I haven't been able to post the last few days! With work and baby prep, I just don't have the time, but I have been lurking and admiring all the beautiful work!! The appliques are just amazing. I haven't tried one yet, but I have the materials to make a face from the Small World fabric.

And I need to get cracking because I got my new machine yesterday!!! I ordered the Brother CS6000i from Overstock .com. It said it was factory reconditioned - but it looks just perfect and all the pieces are there. I haven't tried it yet. I got it all opened and ready but didn't have anything to sew!!!:sad1: I am working on it though.

So if anyone is looking for a machine, I would go ahead and try overstock. I got my machine, which normally goes for about $190 from Waldemort (with tax) for only $128 (using a 10% coupon and $2.95 shipping). I guess you could get a lemon, but it has good reviews!

I can't wait to see everyones creations and hope to post some more of mine on here soon! Have a great rest of the day!!

I ran into a snag and need some help. The criss cross dress calls for a piece of material 45" wide to make the skirt. The LE material is only 42" without the bias. Would you just go with the width or make two panels? I would like a fuller skirt but I am afrain 2 panels might be too much. HELP!

I think 2 panes that would be too big, how about two cuts of fabric 22.5in wide?
which pattern is this before I start giving info.
thanks

STEPH, Too funny, a Diskid crush:love: Tee Hee! BTW I think M's dress turned out great! I'm sure she was thrilled. Better start clearing your calendar I only have 4 months and 4 weeks left to finish my Little's outfits, remember Big Mac asked for some stuff to match his sister so I think I'll be making a few mickey head tees.

**CAUGH**I would LOVE some Fish Are Friends Fabric if anyone has extra**CAUGH

This is for Star Bright's Criss Cross dress on YCMT. My mom thinks the 2 panes would be better to make it full and hit the seams right.

1) Thank you! It is simplicity 3857. It says it is easy and it was pretty easy, I had to put in a zipper and the binding around the sleeve was a little tough. Let's just say it was harder than a peasant dress, for sure!

2) I don't know what's up with that, but every time she makes me take pictures of her leaning over the rail. Also, she demands one of her toes in the water. I think she is happy Tom took down the pool fence (I am not so happy about it, obviously).

3) I remember the U.P. discussion! I think it's like the panhandle. People ask where I am from and we all call the area the panhandle and some people look like I am crazy.

4) I think Jacob might have a little crush. He asked me if he could have his own DIS account. I don't know who he wants to contact! ;)
1.)It looks great!! I have the itch to start some sewing again.
2.) I sort of figured that was her idea for a pose! At least we get to see the back of it!
3.)The look on his face was priceless! My Mom lived in Florida as a child, so I am familiar with the term "panhandle", but I can see where some people would think that was a funny place to grow up, now that you mention it!
4.)I think Arminda would be very happy to hear that! And, so far, he has to be one of the nicest crushes she has ever had! He is such a sweet boy!

I would do the two panels, I like nice full skirts though.

lots of pages to catch up on, but here are 2 pics I wanted to post.

Here is DD with our 2 labbies Darby (black) will be 15 in Oct, Jessie (yellow) is 6. DD has a temp and cough and runny nose- PLEEEEEZE be gone by next week!

Here is outfit I finished last night- just have to do waist band.
I was going to run some elastic along the inside edge of yellow trim on shorts to gather it just a bit- but DH (who says he can't "see" things unless its already done) says leave them as shorts- what do you think?
sorry this pic is so crummy but its cold and rainy and my house is a mess at the moment....

also- I used fusible velcro for inside, but velcro doesnt seem super-duper strong, but it was easier than button holes or hand sewing snaps-I may add a hook and eye.... I used fabric glue for mickey heads-works awesome!
can't see very well- but this was my first attempt at using a more filled in decorative stitch- they are hearts.

So, I totally cased this from Tadamom! I hope you do not mind. My MIL bought the shirt and I had the fabric in my stash. DD loved it yesterday but her little sister was wearing a Snow White custom today. That did not go over well!

Anyway, thanks so much for the cute idea and I hope you do not mind!

This is really cute, can you tell me what pattern you used? I love this. I am not so good at paper patterns though.....

Hi, haven't been on here for a long time....just wanted to let anyone know who goes on the Disney Cruise....you know the vests that the waiters wear in Artist Pallete...they start out black and white and then reverse to the colorful Mickey side? They sell that fabric in the gift shop on board! It was in a lot of 5 yards premeasured for $25. It was one of my best finds on my recent cruise.

Happy sewing...haven't been sewing at all lately... bad me. Have to wait for another trip with Makayla!

Susan

Have to mention that I went to the DVC meeting on the ship and my name was drawn and I won $300 ship board credit!!! YEA WOW...I was so excited I scared the guy who was drawing names!

LOVE IT! I am a sucker for monkeys. My gymbo was sold out of that shirt when I went in and I never got it for her. Seeing this makes me want it even more.

question for you ebayers. I am trying to get started on selling my stuff on ebay and was hoping for any tips that anyone would be willing to share with little old me. My 1st auction didn't sell but somehow my pics got all distorted so that may have played a factor.:confused3 I have a couple wthchers on other auctions but no takers yet. Does it just take time to get established or is there something that I am doing wrong? I hope that my stuff is ebay worthy but now I am feeling that ping of rejection. I am hoping to make money for our trip when DH gets home from Iraq because he is super worried about $. SO I figure if I can earn money that we are not counting on then it would make it easier to go. Sorry this is long but I just need some advice and I am feeling lonely today and missing DH. On a side note I found out that he is moving from a pretty safe place to Baghdad and I am less then thrilled. I already am super worried over my bro who is in Ramadi and now I can be super worried about him too. I may be gray by the time they both make it home.

Maybe add your ebay id to your siggie, and when we check out your auctions, we can give tips?

"Big Give" Possibility/Opportunity!!!!

Hey did any of you watch Oprah's BIG GIVE when it was on? I thought it was a rather inspiring show, I really enjoyed it. I have an idea on how we might be able to help an old DisBoutiquer who lost her sweet baby boy in a tragic car accident last October. I haven't brought this up to her yet because I don't know if anyone will be interested in helping or not. I have never met this person in real life, as she is an online friend, but she is the sweetest and bravest person I know. She has been through a lot and I just wanna help anyway I can. She has an adorable 5 year old little girl and they are planning a trip to WDW in few months. I am hoping I can talk some of you into donating a Disney themed outfit for her little girl. What do you guys think?? Can we "GIVE BIG"????

(Like I said, I have not mentioned this to her yet as I wanted to see if any of you would be willing to help first. Please PM me if you are interested in this possibilty. If I get some takers I will talk to her and make sure it is okay with her and then get her daughters measurements. I am planning on making her a few things. Maybe some of you have some gently used Disney customs that are just her daughter's size???)

P.S. If this is not okay to post, I apologize. Let me know and I will remove it. Thank you all!!!!

UPDATE ON BIG GIVE!!!!

 Okay I just heard back from Alicia and she is overwhelmed by our generosity!!!! She was in tears and could not believe we were going to do this for her daughter. She asked that I pass on her thanks and appreciation to all of you who have so kindly agreed to help!!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING!!!!

Now I am just waiting for a few more bits of information from her and then we can set this plan into ACTION!!!! You guys are truly the best and I just know that this act of kindness is going to make a huge impact on Alicia and Isabelle. They have been through a terrible tragedy and if we can make them smile just a tad then it is so worth it!!!!

THANK YOU AGAIN FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!!!!!!!: :lovestruc
