HI. BIG QUESTION: where do y'all get the pictures for the appliques?
I bought a couple of coloring books today and was wondering if those pics would be about the right size?
Also wondering if you can get clip art from the computer and resize it with photo editing. If you do this, what is the proper size?
Sorry for all of the questions, I figured this is the home of the experts and you would know the answers. Thank-you!
Try this link. It is full of coloring book pages. I usually find one that I want and copy it into Word and enlarge it to the size I want. If there is something specific on the page that I want I crop it in Photo paint, then copy to Word and print it out in the size that I need it. http://www.coloring-book.info/coloring/

You should sell them. Before Jenna turned two she went to a daycare that requested a nap pad that had a blanket and a pillow attached to the mat. The daycare actually gave me the name and information for a lady who was making them and said that she was the only person they knew of where I could one like that. Little did they know that I also sew and just converted a baby comforter, baby pillow and regular nap mat into what they were requesting.
I think she was selling them for about $50.

$50! Holy smokes! You are a smart cookie. The little cheap rest mats they had us buy at the beginning of the year were cheap, but obviously not durable.

Okay, so I'm pretty new to the whole custom clothing thing but I did want to share with you my quilt that I made for my DH for Christmas a couple of years ago.
I came up with the design and appliques. This was my first quilt ever.
I've done several other Disney appliques but they were for friends and I don't have photos to share.
We are going to Disneyland in December and I'm starting to plan out my projects for our kids. You all do so many beautiful things!

This just beautiful! I love it!
3) Is it bad that I'm trying to talk Ella into this birthday party
girliepirateparty.jpg

because I have this fabric?
girliepiratefabric.jpg

I think I may have her *kinda* talked into it, but she's not fully convinced yet. She'll come around. I hope.

Hope everyone's having a great Monday!

I love that fabric!!! Good luck talking her into it!

Love all the stuff posted so far .. i had another dentist appointment on Fri (One of the many Ones ) so i have been sleeping mostly and slightly taking advantage of some much needed me time  but yesterday i needed no pain assistance:thumbsup2 so i sewed My Camden ;) a button up shirt and a pair of shorts:rolleyes1 he was so excited:banana:   That i finally got them finished (he picked the fabric out in March)
So here it is
DSCF1625_edited-1-1.jpg

I also found this pattern a Gazillion times easier and everything matched up perfectly ... Easy McCalls #3193:goodvibes

I love seeing things for boys! I will have to check out that pattern...

I thought I'd post what i did/finished today and one thing I never posted:

Getting there. 8 more sewing days....7 more outfits.....

ETA: the legs on the tigger shorts are the same length....i just pulled them out to double check. They were laying funny.

These are all adorable! You've been busy!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I made those shorts before the sale, actually. Just had to finish the embroidery today. Fixed adn finished the pink dress and did the whole nemo outfit. I am also half way done with a Zurg outfit (my son hasd some....interesting requests).

I stack-and-whacked the fabric for 5 different pair of shorts for Spencer....so I just have to sew them together. The embroidery takes the longer time.....well and the dresses for Brianna.

Oh, and anyone who's interested, I got most of the embroideries from Brother cards and converted them with software. :thumbsup2

So, does your software read the Disney cards? I have a non-disney brother machine (babylock actually), so it doesn't read the Disney cards, but I never thought about the software reading it. That would be great!

Hey everyone! Haven't posted in a while, but have been lurking and trying to keep up! I have absolutely loved everything posted! HeatherSue - that peter pan top will most definitely be CASED! Castle's Minnie Sailor, the quilt! Seriously. You guys are putting me to shame. I come here, see all of your latest and greatest creations, get all inspired, go to sew something, then
-whoosh!- all my inspiration is gone, then I just end up making the same old thing, just with different fabric. Ack! I have all these ideas in my head, I just can't always seem to execute them. Whew! glad I got that out!

OK, couple of things -

1) Just so all of your kids know, Ella had decided she is friends with every child on this thread. Anytime she sees a picture of someone, she'll say she likes him or her and they are her friend. Then she won't let me scroll past, she'll just gaze admiringly at her new friend. What a crack-up!

2) This is old news by now, but here is what she ended up with for the Princess on Ice show. The show was so much fun!

I have that skull fabric but not the coordinates. Where'd you find those? They are great! Maybe that would inspire me to use the skulls that I have had for 6 mos.

Well at that time it was just me and Jenna so money was tight. So buying one wasn't an option. I think my aunt gave me one of the mats that her children used when they were younger, I made a case for it like a pillowcase with a sleeping bag attached to it and attached the little pillow to it. It was the same as the other kids had and it didn't cost me near as much.

Whew! I think I finally made it through to the end! I was busy sewing this weekend and got very behind! Anyway, just wanted to share some pics...

First, a total CASE for a little girl's birthday party next weekend (she's having a LM theme)
mermaiddis.jpg
mermaidback.jpg

Then the bribes for my kids being good at the fabric store on Friday - new pjs from flannel they picked out. (the nightgown was my first circle skirt done without a pattern!:cool1: - the bodice is a lengthened portrait peasant)
pjpants.jpg

pjs.jpg

Then a birthday gift for an adult friend who has two boys that love pirates. (it says Pirate Princess - kinda hard to see)
pirateprincess.jpg

And an earth day shirt for me!

And finally some wine bags I forgot to share (they are for a wine tasting party, so the wine is supposed to be a mystery)

Thanks for all the encouragement for the portrait peasant dress pattern. I took the plunge and am finishing 2 dresses for DD6 and DD4. They are SEW easy! It's the first time I've used a pattern and the first time I did sleeves. They are almost finished. I'll take pics when the girls try them on. Probably a few days yet.

I skimmed thru the last gazillion pages and saw lots of cute stuff. Oh, I also checked out that Super Nanny segment on You Tube. ;) I don't usually watch Super Nanny, but do remember catching that episode.

Love all the petti's. And that Mickey quilt is gorgeous! :worship:

bclydia - WOW! That quilt is fantastic!

MrsBanks - Another wow! Love the Peter Pan outfit.

glorib - that princess on Ice outfit is ADORABLE. Love it! I want to know where you got the coordinating fabric too!

camelotcats - cute cute cute! I almost bought that Tigger fabric today at Hancocks.. I may have to go back out to get some.... :rolleyes1

mickeyjen - that Ariel shirt is adorable! I may have to those wine bottle holders/covers... now if only I liked wine...

I'm so excited... I got the fusible web and interfacing to try the "she loves me, she loves me knot" bag. I loved all the ones I saw on here so decided I was going to try it for my sister's birthday. It'll be the first non-quilt item I've ever sewed. :scared:

I went to Walmart today and they had a ton of dots today!!!!! LOTS AND LOTS OF DOTS!!!!!!!! all colors, purple, blue, pink, red, green and yellow!

Thank you! I am headed up to Baltimore in a few days and I am going to check out the WM there that I know has those good fabrics. :) Last time I went they had all kinds of Disney fabric - I was in heaven! lol

For those of you that said a prayer for my FIL, thank you! He came through surgery ok, and now in ICU. Hopefully he will be well enough to go into his own room tomorrow. The doctor was hopeful that he got all the cancer, but we will know for sure on Wednesday. It is nice to know I have friends in mickey-cyberland! LOL!

All of the new customs are so cute, I haven't had a chance to create much new stuff in the last few weeks, but I will take a lot of pics on my trip!

LOVE this fabric! I finally found the blue at Joann's yesterday for $5/yard. What a great deal you got! Kind of wish I would have found this first :)

:welcome:!! I was 5 months pregnant the last time I went to Disney. I hadn't started sewing yet. So, I went to the Disign board and had someone make a design with my name on it, surrounded by Disney characters. Then, I ironed it onto a maternity shirt. I also added, on my belly "Coming June 2006, Sawyer". Here's a picture:
th_2-2-06MeTessaandMomtreeoflife.jpg

My mom and Tessa also had shirts with their names on them.
I was about four months along when ds took his first trip to FL. This one was cuter then some of the disney ones-

I was just thinking about this today. Does this actually work to keep the barrette in your DD's hair? Is it hard to get in her hair?

I need to post a picture of the dress that I made for Jenna using some of the fabric that you sent me. I did a t-shirt dress with the fishy fabric. It came out so cute and Jenna loves it.

It does work- when she leaves it alone!!  I haven't had any bows fall out. dd's hair is still pretty fine and slippery. It just keeps getting longer- not thicker! Well at least so far!
Yay- I'm so glad you could use the fabric!! Can't wait to see pics!! :goodvibes

Wow! I have been on the puter too much this last week. I did start sewing last night. Made a boo boo. Attached the entire skirt part of the dress to the bodice instead of just the front of it. Love that seam ripper. I did gather it right! This is the first thing I am making totally on my own since I made a dress for my daughter 10 years ago! going to dm's today for a little help and encouragement.
