Hi Everyone,

okay - i have a silly question -

how do they measure the preshirred fabric - by the top or by the bottom??? thanks, wendy

This may seem like an obvious question but...I have no idea how to sew on ribbon or ric rac to my garment so the thread isn't visible. Could you help me out? hehe thanks :)

I topstitch ribbon close to the edge, and for ricrac I just stitch throurh the middle if it is not actually going into a seam. May not be the "proper" way, but it works for me.

Welcome back Teresa and Heather!

I have spent literally all day working on Megan's Alice dress and it is done. I would show you pictures but my computer is failing to recognize my card for some reason.

Anyway, it did not come out the way I wanted it to and there are plenty of mistakes but it is done and she seems happy with it. Or course there is a purse included with the pattern and she asked where her matching purse is. :headache: At least it will be easier than the dress I hope!

Well, DH just got home and there are dirty dishes in the sink and I can hear Jacob just playing random notes on the piano instead of practicing so I'd better scoot. I'll try to catch up later.

I can't wait to see it Steph!!!! Megan is such a cutie, I'm sure she looks adorable in it!

TRIP REPORT TRIP REPORT TRIP REPORT :cheer2: popcorn::

Working on it, working on it! Well, I took notes while we were gone anyway! And, I've been thinking about it today!

EGADS!! I didn't forget about you!! I honestly thought I'd typed your username in. Sorry!! I even saw you twice!
Now I'm going to have to go back and see how bad I looked in the picture you posted! ;)

It was me that looked silly, you looked good!

I recognize Ursula and Vanessa. That is the same applique that is on a leg of a custom outfit I bought on Ebay last month. Is that where you got the inspiration?

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time no post Tink! How are you?
We will be in the World in June but my 2 of my grand daughters will be there in September. Here is an Ariel outfit for the 3 year old but I was afraid the face was to big for the 8 month old so this is my first applique of Flounder and the flowers to cover up my goof. I found the panels on sale for $2 each was so excited.

The outfits are so adorable!!!!!!! You are doing such a great job!

I just try to match the thread to the ric rac and sew down the middle of the ric rac.

Thanks for the tips but, I have this really really thin ribbon that I wanted to trim my sailor collar with and I'm not sure what to do with it.

Not as talented as the rest of you but here is a non Disney I made 3 of for the grand daughters.

This is my first post with pictures so I am not sure I am doing this right. Maybe I will learn if this is wrong. The picture is turned upright in photobucket and I don't know how to change it here. Sorry.
Aww that is so cute!!!

You can add me to the list too. My sewing skills may not be sterling and I don't have a serger, but i am willing to make something.

Oh THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have added you to the list. My sewing is not the best either so no worries!!! You are a sweetie! Thanks!!!

Oh I love these ones...so cute!!!

Just updated my TR! (2nd time today, for those of you that already stopped by)

im loving all the creations with the YCMT scoop neck sundress. Im so tempted to buy it, but my husband would not be happy. Im having my surgery in a lil over a week and we have to pay money for our co pay. We will also have some meds to buy, so I will have to wait till I sell something on ebay to cover the cost :confused3 LOL.

DISisters, im really enjoying your trip report and photos.

OK, here is the Alice dress. I really wish I could have done something with an apron, but I only had a yard of the main fabric and a half of the coordinating. I think she likes it because she tried to wear it to school today. I convinced her to save it for Disney!

Darn dog!

IMG_0515.jpg

After she went to bed I made a wee purse. And it is wee! I didn't realize it would be so small. When she woke up this morning she said it was perfect. :lovestruc

IMG_0517.jpg

Um, all the junk on the counter is just so you can get the size, lol!

I have a field trip with Jacob and a playdate after school so no sewing for me today. :sad2: I'll try to check in and see what everyone else has made though!

I LOOOOVE it Stephanie!!!! That is really really cute!!! What pattern did you use for this? I can tell that Megan loves it too! The wee purse is adorable!

And, I love her new lean over the pool rail pose!

Have fun on the field trip! Tell Jacob that Arminda's class had a great time in the U.P. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Arminda's class had a trip to Mackinaw Island while we were gone, which as any Michigander knows, is referred to as The U.P. (must capatilze it, because it is an "official" title) However, when I told Jacob that Arminda's class was going to The U.P., he thought it was very funny! Apparently Floridians don't know that term!

Hi all! Surprised to be hearing from me during the week and during the day no less. It can only mean one thing.......yup....you guessed it.....

Poor littlest (love that word T) woke last night with a fever and stomach virus. :sad2: Poor thing......we are home watching Enchanted and snuggling with gingerale and toast. Exactly how long till I get it?? :confused3

Love all the outfits posted and Castle love the pic with the mean sisters! Welcome home TJ and HS again.....awaiting a link to the trippie today????!!!!

I am getting really good at ripping out stitches! :headache: I worked on the elastic part of the criss cross dress last night and could not get it to fit right on Erin. I finally gave up and went to bed so I am back at it today during naptime (I have a home daycare). I had to adjust the seams but I think I have it now. Get that done and it is on to the skirt part.

Thanks for the tips but, I have this really really thin ribbon that I wanted to trim my sailor collar with and I'm not sure what to do with it.

On mine I stiched down both edges so it would lay flat. I used 3/8" ribbon. If it was any thinner you could probably get away with just going throught the middle.

I love the coordinating outfits! Matching outfits are cute, but coordinating takes a bit more thought! :thumbsup2

Does your machine have double needle capability? If so, check the double needles against the width of your ribbon. You want the needle to be slightly narrower than the ribbon. Match your thread to your ribbon or use clear invisible thread on light colours, smokey invisible thread on dark colours. Set up your machine according to the manual and do a test run.

If using matching thread, you can wind some onto an extra bobbin and use it on the second spool pin.

Narrow to medium rickrack, use a straight stitch with matching or invisible thread down the center. The medium rickrack will curl a bit when laundered. If using wide rickrack, stitch down the center, then use invisible thread and stitch the edges with additional rows of straight stitching. This definitely will curl when it's laundered!

1) Thank you! It is simplicity 3857. It says it is easy and it was pretty easy, I had to put in a zipper and the binding around the sleeve was a little tough. Let's just say it was harder than a peasant dress, for sure!

2) I don't know what's up with that, but every time she makes me take pictures of her leaning over the rail. Also, she demands one of her toes in the water. I think she is happy Tom took down the pool fence (I am not so happy about it, obviously).

3) I remember the U.P. discussion! I think it's like the panhandle. People ask where I am from and we all call the area the panhandle and some people look like I am crazy.

4) I think Jacob might have a little crush. He asked me if he could have his own DIS account. I don't know who he wants to contact! ;)

Aw, enjoy your cuddle time and hope things return to normal soon!
