Disboutiquers Part 4ish Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes psst..we sew

I am giving up sewing for the night. I am tired of Jenna's pirate jacket. I just spent one hour sewing on little glass beads and I am only half done with the beads.

Hello Folks!
Well, I finished up the Mickey outfit. The top was such a pain because the directions just left out chunks of instructions (McCalls) I met a woman at our church on Thursday who used to sew and she helped me figure out how to wing it and git 'er done!
Here it is off my little model....

On her- note the front ruffle pops a bit, not sure why it does that...

back(very hard to get this photo!)

Must be a full moon or something cause my husband is grumpy too. And of course we just found out we spent more on our credit card than we realized. Ugh! DD has a cold and a runny nose and it just hit me now (at almost 10pm) that we cant go to church tomorrow because of that. and we didnt go last week. Rare that we dont go 2 weeks in a row, Im bummed.

This turned out soooo cute! She is adorable!

Just de-lurking again to show some of our stuff off. :goodvibes While I don't sew, I can manipulate software - so I tend to do iron ons. I designed this one for our trip (we leave two weeks from today!) - it's the back of my shirt:

101_0205.jpg

And this is the back of the shirt Mom made for herself. The skull and tiara were preset iron-on crystals, but she sat for about an hour placing the numbers... Much, much, much more patience than I have! :rotfl:

101_0208.jpg

Thanks for letting me share and be excited about our trip! More importantly, thanks for the friendship that even a lurker feels on this board.

Great job!

I read on another thread here..... there are parents who don't like character or boutique clothes:confused3.

It seems they feel very strongly about it. I have never considered that before.

I may have been annoying people without even knowing it :lmao:

Anyway, I have tons to catch up on-we have been on spring break with Morgan's "baby" so I have a ton of pictures (teresajoy-sorry no Jord this time) to upload.

:scared1: :scared:  :confused3 I don't understand why someone would care what I put on my own child! I guess some people have nothing better to do than complain about great parents who want their children to look as cute as possible! :snooty:

Oh my you have been busy! Everything is great I love the lace you used on the giselle outfit!
I was just wondering how you all keep your houses clean. I spent 3 hours today just doing the basics. I pick up and clean stuff during the week too. I really hate the mess so I clean but it whips me out...I am exhausted and I still have a ton of stuff to do. Argggggggg....don't mind me...I am just venting.pirate: (and all's I want to do is to sew my DD's birthday outfit....hmmppsffff) Oh and while I am venting....its our anniversary and DH is angry with me (as usual) and I have no idea what I am doing to make him so miserable and he just blames me for it.....:sad2: grrrrrrrr..... OK now I think I am done back to work!
Sometimes it doesn't get done! There I said it!! Just today my FIL came in to use the restroom when they got back from the sports show and I was not prepared to have visitors in the house- there were dirty dishes, clothes that needed folding, and the place looked like the toy box threw up! :scared: Well I just hope he remembers what it's like to have 2 small children in the house and what his place looks like after my little tornados have been there for five minutes :lmao: My dh and I both work full time and if I don't ask for him to do something it would never cross his mind to do it on his own! Except the few times he has done dishes. I think this is pretty typical dh behavior- but sometimes I would just like him to help out a little more- ya know;) :rotfl2:
Hey ladies... I have been on before. I lurk constantly...our trip is coming up and I wanted to show you what I made so far:)
I am a total beginner. Here are outfits for pirate and princess party "if" we go...I might make a skirt for myself...I also made bandanas for the whole family and my dh will also have a red/white striped belt. He doesn't really want to dress up. The top of this skirt is red and white polka dots(its hard to see).

th_IMG_0058.jpg
th_IMG_0064.jpg

The front looks the same:) Thanks for the inspiration. I will be coming back for advice.
Very Cute!! Have a great time!!
Love it Heather!! Very Florida!! My grandpa has been gone 6 years now :sad1: His birthday is next week.
How frustrating- It looks very cute though!!
Hey, do you all remember my friend whose daughter has leukemia? She is in the latest edition of Star magazine! Her dad works for Fox and met David Cook, a contestant on American Idol. He has been wearing her bracelet every week and there is an article about it in the magazine. There is a picture of Lindsey and everything! I ran into them today and she told me she loves the skirt and t-shirt I did for her and wants me to make her more. Her mother told her she was being rude, but I told her that's the best thing someone who sews can hear! Now I am excited about making something new for her.
So glad you had a fun trip!! Can't wait to see all the rest of the pics!!
:yay: That you can make little girls day!! and that she wants more!!!
Glad scrappy is well!!

th_S2010117.jpg

And just cause she is cute. That bear is her latest BAB. Her name is Anna.

Aww, she is so sweet!

I will tell him: there is quite a story about that face paint!

Do we have to wait for your TR to read the story about the face paint? I can't wait if it means you are writing one,...I guess.

I was just wondering yesterday how that little girl was doing. How cool she is in Star magazine!!! And, very very cool that she wants more outfits!!!

BTW....I think I did something to my left shoulder...I either have bursitis or I strained or ripped a tendon....its been killing me  for a month so I am going to get it looked at...

Oh and one last thing...I got asked to chaperone the prom and it's May 3rd (hey that the first day of Heather and Teresa's first day at Disney!!:cool1: ) Should I buy a dress or make one?? It actually may be cheaper to buy one since I don't have to get as decked out as the girls... I would love to make that Enchanted Dress (the aqua one). Would that be stupid? I am not quite sure I should....hmmmppffff.

Ok now I am really off to sew. I have Moda fabric  ....its spoiling me for anything else...such nice stuff!

OUCH, sorry about your shoulder!! I hope the doctors can make it all better for you!

I was just finishing up Giselle's teal dress for a dear Diser friend's daughter (well, it's actually a long top, not a dress). I think it would be cute! I'm just really partial to that dress! Go for it!

Very cute!!! Your daughter is adorable!!! Sometimes if you press it really good, a ruffle will stay down. Or, you can tack it down. It looks really cute though!
my step kidlets have NO imagination in that arena...they'll basically take the name of whatever animal it is and add a "Y" to it...or name it the color it is...or the noise it makes. It pains me so.
They sound like Arminda and Lydia! For a long time, Lydia named all her Teddy bears the most origianal name of Beary. One of the last times we were at BBW, Corey and I made a bet as to what they would name the white dog with hearts. Corey said they would name it Hearts and I said Love Doggy. (We did this where Arminda and Lyddy couldn't hear us). Well, when it came time to name the Dog, Arminda wanted to name it Love Doggy and Lydia wanted to name it Hearts. Corey and I were busting up laughing, and the girls couln't figure out why!
When Jenna was a baby I bought her a little pink and purple monkey. Her grandma (on her dad's side) asked me what the monkey's name was. I told her that it didn't have a name. She looked at me like this: :scared1: . She told me that all of her babies needed to have names. So the monkey was named "Beans McMonkey" (this name took me two weeks to come up with). So ever since then as a tribute to her Nanny Vette we name all of Jenna's babies. She wants to name them all Jenna or Jennifer. I always have a hard time convincing her to give them individual names.

See and you thought you had issue. :lmao:

Aww, I love that story!

Hush your mouth! She is Luke's! (who scored his very first goal in soccer today and it was about the cutest thing ever).

Oh, and we'll be working on those ballerina buns (were they high or lowish?) for Jayden tomorrow. At the birthday party she went to yesterday she got her hair straightened so we had to leave it straight today--but yikes she looks older! I'll have to put up a pic for Khrystian!

Yep, she tells me she is going to marry Luke!

We took some pictures of Arminda in her pettiskirt yesterday, and we put the cute little buns in her hair. I'll post pictures in a minute.

The t-shirts look great!!! I don't have the patience to do those crystals either!
Thanks for sharing, and you nice words!

and- The crazy M&M guy in my living room was an Easter present from my dad. I told him not to bring it over to clutter up my house any more. BUT, you weren't supposed to be looking at my LR... you were supposed to be looking at the outfits:laughing:

Outfits first, I spy second! :rotfl:

Does anyone know the current cupon code for YCMT? I'm pretty sure there's one running until April.
I don't know of one, but I wanted to tell you that I love your new siggy picture!!

I read on another thread here..... there are parents who don't like character or boutique clothes:confused3.

You have to stop going to other threads Cindee! ;) What a very odd thing for people to get their panties in a bunch about! What do they care how we dress our kids? :confused3 It's not like they are indecent or something. They are just very cute! Oh well, I suppose it gives them something to talk about!

Can anyone reccomend a user friendly twirl skirt pattern for girls? I looked at Joann's today for only a few minutes and couldn't find one...

There are quite a few twirl skirt patterns in the bookmarks. They are super easy to make (although there's a lot of gathering involved, which I hate to do!)

:scared1: :scared:  :confused3 I don't understand why someone would care what I put on my own child! I guess some people have nothing better to do than complain about great parents who want their children to look as cute as possible! :snooty:

Crazy, isn't it!

Well I did not sew today- instead I took a nap too! and it felt good, well until FIL saw our pig sty, then I felt like I should have been cleaning while the boys were out! :laundy:

Teresa- I love both my grammies and my step grammy too! I went to my other grammy's house this afternoon- she is a funny lady! She always gives us the 411 on all her neighbors- she's the nosy watch out the window kind :lmao: We all have breakfast together about twice a month- so I'll see them both again tomorrow. One grammy picks up the other and meets at the community center- whoever can comes. I'm sorry you're grandma isn't very nice to you & heather. I feel very fortunate to be close with them. Even though they can drive me buggy sometimes :lmao:

the place looked like the toy box threw up!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: My house usually looks like that!

Which is why I took the pettiskirts to my Mom's house yesterday to take pictures! And here they are:

This is the same petti that Lyddy was under in the other picture, it is actually lavendar and not blue like it looked in the other picture.
S6300340.JPG.jpg

S6300342.JPG.jpg

And, I had to share this one, because this was like the only good picture I got of her standing. After this, she thought it would be very funny to hide from me. Ok, I thought it was funny too! I got lots of pictures of her running away from me!
S6300346.JPG.jpg

Riding Butterscotch:
S6300350.JPG.jpg

And, then, Heather and her friend, Jenny and kids came over. This is, Ryen the little girl that Heather made the princess jumper for, she LOOOOVED the pettiskirt! (this is actually Arminda's)

S6300369.JPG.jpg

And, look how ADORABLE Jenny's daughter, Ryen looks in this picture!

S6300371.JPG.jpg

And, then Arminda put it on so I could take some pictures of her too:

Doesn't she look adorable!!!

GREAT twirl factor!
S6300374.JPG.jpg

And, if that just wasn't enough pictures for you, you can see the rest here:
http://picasaweb.google.com/teresajoy/GrandmaSHouseAndPettiskirs

Plus, you can see more of my Mom's house! :rotfl:

Teresa- They ALL look so cute!!! And your moms house is BEAUTIFUL!!
Oh yes and how is butterscotch we haven't heard much about that cute little horse! :rotfl2:

You are really lucky with all those Grammys!!!

I love my Grandma, but she doesn't make it easy.

Aww thanks! I think they are pretty darn cute too! I love my Mom's house too. And, her neighbor's house isnt' too shabby either! (that would be Heather's house!)

Lyddy just woke up crying. I don't think she's feeling well. She has been so sick this winter (even though it's spring now). I think I better try to get us both to sleep now! Night Anna and everybody!

ETA: Butterscotch is doing pretty good, he/she seems to be in need of some new batteries though. She's slowing down a bit!

Hmmm, :confused3 . I think it is very special to sew something for the special people in your life, especially the little people. :goodvibes My mom and grandma sewed and made me and my siblings a lot of things for me when I was a child. I used to think nothing of it back then, but now I understand how those hours of sewing, knitting, and crocheting were acts of love.

Yesterday I went to our Girl Scout council annual meeting which was 45 minutes away. Then on the way back I stopped at Hancock Fabrics. I managed to find Fairly Odd Parents fabric in both a blue and also a purple background for $1.95 a yard, Little Einsteins for $6.99 a yard (used a coupon), and other Disney fabrics for 1/2 off.

Many of you posted your fabric stashes. I am on my way!

I want some Fairly Oddparents fabric. I think that I will have to check out our Hancocks again and see if they have any.

Teresa- That is so funny about Lydia naming her bears Beary. The light pink bear in the back of the picture with Jennifer is named Beary Bear. :lmao: When Jenna got the one with the Hearts on it she wanted to name it Beary Bear also.

I think of little Lindsey and her parents often. I'll have to look for Star magazine!

Hello Folks!
Well, I finished up the Mickey outfit. The top was such a pain because the directions just left out chunks of instructions (McCalls) I met a woman at our church on Thursday who used to sew and she helped me figure out how to wing it and git 'er done!
Here it is off my little model....

.jpg[/IMG]
I had a McCall's pattern that left out how to attach the neckband to a v-neck pajama top. I never did finish that shirt! How frustrating, especially if I had paid full price for it (which I never do).

The Mickey outfit turned out darling!!! I like the way the ruffle sticks out! Your DD is such a cute little peanut!!!

my step kidlets have NO imagination in that arena...they'll basically take the name of whatever animal it is and add a "Y" to it...or name it the color it is...or the noise it makes. It pains me so.
I understand your pain. Tessa has no imagination when it comes to naming her bears. The one in the photo is named Cheetah. Although, I give her credit because she is aware that is officially a leopard. When she was 2, she got her first Build-A-Bear and she named it Black. It was a white bear. At least it was original! :lmao:

Heather, my love, I just have to tell you, YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE WITH THAT GIRL!!! That gorgeous little thing is going to have boys breaking your door down, I'm telling you!
Hmmm...maybe that's the real reason Henry is going to be a reserve police officer...
He says he's going to volunteer to work at every school function she attends. :rotfl:

Hush your mouth! She is Luke's! (who scored his very first goal in soccer today and it was about the cutest thing ever).
That's right! :thumbsup2
GREAT JOB LUKE!!!! Did you get it on video?

Awww...you went and made ma all teary-eyed with that last comment.
The t-shirt design is really cute! I also love that your mom made herself a sparkly shirt for the PPP! How pretty!

I read on another thread here..... there are parents who don't like character or boutique clothes:confused3.

I will NOT try to find that thread! I don't like to get mad/hurt. But, I just have to say that the only reason it could bother tham that our kids wear custom clothes is because they are jealous of all the attention our kids get!:snooty:

Can anyone reccomend a user friendly twirl skirt pattern for girls? I looked at Joann's today for only a few minutes and couldn't find one...
Try the bookmarks, if you haven't already!

Love it Heather!! Very Florida!! My grandpa has been gone 6 years now :sad1: His birthday is next week.

Look at the perty girls!!! It's great to look through those pictures and see mom's house get progressively messier as the night goes on! :rotfl: It looks like it was really clean when you got there! You got some very nice pictures of it! Whenever I try to take pictures at mom's house, they always look too yellow.

Teresa- They ALL look so cute!!! And your moms house is BEAUTIFUL!!
Oh yes and how is butterscotch we haven't heard much about that cute little horse! :rotfl2:
Butterscotch has been a bit ignored lately. There has been a renewed interest in him in the last few weeks, which is good!
ETA: My dad built that house himself (with some help of Henry and one of his friends)!!

Men are born grumpy!! I think your outfit came out cute. I'm glad you didn't do the Mickey head. You could try to top stitch, to keep the ruffle down, or wait and see what happens after you wash it a few times. It might soften up.

I like the McCalls 3836.

Gah! Suddenly I MUST get a pink petti skirt for Pissy!

Sam's looks like it's less expensive, are they the same in cuteness as the other site? I'm a very visual consumer and the other place's pictures sold me :rolleyes1

What do you petti-experts (heather and teresa) think?
Is there quantity discounts? I know of a few Utah mamas of girls that would prolly add to my order ;)

Morgan and I had a magical (busy) week.

We were able to spent quite a bit of time with Morgan's "Baby". (This is the little boy Morgan knew from China) It is amazing to see these two children reunited again on this side of the world!

We went to Sea World
shamu.jpg

and got "VIP" seats for the Elmo pirate show:

abbyc.jpg

And MK (No customs, but Morgan and I wore matching Tinkerbell tees:) where we celebrated Morgan's Birthday. We were in the Family fun parade:

The kids got to make Cotton Candy (and keep the whole bag they made!)
cottoncandy.jpg

And they made "cakes" at the candy shop on Main Street.

 Awww I LOVE this outfit!!!! You did a great job!!! I wouldn't have wanted to part with it either. Hahaha. Hey may I ask what pattern you used for the pants??

Thanks! I used Carla's easy fit pants and added a bit to the top so I could make the ruffle on top of the casing.

Wow, I love the pettiskirts! They look gorgeous on the girls! And I just :lovestruc Lydia's hair. If I could just get the stylist to dye mine that color--unfortunately anything that pretty only exists in nature  I love the picture of her on butterscotch! Now Lily is asking for both the skirt and the horsie :scared: And you must tell Arminda I LOVE her hair! What a fashion forward girl! It really does look so cute on her, and with that Hannah Montana shirt and the petti she looks like quite the fashion diva!

Does anyone have a solid Mickey pattern they would be willing to share? I need one for the shirts and I was going to blow it up to use for our countdown calendar. TIA!

I did not know they could make cakes and cotton candy! Love her wahale dress. And I think it is super sweet that these kids get to see each other again. I am sure there was an instant bond when they saw each other again.
