Hi girls, Can I join? I'm Monica and have two dds Lilly 5 and Mia 3.
First I'll have to admit I don't sew. I pick the pattern, fabric and do the cutting but MIL does the actual sewing. I can sew but my machine broke a couple of years ago and she's so fast that I haven't felt the need. Maybe sometime.
DD3 has the same outfits and the Mia shirt is hers but she doesn't like modeling so I'm saving you from her scowl.
Sorry some of the photos are sideways. I'm not that great at photobucket either. I have to add some buttons to the swing tops still. I am also going to see if their nemo and tinkerbell dresses from last year still fit. I made those big on purpose.
The shirts and leggings I made so they could sleep in them the night before our 7:30 am flight. That way they are alreay dressed but still comfy to sleep in.

Welcome!!!!! Great outfits!!!

http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/hair-accessories/How-to-Make-Boutique-Hair-Bows-Manual.htm Has anyone bought this yet? Wondering if it is worth buying? I am trying to find something to guide me through making bows lol.

I think these are the same instructions I have... I bought them on :wizard: a couple of years ago... I really can't tell you much about them since I have used them to make exactly ZERO bows since then :lmao: but I can tell you that they are better organized and written than another set of instructions I had purchased before these. Probably doesn't help you decide on purchasing, but thought I'd share.

Okay, I finally have something to post. I made DD10 the easiest ever skirt last night! I love it! We just used some old jeans that were too short and chopped them off and added 3 tiers. They were the Circo jeans from Target so they were kind of thinner denim. I think that helped make it so easy.

I LOVE this!!! My mom made me a similar skirt when I was just a little older than your DD. What a great memory this brings back.

Hi girls. This is totally OT but I had to share a bit of info. I just called and booked VMCP tickets for Nov 30 and the CM told me that we could go ahead and book dining for the party even though it was further than 180 days out and that included CRT!! So we got a 6:35 seating at CRT the day of the party!!!:cool1: :cool1: This is the only ADR I was worried about getting. We plan on doing 1900 Park Fare too so I really wanted to get dinner in the castle and I think it will be perfect to do that and then VMCP. Sorry, I was just so excited and thought someone else might be able to use the info!

I have a question for 2cutekidz. Actually, anyone that might have the answer could answer too! I loved the Pooh storybook skirt that you made and shared in the last thread. I am thinking of copying the idea if I can find it in the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme. Did you use a whole book or can I get two skirts out of one set? My DD2's (soon to be 3) birthday party is going to be a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme and I want to make skirts for both of my girls and was just wondering how you figured it out. Any help would be so appreciated! TIA!

hmmm...you just gave me an idea. My favorite jeans just wore out in the leg...I could use a new skirt...do you think 38 (or 29 as the case may be *ahem*) is too old for a skirt like this?

Since it is kinda slow tonight...I took some modeling photos of Lily today in some dresses that didn't sell at the boutique :confused3 We did pretty well though, Jen (sugarbees) has a TON of custom orders for her cute pillowcase dresses. We may never hear from her again.

When I tried this on her today I decided that even though it is too big, I am KEEPING it! It looks so stinkin' cute on her and she LOVED matching her dolly baby Anna.

I was wondering how you did your DD's skirt as well. Did you cut each page completely seperate or did you do them in the order that they are in? You know how two pages are connected together? Did you seperate these pages or just do them as they were? I guess I want to know if you can post a close up picture? Since I probably don't make much sense.

And just so you know, 29 is not even close to be too old for that skirt...you've given me a GREAT idea...if and when I ever get to sew for me or my own children :rotfl: Not that I'm complaining!!!

I made two skirts out of one book. I was not super happy with the way they turned out. I put a green strip between each page but for me it was not full enough. Next time I will either make them wider or use one book per child.

I have to admit, I was just skiming tonight, and probably would have missed your post if not for the big red letters! LOL. For DD's skirt I used one storybook. If you want to get 2 skirts out of one book, you can do as AimeeG suggested and make it a stripwork skirt, with coordinating fabrics. I did not seperate the connecting pages. I think there were 10 pages, so I had 5 pieces to attatch. (Make sense?) Here's some close ups. Hope I was some help!!

I've been thinking about doing this for DD8 because her jeans are starting to get too short or the hole fade has hit. Can I ask was it easy to get the cotton fabric attached to the jean fabric? I'm worried about breaking my needle through the jean fabric.

I love these outfits!! So cute - are these considered pillowcase dresses? If so, how do you do the ribbon part? It doesnt look like regular ribbon - more clothy????? I love it !! Also, have you washed the Mickey MOuse fabric yet? Did it bleed or discolor? I have some of this and would love to copy your outfit, but heard someone report of discoloration with this fabric???? Great job to you or your "sewing buddy"!!! Glad you are here!!!
Wendy

I have practiced on a few appliques and have had good results with putting the applique on denim but have had problems with anything knit. I would like to put an applique on a t-shirt. It doesn't lay down good. Any suggestions. The outfits are great! I have copied a few for my grandchildren and their mother loves them. Don't know how to post pictures.
