Wow your 3 year old is very talented those appliques are too die for. When my daughter was 3 she had no fashion sense you are very lucky

Yes, my dd is an incredibly talented young girl. She is not only beautiful but smart. At a very young age she has established her own individual style. She will not wear pants or shorts. Jeans are out of the question. We too do not have messy hair!

She has an excellent eye for color, pattern and all things matching. She is particular that earings match her outfits and shoes. I am very proud of the fact that from a young age she has learned to always look her best. She also works very hard on Princess like qualities. She knows that it is what inside that counts and how you treat people matters. She has excellent manners and is very respectful.

My DD was 3 at the time she designed her Ariel sundress. She wanted something special to attend her Great Grandfathers 89th birthday. She picked out the pillowcase and all the fabrics for the outfit. She helped me cut everything and sat by my side while I sewed it. She was very excited to help me serge the seems. We even took a picture of the beautiful colorful pile of serger scrapes.

Oh and I did not use a pattern. I made the pattern myself.

I had several quotes, but honestly, I'm way too worked up right now to even respond to the CASE discussion that has occurred this evening. I MUST comment to the above quote. I've been in this thread since the very first page of the very first thread. I've skimmed a lot, and at times been more involved than others. I do remember drama. I don't recall this group. I must say that I do not believe that this comment could be even closely referring to the board that I currently maintain. The activity that is mentioned, to my knowledge, has never occured on the Disboutiquers board. I just had to say...

Perhaps this is a good time for me to take a break from this thread for a while. I certainly wouldn't want to be accused (and now I can't help but wonder if I have been in private conversation) of CASEing someone's design.

Is scrappindisney your photobucket account?

That is awesome she is showing such a strong talent so early, I wasnt being sarcastic I was jusy being honest my daughter at 3 had no fashion sense. And she had messy hair but it looked good on her in fact it made me mad she had such great beach hair but hey that what makes kids unique. Sounds like you have a Channel in the making

totally just realized, you have more than 10 posts... wooo hoooo you can do pics now.. that is a big miles stone for us disers!

I love this pattern!! What is the number?

If you were to go up to the garment district in NYC, you'd find that the designers all copy from one another. (i've worked in retail for 30 years, most of them as a manager/groupmgr). As an example, INC swim is actually designed off of Calvin Klein. Did you ever wonder why, when you walk into a department store, everything is pink or green?

My picture is one that you used as an example. And frankly, I don't recall ever seeing the picture of the your purchased outfit you posted. Although I'm sure I did at some time. It's quite lovely I might add. Which one of the outfits you pictured is exactly likes yours? I must have missed that one. Photo bucket seems to give those little stamp size pictures. But isn't it also a pattern that we have all been looking at on YCMT? Hmm... I love the Mickey ears on the little girls tops. I should have done that.

Sally there are actually QUITE a few. Photobucket is quite easy to use if you need to see the picture bigger and more clearly, you just click the individual picture. I know this is CASE'd because nearly every one has the same material used in the original and the same children with the mouse ears on them, , which I know the designer thought up. Maybe this orignal is one you did not see because as I said this was almost a year ago that the actual designer of the outfit posted it.I don't recall whether you were posting here then or not. But then there are a lot of new people here.I am sure if you would like to go back and look through the first thread you will be bound to find it :) . The pattern may be YCMT but the design is certainly not.

Revrob - there was another group. t-Beri is NOT talking about your board (which is great btw). I have never seen anybody post anything but good things about your board. There was another group that went to yahoo groups. It all started with the sharing of e-patterns and discussing and posting of ebay pictures/auctions. They created a private board to do so.

OK, going back to lurking now. At least until DH takes pics of some of things I actually sewed.

Oh wow, that is really lovely. You are so talented. I love seeing all of your designs. They really inspire me :)

Here is the Ariel dress. I CASED the bodice from Carla's pattern, and I CASED all of the appliques, and I CASED the fabric choices, and I CASED the pink trim on the bottom, and I CASED the "stand in front of the door" style picture and I also CASED the "take a picture of your kid with messy hair"
Enjoy!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :dance3:

I was part of the Yahoo group for a while until I couldn't keep up with the posting there either. I know for certain that there was never any pattern sharing that took place on that board while it lasted, are you thinking of the short-lived thread that spun off of the original Disboutiquers thread when it was first created? That was here on the Disboards, not Yahoo. I think that thread lasted less than a day or two before it was shut down.

No, it was the Yahoo group. Somebody posted an epattern in the file sharing part and someone else reported it to the author and then it got taken down.

Others had hinted at sharing but I don't know if they did or not. It was too much to follow (I don't like the yahoo format). Plus, it didn't seem as fun or friendly as the Dis thread.

Well, the big news... I guess it's just news now, it's probably going to be a let down now that it's been built up.
...t.
Oh t - that IS BIG news...and exciting news!!! I wish you the best in all of it. You can do it girl....you rock.

That came out really cute!!

The hat is instead of bows, as I wasn't convinced Hope had enough hair!!! I can't remember what size I made in the end but its huge!! Lets hope it fits by December!!!

I left the dummy (binkie) in especially for you guys!!! I think Hope's teething at the minute and she won't take it out her mouth at all.

I love the hat! The whole outfit is adorable, just like your baby!!! So cute!!!

Can't wait to see what the big give ends up like. :woohoo: GO DISboardies !
Ohhh I can't wait to see the results of our BIG GIVE!!! I am so excited about it. :cool1:

Wow Steph...you did an awesome job on that!!! It looks wonderful.

WOW...you have been busy!!! You did an amazing job as well!!! I need to do a scrapbook one of these days!

Speaking of help, thanks to LisaZoe for the dental tape hint to making ruffles faster! I.
Okay I musta missed this..what's the deal the dental tape???? Help, please!

New Update on my Aunt.

I just talked to my sister (who drove STRAIGHT thru from TX to Michigan, but did make it safely). They are planning to move my Aunt to the "step down" unit TOMORROW instead of Tuesday like they originally planned :cool1: :cool1:

:cheer2:

Hey Cindee...that is GREAT news!! I am so glad to hear that.

I was thinking it was a little depressing too...all week we've been discussing doing a kind thing for someone who suffered an unimaginable and tragic loss. That is the spirit that I love about this place...and really that kind of loss puts things into perspective...at least for me.
I total agree!!!!

On a lighter note, I just ordered this delightful Robert Kaufman ducky fabric

Wow,

I am not really sure what happened here. This board is better than this. We have ALWAYS supported one another. We have cried and laughed together. We have encouraged and taught and learned together.

Me either!:confused3 I just came back today and I am thinking I maybe should not have!:scared:

Tip/Trick I learned from Nana and Ooohhhh...Im blanking on the other gals username- her Mom sews and told me.

get yourself some dental tape the length of the fabric you want to ruffle,
or use decorator's cording (in the decorator's section at Joanns- go for the thinnest you can find)

Then sew a zig zag stitch over the cord/floss, careful not to catch the cord- then ruffle- TADAAAA!!! Works really great when ruffling a lot of layers.

SOMEBODY- tell me how hard is that Simplicity Princess pattern to do? 4949- I own it- and am inspired by Lacy's photo several pages back.
Should I take this on??
You all have seen what I have made so far- I typically cant do complicated stuff and i need decent directions......I almost stopped and bought fabric today- but I'm afraid.

Im going tomorrow to pay a teacher to privately help me for $25 an hour to finish my husband's shirt- because I have no one to ask and I refuse to ditch the project. gotta go rip out the collar now (almost midnight) and I have to be there at 8:45am tomorrow!!!

SallyfromDE Im so sorry- the auction is over, I thought the # was in the picture i got off ebay. maybe if you google it. I found that pattern by ebay searching for "Simplicity Princess"

totally OT!!!

Here i am sewing, dising and watching soapnet... have not seen days in like 9 months. They changed the time it was on.... what is with john he is talking funny. anyone watch wnat to give me a quick rundown?

I totally agree! I have been on this thread from the beginning and at the time I was hand sewing stuff. I have come a long way thanks to you great ladies and Tom of course. I took a break from the boards after Mark was deployed and have finally had time to get back on recently and have really missed everyone! After the BIG GIVE and lovey dovey posts yesterday it is really sad that everyone is getting like this. Let's get back on track. I have nothing new to share as I have been painting my tv room today and putting together furniture (poor DH is coming home to a new house!) Anyone have any fabulous creations to share? Elisa, I love the new Ariel outfit and all the old pics of Ireland. She is just too cute!

I am going to go with this view. I have no opinion on who is right or wrong (or if anybody really is right or wrong). Just hoping that we can get back to being friends and playing nicely with one another! I know I missed a few pages since I got behind and I have no idea how it started and I don't think I want to go back and figure it out since all of the tension is making me nervous and sad.

I posed a very simple question about case'ing. The threads have been around about a year and I just wanted to see if people's views have changed or grown in that year.

I have been getting a lot of requests for the autograph book so yes that is one of the reasons it has been on my mind. Yes, there are many people who case and take inspiration from others but . . . my artwork was flat out stolen and sold for profit. It did occur to me that it does not matter if it is paper or if it is fabric it is still not right. Even though I am a SAHM I am also professionally an artist. I see sewing as a form of art.

I am sorry if anyone is upset or feel like this was a heated subject. I was interested in seeing other peoples views and it there is nothing wrong with having a discussion.

Just checking to see if I changed my signature correctly!

Okay, it's got the correct date now! Yeah!

Wow, that sounds easy enough...thank you!!!! :goodvibes
