Thanks for the vote of confidence stephres!

You guys have made some amazing creations! I love them all! Way too may to quote.... but A++++++ to all of them! :thumbsup2

I just have to say that I am growing more obsessed with this thread each day!

Since I have started reading this- within the last 2 weeks- I have purchased over 25 yards of fabric and many patterns off the you can make this site which I didn't even know existed until I read this thread!

I KNOW! A bunch of enablers these folks are.... and I love it.

I'm so very sorry my fellow Dis-sew-ers. My GOOFY material came from my long time stash...

oh sad story... I'm heartbroken. :(

I finally sat myself down and made myself finish Jenna's Farbenmix pattern. I forgot to add the seam allowance when cutting out the fabric peices, but I guess I copied the wrong size because it fits her just fine. :confused3 The only problem that I had was when I finished the back. The back side peices did not overlap so I couldn't do any buttons or snaps. Well I think it worked out anyways. I added some eyelets and used a ribbon to lace up the back.

Here are the pics.
This is the back.

So, I have been obsessed with what the kids will wear since finding this thread. We will be there for 5 full days and a partial day. here is what the kiddos will wear:

arrival day:

IMG_1181.jpg

I am not really happy with the embroidery (although it came with the machine!!). I might do it over.

Day 1- Magic Kindgom day, Crystal Palace breakfast and PPP

IMG_1183.jpg

IMG_1184.jpg

I made costumes for the boys to wear to the party, but I know it won't last long. Here are the shorts that they will wear when they take off the costumes (I am making the shirt this weekend- pirate mickey head)
IMG_1196.jpg

this is the same fabric that cute little Lily was modeling. I didn't realize that the eyes were hearts until I was sewing it. Oh well, I just hope the boys don't notice!!

Day 2- animal kingdom and DTD
I am having shirts made by a friend and they haven't arrived yet. Cooper has an elephant and Jackson has dinosaurs on his shirt.
For DTD-

Here is where the crazy starts (well, it might have been earlier, but now it is full-on crazy!). Jackson and Cooper want Mike outfits. So, I plan to applique (thanks for the awesome tutorial HS!) a mike onto a white shirt. I couldn't figure out what to do for pants. . .So, I made this fabric. I know that some of the seams don't like up, but I like it. It looks at least as good as the patchwork shorts I got from old navy earlier.

Thanks for uploading all the pics. Now I have 4 different einstein outfits to choose from. Sara beth wants them all and then some! Well, going to try to make some capris....never did that before!

Sohappy!!!!! I love all the outfits. We do not get as many boy clothes around here and they are fantastic!!! What embrodiary machine do you have? Your outfits are the first that have made me want one! LOL

Also . . .

I updated my trippie. There are the girls Ohano's outfits, animal kingdom and an interesting argyle outfit. :)

Thanks guys!

I have the Disney brother one (cheapo from wal-mart). I wish I had a larger area, but it has worked very well for me so far.

I have one outfit left. I have no idea what to do. We are going to MK, DTD and will eat at CRT. I thought about smocking a shortalls outfit for Cooper- maybe try a Captain Hook, Croc, Peter and a tiny tink. That would be boyish, right? No idea for Jackson. I would love to CASE Heather's peter pan outfit in some way, but, ummm, yeah, not that talented!

I have a question about birthday parties...do the kids usually open the gifts at the parties your kids go to? Around here, it is customary to wait until everyone has left, and then to write thank you notes after the party....I like it, because there's no competiton about who gave what, and no embarrasment over "doubles".

Over here, kids usually open all their present at the end of the party. All the kids will gather around the gifts and birthday girl/boy while she/he opens the gifts.

These outfits are darling! Good job!

I have a Build a Bear question for anyone who has done Build a Bear parties!

Did your birthday boy or girl get to go above and beyond the "fixed" amount the party? Meaning, the "guest of honor" has a bear with an entire outfit including shoes and accessories while the other party guests have bare footed bears with maybe a t-shirt and a pair of shorts? Each guest will have $25 to spend, and I'm of the opinion that $25 is more than enough for Sally and Teddy to have nice bears with a cute outfit without having to go lavishly over board. Especially since they'll have had a ton of other gifts from family.

I guess I'm a little uncomfortable with the "Look what I got and YOU didn't" concept. It bugs me. It could be a childhood thing...our mom didn't let us win game prizes at our own birthday parties. We could play the games, but if we "won" the second place person got the prize instead...it was our birthday after all and we were getting gifts from everyone already.

Any thoughts? I want the kids to have a great day, but I also want them to get the concept of being satisfied with what they've got and not needing "MORE", birthday or not.

Could be that wicked step mother thing.

:goodvibes

I personally would let the birthday girl (in my case) go over on money. Afterall, it's their party. But all the siblings and/or friends would have to stick in budget. As far as party bags, I would not expect one if my child came home with a BAB. Mostly with prizes (addition to party bags) i do some games and if you win, you pick a wrapped prize out of the basket. You can open it and keep it. Then if you win again you can choose to put back your first prize and pick another or keep your prize that you got the first time and we let the 2nd place winner choose. When everyone has a prize then we can start winning 2nd prizes. Because I spend so much on party bags and prizes 2 is the max I give out. Then what ever is left I put in my reward box for my girls throgh the year. Then when we get to the end of the party and there are open gifts in the prize basket those winners now will have to pick from the opened prizes. Before the party is completly over I hand out party bags and tell everyone that they can "trade" prizes with anyone and not to feel bad because I will not be sad if they don't want/like their prize they received.

I lvoe to do cabbage rolls at parties. I take a prize wrap it and put a sticky note on it with a question (like middle name, favorite food, bedroom theme, worst subject, favorite subject, color of backpack......)and then make a second layer and put on a post it note with another question about the birthday child. I wrap each gift between 3 and 7 times with questions for each "layer". Have the kids sit in a circle and like hot potato pass the prize around. If the person holding the gift gets the question correct they can carefully unwrap that layer. If there is another layer they pass. If they see a prize, they keep the prize. My girls are 7 and 8, and the kids love it. They love to learn about their frind (birthday girl) and some know and some don't know the answers. Some guess like what size shoe, what time born, name of babydoll. But all the kids there are friends, or would not be invited to the party so they will know SOMETHING on the sticky notes. I also learn a lot of my Daughters when I ask her the answers to all the silly questions. Its fun

I love how that turned out! Is that the Weeke pattern? The Farbenmix patterns that I ordered got lost in the mail, and it has been over a week and I am still waiting for it. The seller is trying to get USPS to track the package down!

I made this Enchanted top (not a dress) for a fellow Diser. She wanted a top instead of a dress so her daughter could wear it over leggins. I thought that was a pretty clever idea! I made up the pattern for this one too.

Dude.....:faint:

Those are awesome. Where did you get the Nemo designs?? Are they on the new cards? (I might have to get a new reader/writer....:scratchin: )

I am askeered of making a camp shirt for Spencer, adn I have a really easy see and sew pattern from the 80's....no time this trip, but maybe after we get back. I just STINK at collars!

Birthday parties- sometimes we open presents there, sometimes not. Cooper's birthday is coming up. I think that we might not open presents to save time! I also like it for the reasons OP mentioned, no issues over duplicates, and no chance of a 3 year old saying "we already have this". I haven't perfected my eyebrow arch yet (although I did practice in the mirror this weekend!!).

We always open present at parties. I try to make sure my girls know who gave them each gift (or at least make I know so I can tell them later), but it's hard when all the kids are trying to help open things. Last year we had 2 kid chairs set out & each guest sat next to the birthday girl while their gift was opened. It worked out pretty well. Everyone got to help open 1 gift & the birthday girl knew who gave it to her.

I finally sat myself down and made myself finish Jenna's Farbenmix pattern. I forgot to add the seam allowance when cutting out the fabric peices, but I guess I copied the wrong size because it fits her just fine. :confused3 The only problem that I had was when I finished the back. WOW!! You have done an excellent job on EVERYTHING! You have been busy, and I LOVE those patchwork shorts! Your boys are sooo cute!

Also wanted to add that I LOVE the Giselle top TERESA! Great job! You have some skills girl!

Ok, I got about half of the pics for the shorts done, then my battery died, so I'll post what I have. I finished those shorts, but if people need more pics, I will show them on the next pair....

The rectangles with the "j" cut out:

DSCN0852.jpg

The J's are sewn together, and the seams finished (I double finished this one so ti would show):

DSCN0855.jpg

Then the legs are sewn together:

DSCN0856.jpg

I then serge all of the raw edges....you could turn them over once or zig zag if you don't have a serger.

DSCN0857.jpg

Ok, this is where I ran out of battery, but all that is left is hemming the legs, and folding over the waistband, then adding elastic.

I Did take a pic of my FAVORITE tool for feeding drawstrings and/or elastic:

DSCN0860.jpg

The safety pins are to attach the tool tot he elastic, since it doesn't feed through the "eye".

I hope these pics help!! I have to get back to my sewing!!

ETA: Oh!! the way I remember that the curvy part is the crotch, is the CURVE has to go over a tushie (which is curvy). That way I sew the correct parts together.

Awww, you guys are making me feel so special!! I almost didn't post because they are boy clothes and not as cute as a lot of the girl things! I NEED to find a girl around here to sew for!! I have tried to talk a few friends into LETTING me make something for their kid, but no luck. UGH.

Anyway, the applique designs are from the site that must not be named. I ALWAYS get them from one great designer- PM me if you want her name. She has been AMAZING to work with. She has some really, really cute stuff too.
