Morning all!! Just wanted to share a few pictures that I thought y'all might enjoy! I documented this most especially for all y'all!! I also wanted Sally to have a record of her first time sewing! She's a future Disboutiquer for sure!!

okay here goes!!!

Sally and Grandma...the beginning stages! (Sally had a pin in her mouth just like a professional!:lmao: )
100_2450.jpg

Can y'all see the pin? She was already loving the orderly nature of her project! She even poked her fingers a couple of times, but she kept going. It was ceremonial!!!
100_2455.jpg

She's SEWING!!! Finally!!! She was in love with the foot pedal!
100_2457.jpg

I don't know if y'all can see it, but Sally has a little smile of wonder on her face as she sewed. She loved every moment of it!
100_2460.jpg

Going Solo!!! I seriously got choked up...I know, big surprise! Grandma is a teacher and she just knew when to let Sally go it alone!
100_2465.jpg

Teddy wanted to "help put the fluffing in!" Sally let him help...even though she sort of didn't want to. She's good that way!
100_2474.jpg

Sewing the "outer case"! I love this picture. Her confidence was growing by the second. She felt so good about herself. Makes me cry. I love this child so much. I'm so happy to see her feeling good about what she can do!
100_2482.jpg

Showing Sally where to "trim".
100_2491.jpg

SO PROUD of herself!!
100_2524.jpg

She also made a "blanket" to match her pillow! She is now dying to make "travel" pillows to take on the plane for Disney! And pillow cases! I hope my "Sewing for Dummies and Non Artistic types" book arrives soon!!

Sally is officially 9 today. She was just 5 when I met her. She's an amazing little girl...well not little anymore. Young Lady I should say!

happy Monday all!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

BACK TO WORK!!!:cool1:

It typically is - I think you look at your mother's father to see if your children may be bald? However, in Scott's family, the men genetically have too much testosterone and so they all have gone bald early. They are just too manly for their own good. :rolleyes1 We sometimes look at my nephew (who is seven) and just shake our heads to tease my sister in law - she's convinced her son will break the mold. If only....

Sadly... my mom's father was bald too. so my boys (assuming i have any) will REALLY have no chance. :upsidedow Which is ok, because the men in my husband's family are all very handsome.
My Mom's Dad had a nice full head of hair until he died at 91? But, I allready see the signs that that will NOT be the case with Corey. Brian has been "thinning" since I met him, at 26. Most of the men in our family have had a nice head of hair.

Oooh!! I almost bought this dress on disneyshopping.com. But, it was the week after Henry got onto me about spending so much at JoAnn, so I didn't get it. But, I LOVE it! I think it fits her perfectly. I really like shorter dresses on little girls. It sounds like you had a great time!
I know, I was coveting that dress at the Disney Store last time we were there!

I'm not sure I appreciate this line of conversation. :snooty:
I only said very nice things about you. :) You were cute bald!

Thanks! I bought her Lightning McQueen socks at H&M (in the boys dept ;) ). They have Lightning on the foot so you can't see him with shoes on but what does show is the racing checks and '95'. I also got her black/white striped barretts there-they came with red w/black dots and white w/lady bugs.

We are going 5/4 to 5/11. It is just me & DD(5). Once a year is enough for DH but not me so we take one family trip a year and I take the kids one at a time. This is actually her first Mommy/me trip. She's SOOOOOO excited.
That sounds so fun to have a mommy and me trip.

That is so awesome. She looks so happy. She did a great job too. It's a good thing that she has people that are willing to encourage her with her new hobby.

Way to go Sally!!!!:cool1:

Good Morning everybody! It looks like everyone had a busy weekend...I will never get caught up.:surfweb: I skimmed and the outfits are so cute! As are all of the babies...I am not sure that I have any pictures of mine on the computer...we were too poor when we first got married to have a digital so I have tons of photos in a box and more in scrapbooks (my other obsession). I thought all of my babies were the most beautiful things when they were born. Nobody could tell me different, even though my husband tried with the boys:headache: . Now, looking back...eeeeehhhhhhhh...I was blinded by love. ! That's okay. I think they are all sweeties now and are great kids...the rest really does not matter!

My DD's rescheduled birthday party was this weekend. But for one reason or another almost everyone cancelled, which in the end worked out. My grandmother (81) has an aneurysm and it started leaking this weekend, so we traveled home and visited her. The DR gave her some meds to keep her comfortable...now we just wait. There is no way to do any exploratory to see what is happening, but there are two options. One - it is leaking between the layers of the vessel and it will clot. Two - it is leaking into her abdomin...it will continue to leak. She is at home now, so she is happy. i just hate to see her in pain! Just ask for some prayers and strenght for the family right now.:worried:

I will pray for your Grandmother as well as your family. It is always hard to be told that you have to just "wait" Basicly, We are just "waiting" for my daughters liver to fail so she can be moved up on the transplant list. She is doing great now but the reality is that it can happen at any time. I have put it in God's hands and thanks to him, my daughter is doing wonderful. God has a plan for your Grandmother as he does for my daughter :)

Slightly Obcessed....baldness is passed from the mother, so you look at your brothers or your mom's brothers. I'm sure that with all that testosterone it will have some effect but maybe not. And, I can think of a ton of hot men that are bald!!!

Thanks for your kind words. We went thru the transplant thing 3 years ago with my FIL. It is hard that you have to wait for them to get sick enough to get healthy again. He is no longer a candidate for a transplant, so he lives with us and I take care of him. I will add you to my prayers also.

My prayers go out to both of your families. The waiting must be torture. :grouphug: I hope all ends well for both or your families.

My DH is mostly bald. He started losing his hair when he was 18!!!:scared1: He looks way older than he is right now. He got his no hair trait from his mom's side of the family. His dad has a full head of hair, but his uncle's on his mom's side are bald. DH is handsome even without hair. I think so anyway. What he lacks in hair he makes up for in personality.

Elise (CastleCreations).....I was thinking that you made one of your girls an outfit out of crab material but I couldn't find anything in the photobucket account. Did you make one? If so, could you post it again?

I haven't shared in awhile but this is what I got done yesterday. DD wanted a Hannah Montana top and I was finally able to get it done. It took me awhile to decypher the pattern. Most of the afternoon!!! But after I did the first one, I was able to whip up the second one in about an hour. She loves it!!! Onto the pics.... Oh and these are the first pics with her new glasses that she got last week. :)

I have a delimma. I sold a car to my Best Friend and now two weeks later she says that they don't want to deal with the issues that the car has and wants to give it back to me. She was told about everything that was wrong with the car before she even came to get the car. Am I being a (insert bad word here) for asking them to keep their end of the deal? I told them that I would take some money off of the car because one of the problems is a little worse than we previously thought, but I feel that a deal is a deal.

Did they sign anything (a contract or agreement of some sort??). That would be helpful. A lot of national/big car chains give you 3 days buyers remorse, but two week sis way too log.

Now, I think you are right to make them keep their end of the bargain. But you may lose a friend like that, is it worth that?

I thought baldness was carried by the women. I think if the men in your family have hair your boys will too.:confused3 My DH was bald early too but I don't think my DS has to worry.

I was taught in AP biology in High school that baldness does indeed come from your mom's genes, so look at mom's dad, uncles, brothers.

Thanks so much for sharing!! It was soooo awesome to see her first project. You are so sweet for documenting it. She will always have these special memories of grandma teaching her, and now she will have the pictures to cherish forever!!

Thank you so much for photographing this momentous occasion for us!! How special that she had her grandma teach her to sew. It looks like she did a wonderful job! Tell her I love her pillow!

I'll be praying for your grandma and your family.

I didn't realize your daughter had this health issue. It must be really scary for you. I'll be praying for your daughter, too.

I had always been told this, too. But, I knew I also heard this was a myth. I looked it up online and I must have heard it was a myth from Dr.Oz on Oprah. Here's a link:

http://www.baldiness.com/baldness-and-its-myths-are-discussed-on-oprah/

He says since you have 2 parents, baldness can come from either side of the family. The fact that it only comes from the mother's side isn't true. So, that may give some hope to kids who have bald maternal grandfathers!

First ~ prayers to everyone who has loved ones with health problems. I know how stressful it can be when you are living with worry.

Life has been crazy here!:dance3: Drew had a horrible cold the week before last and missed almost the whole week of school. Riley woke up last sunday with a kidney/bladder infection. She has a long history with this and had surgery last year to help. She was devastated and very upset because we had a special big girl & mommy day planned for my birthday. We ended up going to the hospital and then going on with our shopping day! I have been getting ready for a garage sale. Riley ended up missing all but Friday from school so she got really behind on her science project for the fair so yesterday her science challenged mom had to help her finish her project!

Anyway.... That was just whining. You can ignore that. Mostly I am just hoping that things settle down around here and that when Riley goes off her prescription that her infection does not come back. We have had times when it has taken months to finally get one to clear up.

I did take some time to work on a simple project.

This was pretty fun to do! Can you tell what it is? I don't like the jeans so I am going to look for some pretty fabric to make some capris out of.

That's the outfit!!!!!!!!! I looked everywhere for it in the photobucket account but I must admit that I always overlook stuff in there but if it was with the other crab stuff -- I am blind!

I love that outfit! I bought 2 different crab materials at JoAnn's months ago and I finally started the outfit this past week. Should have already been finished but other things have gotten in the way. I am making a patchwork twirl skirt too but it won't be nearly as fluffy as yours (does Ireland have her petti on under it?). Thanks for posting it again!!!!!!

I love that shirt! So unique and Hello Kitty is cute as a button!!!! I think your jeans are cute with it but I like your idea of some different capri's. This way she will have two looks for the shirt! Great job!
