2009. We will only be in disney a week so I figure 3 sewn outfits will be good for us.

I'm not really creative but know I am running out of time to do these cute things. DD5 already refuses to wear a bow most days.
