Disboutiquers Part 5 Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes psst..we sew

I love the crayon cozy! I might have to make a couple before we leave for Disney in a few weeks.

Delaney decided I didn't have enough to do today, she managed to find a hidden pair of scissors and she chopped her hair. I had no idea she's done it, she came over to me and I noticed her hair was messy, I ran my fingers through it and came away with a handful of hair, she had cut several layers into her hair. I ended up taking her to a hair dresser to see what could be done about it. There is a layer that's only a couple of inches from her scalp right on the side of her head, should be interesting to see what they do with her at the BBB on her birthday, it's not going to grow enough between there and now to be able to be pulled back.

I've got to get back to making dinner for tonight and get back to cleaning, Delaney's trip to the salon put me behind schedule but I'll see if I can catch up.

I don't think it is fading and has been washed twice. It hasn't bled that I can tell. I just made these on the cheap to fit more like shirts than dresses. They aren't a pillowcase pattern, the neckline lays flat and the ties are the same fabric as the top and bottom portions. I think all four dresses cost less than $25 to make. They will probably only wear them once. Twice if we do laundy while we're there. They ended up fitting perfectly so no double duty for 2009. We will only be in disney a week so I figure 3 sewn outfits will be good for us.

I'm not really creative but know I am running out of time to do these cute things. DD5 already refuses to wear a bow most days.

Monica
I also used this Mickey Mouse fabric and have fad no problems with fading or colors running. Lauren wears this dress at least once a week.

Help!! On the last thread, someone posted a link to a store selling fabric with planes on. I'd bookmarked the store as there were loads of fabrics I liked the look of. DH has rebooted the computer this morning and lost all my bookmarks :headache: . I've scanned thru the last thread but have no idea when or where it was.

Can anyone else remember which shop it was? I thoughted I'd replied to the post but can't even find that now when I look!!

I think DH and his credit card are working in cahoots against me!!!!

I think I had posted that. I went back through my favorites and can't find it. I thought it was craftconn.com. Then I tried to look at my old messages. But I'll see what I can find out becuase I like that one to.

Hello! Here are the DD's this morning before school in their new outfits! :goodvibes They were munching on their Barbie waffles too :rotfl:

Do you clip the armholes seams when you use a serger? They seem to lay down well but I am not sure what it will do after I wash it.

Jenna has done this three times. One time she had hair half way down her back and she cut a huge peice of hair at the back of her head all the way up to her shoulders. I found this out as I was fixing her hair for school. I just put it in a ponytail and told her I would fix it after school. The other two times were just little snips that nobody would notice. She is no longer allowed to have scissors unsupervised. Not even the kid ones.

Hello friends,

I haven't had a chance to catch up. Work and life have been really busy. I have made a few things that I wanted to share with you.

This was my inspiration for an outfit for my DD10 (Thanks again for whoever posted it for me, sorry I forgot who it was...)
th_Inspirationpic.png

DD thought it was a little over the top for her age so I had to scale it down some. Since she can not wear tank tops to school, I made this type of top:

Next, I made this top for her:

Tie closure

Ribbon trim

I cut off a pair of jeans and added ruffles and ribbon to match both tops. I was way too lazy to do the buttonholes for the ribbon because I have a 5-step buttonholer. Sorry, first picture is a little blurry...
DSC05589.jpg

I made a scrunchie too:

Ruffle/ribbon detail:

With original shirt also:

Thanks for letting me share with you!

Question - has anyone added a ruffle detail to denim shorts instead of capris?
Could you post a picture for inspiration?

Thank you everyone!

I love all of the fabrics. I have so much of it right now. After I get done sewing for our trip I plan on starting Jenna's summer wardrobe which is when I will use up my seersucker? fabric.

Love it all! GReat embellishments on the capris. I love capris. I haven't tried the ruffle on the shorts, but I have seen it. A ruffle on anything is cute!

Very cute!

hmmm...you just gave me an idea. My favorite jeans just wore out in the leg...I could use a new skirt...do you think 38 (or 29 as the case may be *ahem*) is too old for a skirt like this?

No way would 29 ;) be too old for a skirt like that!!

Goodness. this is what I get for not being around. Ok so life is getting a little smoother. I now have some weekends off. not all, but at least the ones I work are when Georgia is on visits to her grandma's. I am getting ready to cut some elvis fabric to make a skirt and shirt for Georgia for her last day of school next month! I can't believe how fast time flies.

Hope everyone is doing well. Off to look at the rest of the post.

This is my week, in a nutshell...hope you all get a kick out of it...
First it started with Ireland losing a tooth, that wasn't really loose..
IrelandandLexieChristmas20072113.jpg

This prompted a huge Gala in the honor of the missing tooth in the form of a Webkinz tea party, thrown by Lexie...
IrelandandLexieChristmas20072111.jpg

Well...since it was an impromtu tea party, our two uninvited guests didn't have time to dress...( and yes, there are two, and they were on my screened in patio..making  baby snakes..eeek
IrelandandLexieChristmas20072108.jpg

Well Evil Pirate Lexie, decided since the snakes were underdressed, she needed to scare them away in her new pirate night outfit...(ignore the yellow ribbon, I didn't get the black one put it yet..LOL)
IrelandandLexieChristmas20072118.jpg

Well our cat Abbey was so excited over the snakes coming for a visit, she decided to get into my sewing cabinet and redecorate the kitchen..
IrelandandLexieChristmas20072122.jpg

IrelandandLexieChristmas20072125.jpg

So I decided to run away from the madness and head back to the Disney cruise where I ran into the sexiest..I mean the most efficient waiter in town...Gane'.....hey Mom get your head out of the picture...you're ruining my fantasy...LOL

Can you tell me what pattern that halter top is? This is the second one I've seen here on the dis and I just love it.

Thanks so much!!!! The halter top and skirt pattern was Daisy Kingdom 2994 and the swing top and capri were See and Sew B5009! The fabric was from Walmart...seersucker...its so cheerful! About 15 minutes after this pic, the fog and wind blew in and the temp dropped until midday. :confused3 When is it going to be warm??????

Yes I had lots and bought more!!! I love it cause its cotton but its not flimsy or see-thru!!!! And it doesn't seem too wrinkled either  :cool1:

Thanks so much! ;)
