Quick question for you mamas ordering fabric on :wizard: from Asia. About how long is it taking for you to see your purchases? I'm being naughty and surfing for fabric for a skirt.

Shh... don't tell my DH but I just got a pair of patterns from YCMT. I still have one more to get but I'll do that next week. :thumbsup2

Hey ladies... I have been on before. I lurk constantly...our trip is coming up and I wanted to show you what I made so far:)

I am a total beginner. Here are outfits for pirate and princess party "if" we go...I might make a skirt for myself...I also made bandanas for the whole family and my dh will also have a red/white striped belt. He doesn't really want to dress up. The top of this skirt is red and white polka dots(its hard to see).

IMG_0061.jpg

My son will wear a shirt..lol
IMG_0058.jpg

My dd's animal kingdom skirt. I tried to case the dress like it, but I screwed up the bodice twice. So I quit and made a skirt.
IMG_0064.jpg

The front looks the same:) Thanks for the inspiration. I will be coming back for advice.

Tracey, the outfits are great! I just love stripwork skirts! Anna & James are just too cute!!!! What else do you plan to make and when are you leaving?

Ok I just got back from getting lunch and there was a little bit of excitement on the way back. I was happily speeding down the main road (it's actually a highway) and all of a sudden I see blue flashy lights in front of me and then I see some behind me. There are all of a sudden like five or six total blue flashy light cars coming up from behind me. I stopped at the red light and then the policeman that was ahead of me gets in the right-hand turning lane and starts pointing for all of the cars ahead of me to get out of the way, then he pointed at me to do the same. Well it turns out that the truck that was behind the car behind me is who they wanted. They surrounded him and went running at him with guns drawn.

That is some crazy stuff!

Hello Folks!
Well, I finished up the Mickey outfit. The top was such a pain because the directions just left out chunks of instructions (McCalls) I met a woman at our church on Thursday who used to sew and she helped me figure out how to wing it and git 'er done!
Here it is off my little model....

On her- note the front ruffle pops a bit, not sure why it does that...

back(very hard to get this photo!)

Must be a full moon or something cause my husband is grumpy too. And of course we just found out we spent more on our credit card than we realized. Ugh! DD has a cold and a runny nose and it just hit me now (at almost 10pm) that we cant go to church tomorrow because of that. and we didnt go last week. Rare that we dont go 2 weeks in a row, Im bummed.

The outfit turned out super cute and your little one is adorable.

GRRRR!! I had a whole multi-quote thing and then it disappeared!!

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who offered to wear ballerina buns in support of Sally and her attempt to be fashion forward at that TACKY, fashionless HOLE that calls itself a SCHOOL!

*ahem* ;)

ummm...but you didn't mention how dear Scrappy did...

poor him. Poor scrappy.

:sad1:

;)

I was just wondering how you all keep your houses clean. I spent 3 hours today just doing the basics. I pick up and clean stuff during the week too. I really hate the mess so I clean but it whips me out...I am exhausted and I still have a ton of stuff to do. Argggggggg....don't mind me...I am just venting.pirate: (and all's I want to do is to sew my DD's birthday outfit....hmmppsffff) Oh and while I am venting....its our anniversary and DH is angry with me (as usual) and I have no idea what I am doing to make him so miserable and he just blames me for it.....:sad2: grrrrrrrr..... OK now I think I am done  back to work!

Glad to hear the hubby straightened up!!! I swear all men are programmed to be POOTSNORKELS at least once a week if not more! You just have to learn to slap them around a little with an eyebrow arch...while holding something heavy in a menacing way...seriously, ask HeatherSue...it WORKS!!

:goodvibes

did you JUST start sewing?! WOW!!! I'm inspired!!! I need to get my sew on...I"m just afraid of needles...and sewing my hand to fabric or something..

:rotfl:

YAY!! Steph is back! I got my cute Megan fix for the day!

I just made this reversible jumper using CarlaC's (Sew Boutique For Dolly and Me) A-line pattern. It only took me 1 1/2 hours to make both Tessa's and one for her build-a-bear. But, I already had the fabric cut out.

This side is made from the very first fabric I ever bought, back in July. It's oranges. I thought it was very Florida-like. It also reminds me of my late Grandpa who had big orange and graprefruit trees. She'll probably wear it for one of our non-Disney days in Florida.
She thinks this first one is a very model-like pose:

DSC07171Small.jpg

The other side is some fabric that I got on clearance at JoAnn. I thought it was very happy looking. Steph made a shirt for herself out of it a while back and it was really cute.

Super duper cute!!! I Love those tops!! Tessa is just cute as a button!!!

I found a great deal today!!! I'm not much of a shopper, because I'm a total spender. It's amazing, I stayed out of the stores last week, and saved $1200 for my cruise...sad huh? Like I said..I'm a spender. Anyway, I found red and white stripe leggings for only $2.40. I bought 4 pairs. These would be PERFECT for all of those Christmas outfits..I looked high and low for these last year and couldn't find any under 15 dollars. So I bought them a little larger than the girls would wear. They're actually leggings, and not tights, so they look like they will wear well.
I'm getting closer to booking my cruise. I'm going to wait for May, until I get my check from Uncle Sam, then I will book, I don't want to have to pay a balance on it, and don't want to significantly deplete my savings of a few grand..cha-ching! this also gives me time to finalize which month, length, that sort of thing. It's really going to be hard choosing Disney when my Aunt just booked a 9 Night...yes you heard right...a 9 nite on another cruise line, for 4 people for only 1400. I can't even get 4 people into a category 12 on a 4 night for that much. and to top it off, her cruise goes to my favorite port..Turks...
sorry to be so loooong winded..LOL. I'm off to work on my secret project outfit..LOL. I should be done in an hour or so...

ooooohhhh...I wonder what the secret is!!!! Is wicked and forbidden?!! Those are the BEST kinds of secrets!!!;)

JUST KIDDING!!!

seriously.

:flower3:

I forgot to post the top that I made for Jenna using the same pattern. I also made her a matching headband. Jenna has that same BAB Cheetah. She named hers Jennifer.
S2010118.jpg

See there is Jennifer and all of the other babies that sleep in the bed with Jenna.
S2010117.jpg

And just cause she is cute. That bear is her latest BAB. Her name is Anna.

How cute that your baby has so many loveys in bed with her!!! I always gave my lovey babies nice names too...my step kidlets have NO imagination in that arena...they'll basically take the name of whatever animal it is and add a "Y" to it...or name it the color it is...or the noise it makes. It pains me so.

I know...I have issues!

:headache: Okay, here is my latest sewing disaster. I made this outfit (matching tank top, headband and cropped pants, size 3T ;) ) and sadly it is not for Lily. I need to stop making things in her size because it is too hard to part with them! So, things were going great until I realized I forgot the ric rac skull mouth :scared1: and went to go sew it on and realized there is a tiny hole in the back of the fabric of the tank top :scared: I can see where their serger caught up a piece of ribbon and they went to snip it off and snipped a little hole in the fabric. Now I can't list the outfit on that other site that is not :wizard: until I can make sure I can get a new tank top from Old Navy  On the plus side, Lily gets to keep the tank top. On the negative side, that means I will probably use my extra fabric to make her a matching pair of pants (instead of another pair to sell). GRR! Lesson Learned: Inspect store bought tops before adding applique!

IMG_0054.jpg

Oh I LOVE THAT!!! I'm so sad that Sally is just getting too big for so many of these things. I TOLD HER to stop growing...and she won't!

Can't wait to hear the story! That is nice that she loves what you made her! DD10 went to a b-day party for her friend that turned 7. I made her 2 outfits for her AG doll and she was rude! She said "where is my Hannah Montana shirt? I want your mom to make me a Hannah Montana shirt!" :headache: I don't think that's gonna happen!

Oh my word, I'd have slapped that child around with an eyebrow arch so FAST her little head would spin! NO NO NO...where was her mother?!

goodness gracious I cannot ABIDE rudeness like that! Makes me want yank on someone's arm!

:flower3:

Oh dear! That was rude of me not to mention Scrappy. Well, as you can see he is perfectly fine:

IMG_0414.jpg

Apparently Megan left him a lovey in case he gets hungry during the night. Do your doxies sleep under their bed cushions instead of on top of it? I think he is wishing I would get off the computer and go to bed so he could snuggle under the bed covers where he belongs rather than that dog bed!

When Jenna was a baby I bought her a little pink and purple monkey. Her grandma (on her dad's side) asked me what the monkey's name was. I told her that it didn't have a name. She looked at me like this: :scared1: . She told me that all of her babies needed to have names. So the monkey was named "Beans McMonkey" (this name took me two weeks to come up with). So ever since then as a tribute to her Nanny Vette we name all of Jenna's babies. She wants to name them all Jenna or Jennifer. I always have a hard time convincing her to give them individual names.

See and you thought you had issue. :lmao:

Must be a full moon or something cause my husband is grumpy too. And of course we just found out we spent more on our credit card than we realized. Ugh! DD has a cold and a runny nose and it just hit me now (at almost 10pm) that we cant go to church tomorrow because of that. and we didnt go last week. Rare that we dont go 2 weeks in a row, Im bummed.

That turned out soooo cute! And what a sweetie!!!

On the upside Jeanne, that outfit was just too cute not to give to Lily anywa!! :cutie: My lily had her physical for daycare (I can't believe she's going to DAYCARE!!!:sad2: ) and she is 37" and 31 lbs. so she's pretty on par for the course (67th and 64th percentiles) so WHY is it that she's JUST now fitting into a 2 T in the waist but they're almost too short???

...t.

I just had to go and measure my Lily, they really are close! My Lily is 36.5" and 29lbs. Your Lily must just have a teeny waist. princess:

Hush your mouth! She is Luke's! (who scored his very first goal in soccer today and it was about the cutest thing ever).

Oh, and we'll be working on those ballerina buns (were they high or lowish?) for Jayden tomorrow. At the birthday party she went to yesterday she got her hair straightened so we had to leave it straight today--but yikes she looks older! I'll have to put up a pic for Khrystian!

Just de-lurking again to show some of our stuff off. :goodvibes While I don't sew, I can manipulate software - so I tend to do iron ons. I designed this one for our trip (we leave two weeks from today!) - it's the back of my shirt:

101_0205.jpg

And this is the back of the shirt Mom made for herself. The skull and tiara were preset iron-on crystals, but she sat for about an hour placing the numbers... Much, much, much more patience than I have! :rotfl:

Thanks for letting me share and be excited about our trip! More importantly, thanks for the friendship that even a lurker feels on this board.

Does anyone know the current cupon code for YCMT? I'm pretty sure there's one running until April.

Michelle- I feel the same way. I am a lurker too:)
BTW-I will be in Disney when you are. We may be going to the same PPP

For those of you that asked questions...less than two weeks:cool1:

yes- I am a beginner sewer. Also- I didn't really use a pattern for any of those, I kind of winged it:confused3

and- The crazy M&M guy in my living room was an Easter present from my dad. I told him not to bring it over to clutter up my house any more. BUT, you weren't supposed to be looking at my LR... you were supposed to be looking at the outfits:laughing:

Also... I just made dd a corset to go with her pirate skirt. I'll post when she tries it on.

That's really cute! I get soooo mad when I find a flaw in clothes that I have bought. I have a friend that inspects everything with a fine tooth comb when she buys stuff. I guess I'm just too lazy. I barely unfold a t-shirt before I take it up and pay.

disneymom0104 ~ Both fabrics came from Joann's. The blue one I went out of town looking for after someone here posted it. I found it at a larger Joann's in Indianapolis.

Thank you SO much! I was at Joann's today and saw the blue tinkerbell and the pink with the silver princess writing, but didn't see the first two you posted. I will have to check another Joann's as the one I was at today was on the smaller side.

Thanks again!

I read on another thread here..... there are parents who don't like character or boutique clothes:confused3.

It seems they feel very strongly about it. I have never considered that before.

I may have been annoying people without even knowing it :lmao:

Anyway, I have tons to catch up on-we have been on spring break with Morgan's "baby" so I have a ton of pictures (teresajoy-sorry no Jord this time) to upload.

Can anyone reccomend a user friendly twirl skirt pattern for girls? I looked at Joann's today for only a few minutes and couldn't find one...

Ok that is just weird. Why would people completely hate customs. I don't understand why what I put on my child (other than obscene things) would bother someone. Oh well I guess I will be annoying when we go to WDW.
