I am actually checking out that site now! I noticed the few outfits I really like are only in small sizes do they ahve bigger sizes like 7 or 8 girls?

If I can figure out how to post I can post a picture of an American Girl doll dress I made. I might have pictures of other dresses for AG dolls I ahve done. I have made about 4 or 5 and nightgowns:) Then of coure my son wanted a cape for his stuffed animals so i made a few capes:lmao:

I talked to my girlfriend who wants to start making stuff for our girls and we decided maybe we need to have a garage sale to finance our new habit! LOL

If you can a dress for an American Girl Doll you shouldn't have any problems making something in a size 7/8. Those little dresses are so much harder.

I've made my just turned 9 year old a few A-line tops from Youcanmakethis.com and that is a pretty easy pattern to do. I've also made her a patchwork twirl skirt-more time consuming than difficult and a few pairs of shorts using the easy fit pants pattern-I really LOVE that pattern-so easy and the results are so great! I made my younger daughter (5 1/2) a simply sweet top and I'm pretty sure that goes to size 8.

Thanks...so, Daisy is there, too? During our last trip, we never saw Daisy at all and dd was wondering where she was.
Donald, Daisy, Mickey & Goofy at the Tusker House breakfast. Daisy is really hard to find in the parks. The breakfast is nice-they don't have an omlet station but they do have a couple of quiches (is that how you spell it) and fritattas (can't spell that either) and Krispy Kreme donuts. And Mickey waffles of course. It is a nice breakfast.

HI All! This is a dress that I made Lexie this morning. I bought Minnie and Mickey fabric from Malaysia and had never used it. So today I dragged it out and cut out the Minnie and Mickey. Lexie told me what she wanted. I wanted to use some yellow, but she said no...:confused3

I can't remember if I already commented on this - so I'll just do it to be sure! LOL! It's Super cute! Love it!

OK, everyone - Fancy Nancy skirt is almost done! Need to do some embellishing on it and then make a top - hopefully later today I will have some pics!

Heather- I didn't quote you but I wanted to say we'll all be thinking of barbara today!!:goodvibes :grouphug:

I had really wanted to just use the Minnie and make a pink dot skirt to match Minnie's skirt, but in light of all of the discussions...LOL that we had last weekend, I decided since someone recently used pink dot, I decided not to. Sad huh?
It looks cute in red too!! And you made it this morning :worship: You are speed!!! (That's what my ds refers to as really fast!! :hyper: )
Can you all tell me how to put a picture or fabric onto a tshirt? I have absolutely no sewing ability at all and I want to have a cute tshirt for my DS1 to wear on our Disney trip on June 8-13. I don't know what to make but I wanted to some how create the mickey mouse head with pirate bandana and eyepatch. Also any ideas to put on a shirt would be appreciated. Thanks so much!!
On the creative designs board they have designs you can print out and Iron on. If you want to do it with fabric you can use heat n bond, Iron that to the back and put puffy paint/Fabric paint in the little squeezy bottles to go around all the edges to seal it. If your going to do the fabric trace your pattern on the paper side of the heat n bond after you've ironed it on to the fabric then cut out the shape- It is much easier that way!! You can get heat n bond in the sewing area of walmart and by the interfacing at joanns. Hope that helps!!!

Oh I am dying to see fancy nancy- We checked out the books from the library (after hearing about her from you all). dd (and ds too) really like her, she is so fancy and cute!!! Kinda spunky and sassy like my dd :butterfly
yep can't wait to see it- popcorn::

Oh...and I'm hoping to know if I'm pregnant or not by the time I get back from my trip.....:rolleyes1

Hope you get the results you are looking for!

GOOD MORNING LASSIES!!!

I will NEVER apologize for being a neurotic over-planner again:rotfl2: J/K. Well, no, it does make me feel a little better...I wish you the best of luck w/ your rain coat, it is a great idea. We go in Oct. and usually the traditional summer storms are over but we can still get belts of rain from tropical storm systems, and even though I preach to EVERYONE to be prepared for ANY and all kinds of weather most times of the year in FL. I still ended up at Epcot in the pouring rain completely unprepared last year so I think the rain coat is a super idea!:thumbsup2 The bonus was the park was COMPLETELY empty and we walked on to almost all the rides we went on (except Soarin', don'tcha know.)
Also good luck w/ the remainder of your pregnancy I had 2 summer babies (in FL)and am hoping to avoid being at the end of my pregnancy in the summer EVER again. For one thing to spread out the freakin' birthdays!! My mom had summer babies (june 11 and Aug 20) My sister had summer babies (July 23 and Aug 28) and mine are June 20 and July 19 So just between me and my sister and our kids we pretty well have june-aug. covered:laughing:

Thank you to everyone who has congratulated me or cheered me on about the boutique offer. I am still uber nervous and change my mind almost by the minute. I have to order fabric and there are a few things I need to do, like optimize my ruffler foot, while I'm waiting for the fabric to arrive. But I suppose if I invest in the fabric and notions that I'll have to go through w/ it. And I'll need to figure out the serger. please, let that be easy.

HI ANNA!!! I haven't missed you at all.:rolleyes1
Glad you got some stuff done. I know we have a to do list a mile long. Most of the stuff we can't do b/c we are in the middle of an insurance claim w/ the house (we have a sinkhole) and we aren't allowed to repair anything until it's over which will be like in AUGUST:scared1: I am having a 5oth b-day party for my dad at the end of Sept. and I am really nervous about hosting 60 people at my house and on top of it I can't work on the house. So, I guess I'd better get Littles outfits done up before then so I can work on the house every day in that last month.:cutie:

SINCE I have been itching to sew and can't start on my togs I suppose I will put aside the YARDS of fabric I have plans for and get my BIG GIVE!!!outfit done. I'm terribly competitive and hate to be out shined and Jeanne and Angela have set the bar quite high.:worship: And I still need to learn how to make a decent bow:worried:

Good luck Tiffani with the new clothing venture and figuring out the serger!

My model is at school, but here is the Minnie colored criss cross top:

I love the top! I think I may eventually (I am so slow so there is a chance that eventually may never come :rotfl2: ) CASE that shirt if you don't mind! I am trying to come up with outfits for our upcoming (unless I chicken out and cancel it after #3 arrives in July) trip so the girls won't be too hot. That one looks nice and cool!

Teresa and Heather - I hope Barbara is doing well and that maybe the surgery will be over soon. How long is insurance letting her stay in the hospital? Since the government won't cover overnight stays for mastectomies (how crazy is that - proof that we need more women in politics and the government) some insurance companies won't either. I had a friend who had a double mastectomy in February and needed 3 nights in the hospital. Thankfully her insurance paid for it. I know it is a rough recovery and she'll need lots of help initially, she is lucky to have you guys!

SAHM1000~ I have seen so many versions of this top I don't know who originally came up with it. ;)

Need more Peasant Top help! Have you found that the elastic measurements given are too much? I have it fed thru for the neckline and around the arms and it does not look tight enough. Of course I know I will have to wait on Erin to get home to try it on. Here is what it looks like so far:

I have a quick question. Does anyone know how much to add to a size 4 pattern to make it into a size 5 (kids sizes)? My MIL bought me fabric and a pattern to make DD a dress for her birthday. I know she spent a lot on it. They only make the pattern up to a size 4 and DD is a 5 now. Help?? Thanks :)

Hi I do a lot of window shopping (I just hate the term lurking) on this board and when I saw a question I can help with I wanted to respond.

Check out the scrapbooking section of your favorite arts and crafts store for

Buttons (great mickey head buttons in the scrapbook area)
Character Bottle Caps

Other items
Recycled Gymboree hair clips. I love my gymbo clips so sometimes I take off the cat, strawberry or whatever is on it and repurpose it.
Jibbitz (those croc things) you slice of the back part that goes in the shoe and hot glue it
Cell phone charms
Shoe charms
The Mcdonalds princess toys (yes some of embellishments make for great hair center pieces in bows)

Disney Foamez Key chains and other craft items (sometimes they had round charms that work well)
Single Polymer beads and buttons from :wizard: but I only do that if its a very special outfit because I love the beads so much

Basically if its not nailed down and in some cases if its nailed down I still might see if it work.

I'll go back to browsing but I LOVE all of your creations, it makes me want to take a class to see if I still have two left hands. Havent sewed since I made a toga for a toga party :rotfl2: Yes I really did

Wow! These are great ideas! Now I just wish that I could make a decent bow to start out with! Somehow I just end up with hot glue all over my fingers!

I agree with the term lurking (makes me think of Lurk from the Addams Family). Window shopping is much better!

Do you sleep? You did it this morning! Wow I am so impressed :worship:

At the end of the day do what makes you happy as far as the fabrics go. I totally understand about worrying about what others think but the more I think about it, how original are any of our ideas? We all use the same YCMT patterns, Minnie always has red and white polka dots with black and yellow accents, Cinderella's dress is pink or blue (depending on which one you copy), Donald Duck wears a blue sailor outfit, etc. The past weekend's discussion/argument does make me worry about posting pictures since I will worry about making someone mad. Your dress is beautiful though!

I usually look at the other markings like the difference between the size 3 and 4. and that's how I tell how much to add to the pattern. So if there is a half inch difference between the size 3 and size 4 markings on the pattern, just cut the fabric that much larger than the size 4. Clear as mud..right..LOL

Check and see how much difference there is between the 3 & 4. If is is less than a 1/4" then you could sew the size 4 with a 1/4"seam instead of the usual 5/8" that store bought patterns call for and it should be closer to a 5.

Sad yes, but I bet it's true. I am glad Lexie overruled you anyway, it's awfully cute. She clearly has learned a thing or two from you!

As far as transfers for t-shirts go I think that you should probably check out the Creative Community board (scroll down very far!) I'm sure someone here can tell you how to do it but I know they have lots of designs and tips for iron ons there. HTH!

Good Afternoon ladies and gent! I have fun news....Yesterday on our daily Wal-Mart trip they were clearancing out furniture desks, shelves, end tables stuff like that....So lovely boyfriend decides he might want a new desk for his office/ my sewing room...So that would work out great for me as his old desk would be perfect for sewing it is an "L" shape desk....So we get new desk and I WAS going to get the leftovers. We get it home and the new desk is to short for him he's 6'9. Yeah tall!

So I get new desk!!! It is great..not going to be able to cut much fabric on it but I have a table for that anyway. So I get my little area set up and this morning I felt like sewing...so I did.....

I made a crayon Roll....a chalk mat.....1st attempt at crayon roll...and made one minor mistake but easily remedied on my next one.

And I would love to show you all what, I made except I have no idea where the usb cable is...heck, I don't even know what it looks like...But I will work on that today so I can show off my creations and my new sewing area...Which thank the good guy above is not a folding plastic table anymore!

We're not entirely sure about the whole insurance situation. But, they are planning on keeping her in the hospital until tomorrow. We do know she cam through surgery well and she's in recovery right now. The mass in her breast was big, but that wasn't a surprise. They are still thinking it's stage 0 cancer, so that's good.

I usually shorten the neck elastic a little bit, just because I like it to fit higher up near her neck.

I have found that I like the neck a bit tighter than the suggested measurements. I usually shorten by 2-4 inches. It looks great though.

I thought the same thing on the first one I made until I tried it on DD. Then it looked right. It wasn't really tight, but I liked the look of it.

I have the safety pins in place so I will try it on when she gets home. I just pressed the hem and it is ready to go now too. That was a quick top to make! I have one more to do in the blue Pooh Toile.

don't know how I missed this, Amy, it's GREAT!! I was unsure about using this fabric instead of the red one, but I LOVE it!! Wow, I am looking forward to making Little's jumper out of this too. You did an amazing job so far, can't wait to see it finished!
