email her if you want something for a specific outfit- she's terrific

Hey Laura- are you out there reading this????? I think I should get a discount or somethin if all these lovely ladies order from you. LOL!!!

PS. Currently watching Mary Poppins to set the mood for sewing!
Dont you think the should do a Mary Poppins dark ride!? I can see it now!
If I can find my DVD of Nemo, thats up next
Does anyone else pull out their collection to prepare for their trip?

I too am sitting here reading the Portrait Peasant pattern!!!
I have been watching more of the Disney movies here lately. I watched Finding Nemo the other night when it came on the Disney Channel. I also plan on watching Return to Neverland when it comes back on.

I do nto have the pattern but here is what i think:

You cut the bodice on the fold. You need to cut 2 so you have a front and a back

As for the skirt. I am going to take a leap and say you cut 2 of them. One for the front and one for the back.

Since I do not have the pattern I can not really help you but I do make peasant dresses and this is how I make them
This is correct and it makes sense.

Have any of you ever made any nursing tops or dresses? Wanting to make a dress to wear to MNSSHP for myself but it needs to be very easy as I have never sewed before. Both DD's will be dressed as Princess in store bought outfits.

I think Simplicity has some patterns for nursing tops. I'm not sure though as I haven't made any.

So many breath taking outfits!!! I suffer every time that I see those gorgeous outfits for the girls... the only thing that I can do for my boys are shorts and pants other than that, there is not a lot for boys:mad:

I am trying to do the futon covers for my furniture but I do not find the extra long zippers that I need to made them custom fit, any ideas on where to order them or what else can I do instead of zipper
How about button down shirts for the boys?

I've never done any kind of slip cover but how about just an overlapping fold in the back like you might use on a pillow sham?:confused3

Okay, here is me and my SIL acting the part of peter pan and cpt hook
More great photos!:thumbsup2

Help...I purchased the peasant dress on the YCMT.com site. As I was reading the cutting section it seems that the bodice is cut twice on not on the fold, but the pattern is for half of a bodice and says cut two on fold. So which is it? Also, is the skirt size (that is twice the bottom of the bodice) just one piece or do I need 2 pieces?

Did you buy the portrait peasant top pattern? If so, it says to cut 2 bodices on the fold and one skirt piece. If you want the skirt to be really full, you could cut 2 pieces, but the instructions she gives is for 1 piece.

I love that picture of you and your SIL! :rotfl2: Your AK shirt looks fabulous! The Minnie dot crew is so cute! I wish you would have posted SIL's minnie dot shirt sooner! I would have tried making one of those for myself!

Thank you! This is what I thought. I am so used to cutting 2 skirt pieces but after reading the directions is seems to be one piece. I think on the layout she shows the whole bodice, but I guess that is to show how much fabric you will really need! I just used a rotary cutter to cut! Woo hoo!

Thanks for posting that. I always cut the fabric, inserted the ruffle and re-sewed it all. Thanks it's a huge help...and much easier.

I was thinking the same thing! Cut it all into strips, sew on the ruffles, sew it all back together. This ought to be very helpful!

wanted to say hi! I was obsessive with this thread last year when we were planning our last trip. After Mark got home, he deployed and fell off teh earth basically until I recently got put on medication. I am looking to you all for some inspiration. We are planning a surprise trip for DD when Mark gets home. Now how am I supposed to make these beautiful creations and not try them on her? It is gonna kill me!

Well, apart from the e-bay gambit, what about making trial runs out of "everyday" fabric so she can wear it "everyday"? Call it research--or fitting the pattern! *LOL*

Tinka Bell: last year my shunt was over draining and I was also told to drink caffeinated beverages and a lot of water, but was given a special belt to wear around the waist area to slow down the fluids, it is similar to the maternity one that they give you in the hospital, it did help me with the headaches,

As you can see right now I have them without the covers and I need to start working on that soon....Maybe I should just give up and spend the 400.00 / 500.00 on new ones...Ideas please???....

Are there any upholstery stores in your area? Did you search for upholstery zippers on the internet?

Beyond that, I like the buttons idea. Futons are casual by nature, so having coordinating buttons would be nice. You could make a placket to cover them, if you prefer.

Here is the latest! I started this like 2 months ago, and just got around to finishing it. I feel like that happens a lot around here:lmao:

I have no action shots because Zoe immediately spilled chocolate milk on it after she put it on for the first time.

I love all the new stuff I have been seeing. I noticed Heathersue and Theresajoy are on a roll! I can see why! 7 days! I am so jealous.
I think our trip is being moved back until January. We have has a lot going on, and it may have to wait:(

On another note, tomorrow is Nathan's 3rd Birthday, and we are having a Cars party for him next weekend. I want to make the favors ( I'm trying to stay away from the bag O junk ). I was going to make the chalk rollups, but I don't think I'll have time now. Can anyone suggest anything cool to make for the party?
I just bought this fabric on clearance for our upcoming cruise. Is it too "girly" for boys? I would like my kids to match. Anyone have any other cruise custom ideas?

I just had to share Olivia's New Ears that came in the mail today! She is so excited and will NOT take them out of her hair!
