You did a great job! It is not a big leap from scapbooker to sewer. I did it too! Only problem, I love sewing and haven't scrapped in months! I need to get my pics from 06 done and 07 before we go in Dec!

You are off to a great start! I love the earring in Mickey's ear!

Thank you! Those are my vacation 2007 shirts. I'm trying to think up some new ideas for this year's trip! I made some of the animal kingdom ones for my friends kids and each one took less time and the stitching came out a lot better on them. (i also held the fabric right on my friends's shirts so the zebra stripes went vertical instead of horizontal! :lmao: ) So I'm learning! When I actually make it to the fabric store and get some new fabric and patterns...I'll let you know! Thanks again!

Thanks for your help! I am such a newbie to some of this stuff, but I would really love a ruffler.

I am pretty sure this Brother also has snap on feet. Was the ruffler you ordered the new one for the Brother machines? I have seen this one on ebay as well, it was somewhere between $20-30.

Thanks!!

I don't remember what I searched - maybe just snap on ruffler foot? I paid about $30 on ebay.

Hi again all you talented people! A few months back someone on this thread made me awesome red mickey head T's.(The ribbon across the chest one) I need a few more, but can't find the PM or name anywhere. If it was you, please PM me!
BTW- we got so many compliments on them last trip, my sister now wants them for our next one!
:thumbsup2

That was me! I sent you a PM!

I agree!!! I wanted to make my niece somethings, but she is only 7, but wears size 12. I want size 12 stuff that is age appropriate- Id love to see Carla do the easy fit pants in this size range. Or even a pair of pajamas would be great

I haven't had a chance to read through every thing so this may have already been mentioned. But I would really try to get some measurements from her.
A 12 in clothes isn't really the same as a pattern size 12. My oldest wears a 6 or 6X in clothes but for most dress patterns a 6 is way to big for her.

For your other question about wanting to make more than one size from the same pattern. I used parchment paper to trace the extra sizes onto.

Months? It's been almost a year since I've scrapbooked!

I thought this was funny. The child of the day picks a sentence (with the teacher's help) and the kids tell what letters make up the words. Megan's teacher sent her "Daily News" home with her:

This is it for today. I also made this skort for my DD yesterday also. Just wanted to share. I was getting so jealous. ;)

That is ADORABLE!

Hello again and good morning (well, almost afternoon!). I've gotten the "okay" to get a new sewing machine - it's a Mother's Day/Birthday present! :cool1: I am still thinking about getting the Singer Esteem since it is on sale - any advice on that or other machines comparable in price??? Also, if that is what I get I would really like a ruffler foot. Does anybody know which kind to get? I know there have been some other posts about this, but I can't seem to find them. Any help is greatly appreciated. I can't wait to get a new machine and sew, sew, sew!!!

On another note, I think the Disboards needs to get a new smilie that is sewing related!!!

Jess
I have the Singer Esteem from Target. I bought it last year on sale when I decided on a whim (and a prayer) to learn to sew - thanks to this board. i did not want to spend a lot of money for a hobby that might or might not have panned out very well. I have been pleased with the machine so far - it does what I need it to. I bought a snap-on ruffler foot from an ebay seller for approx $30 but I don't use it all that much.

Steph, that is just so funny!

We tried that on Leighanna's hair, and it looked cute too! Too bad I didn't get any pictures of it. We were running late for school, and pictures were the last thing on my mind.
By the time she got home, after playing outside for recess, and whatever else she does, it almost all fell out. I guess we need to use some kind of product to help it "stick".

Steph, Scrappy is slipping up, we haven't seen him in a picture in awhile, has he decided to make his audience beg for him? Have we made him a prima donna? :)

Oh, this is just too cute!!

Has anyone bought The "Belle Elysse" Tiered Dress from YCMT? I wondered how easy the instructions were to follow. And other than CarlaC's patterns are there any you recommend?
I like the patterns by Erin's designs, Belle Elysse, and sewsensible. Now for paper patterns I like Abacadabra. They have the cutest designs.
Okay, sorry for all the questions, but does anyone on here use the Brother Sewing Machine - XL3750 that they have available at Target? I am debating between that and the Singer Esteem because they are very similar in price/functions. The Brother has better reviews. I have read though that the brother machines use plastic bobbins. Is this right? Do they work well? Can you still use metal ones? And is there a ruffler foot available for it?

Thank you thank you for all your help. You all have been such an inspiration for me! When I found out I was having a girl, I got so excited to start sewing her outfits and I can't wait to plan all her customs for when we go to Disney in over 2 years!! (A little obsessed maybe!!:rolleyes1 )

Thanks!!

Jess
I use Metal bobbins in my Brother and I don't have any problems at all.

I LOVE THAT!!!:lmao: Just another example of Teddy and Megan being a match made in Heaven...last week Teddy informed his teacher that his step mom was better at being in charge than SHE was...:rotfl2: I love that I've made such and impression:rolleyes: ...that child has a sass on him something FIERCE!

I think that is awesome!!!!
But where is Scrappy?:confused3

Yes, where IS our darling Scrappy?

Oh I'm glad I saw this...what size pattern does a size 6 need? DD wears either a 5 or 6 depending on the clothes but I'll definately being making everything a size six. Little bugger has a growth spurt every August...right in time for our yearly Disney trip...means I have to go buy her all new summer clothes for Disney (at least I get them on clearance!!!)

I have a couple I put on a shirt. They wash pretty good.

That's good to know. I may have just just buy one to figure out it I can use it for what I want to use it for. Thank you very much!

I'm just imagining all the little girls going home to tell their mom's to put socks in their hair... :lmao: I sure hadn't heard of it before this board, so I'm sure some of them haven't either! Her hair is adorable btw.

That made me laugh. What her teacher must have thought!

This is her last year before she is retiring (thank goodness she waited for Megan, she was Jacob's teacher too), so she has probably seen it all. I don't know if she has seen sock curls though!

I think that is awesome!!!!

Awww, it was before school this morning so he was yapping by the door, wanting to go to the bus stop. It is favorite time of day.

:lmao:

Elisa recommended styling lotion, but to be honest, the curls are pretty much gone by the time she gets home too. She has got my hair, which is very fine and very straight.

The knee highs make tighter curls than socks, but I don't have enough for her whole head!

That's so cute! Her hair looks great, BTW!

Thanks Shannon!

LOL! Scrappy did sneak into a picture I took today, but it is a surprise for Heather and Teresa so I can't post it until I get back!

Oh, this is just too cute!!

Thanks!

:rotfl2: That had me laughing!!! I'll bet her teacher thought it was funny too.

I hope so! She loves Megan's outfits so I am sure she appreciates the sock curls too, lol.

That is so cute! I love it! And her hair looks cute too. All this talk about sock curls and I am going to get my hair permed Friday! Ya'll are a bad influence!

Good luck with the perm! We are a bad influence! :cheer2: Go, go perm!

Yes, where IS our darling Scrappy?

That Teddy is so awesome, the way he shares his knowledge! I bet he was proud to tell her, too! I hope the teacher doesn't get jealous of you.

Poor little Scrappy, I'll tell him his friends miss him!

:rotfl: :rotfl: Ok, I feel like an idiot! After all this time on the DIS, I JUST discovered he subscribed threads link. All this time I've been signing on, going down to the forum, looking for the thread, and then clicking on the check mark. Then I have to go back to where I was because if I was reading another thread when I was logged on, I would miss something here. I feel really stupid now! I can see how this is DEFINITELY going to be much more convenient!
