A.)You don't know what you're missing! :snooty:

22.)Much like mine when I saw Teresa's Marie dress. Lydia is so pretty in it!
A.)I don't drink and I don't smoke, and I dont swear, but let me tell you, I was about as close to doing all three as I've ever been finishing up Arminda's Cinderella dress last night!!! GRRRRRRRRR..... It's done now, THANK GOODNESS! I'll post pictures in a bit..

ETA: I don't have a problem with people drinking, but it makes me feel very sick.

22.)Aww, thanks!!! You are so sweet! I love Megan's too!

Teresa, maybe you've already finished but I think Carla's peasant dress pattern makes a perfect Cinderella dress (or top)!

IMG_0721-1.jpg

This would have been a MUUUUUCH better idea than what I did!!! The pattern I used was a PITB!

I have to post this picture because I think that this dress is just absolutely breathtaking. I did not make it though. I bought it on Etsy.
th_S2010144.jpg

I'm going to put it up and surprise Jenna with it when we go to WDW.

She now has two princess dresses and I'm making her a third one. Do you think that's enough? :lmao: Last year she didn't have any princess dresses and only two custom outfits. My how the Dis changes things. :lmao: This is Jenna's Snow White dress from Halloween.
S2010012.jpg
Gorgeous Cinderlla dress!!! Jenna is going to LOVE it!!!

I like her Snow White dress too! I thought that one was so pretty! I was tempted by it, but we have Snow White dresses coming out of our ears around here!
I just custom ordered from this Voldemort seller to match some of DDs outfits- and got this design in different colors- arent these just too cute!
274f_1.JPG

Ok, where is this gift basket?? Sounds nice!!!

And, those bows are ADORABLE!!!! I love them!

I think it will be beautiful in silvery. :rotfl: It's not blue in the movie & it's always bugged me that they make all the play dresses & dolls in blue. Just doesn't make sense to me, but MY little angel still wants a blue dress. :confused3 Maybe I'll get her to see it my way before we go again...:rolleyes1

Ok, here, I'll post a picture, it may or may not help! :rotfl2:

(I'm uploading it, so I'll post in my next post...)

Ok, here is Arminda's Cinderella dress. She tried it on this morning before I put the sleeves on, and she looked pretty cute in it!

Corey kidnapped my Dad's new DSLR camera last night, I may have him to to get some pictures in it outside. That is if the temperature gets past FOURTY STINKIN DEGREES today! (at least I can pack the shorts without worrying about needing them before we go!)

Wow! That is gorgeous! That fabric is perfect. I love it.

Hi all!! Everone's stuff is looking so great. I am jealous of all the cinderella costumes. We have on from DS, but I may try one anyway.

Yea to Tessa for the invitation:cheer2: :woohoo: Now if I can just get my four year old to do that!

I started my scallopini last night. I got the scallops done and they look pretty good. I will post a pic when it is done. I was really nervous about trying it, but it was not too bad making the scallops. Now I just need to figure out a top for it. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of tops work well with it? I had tought about a peasant top or mabye a halter of some kind?????:confused3

That is such a great dress. I bet she looks so royal in it.

.

Thanks! The Pooh dress is for breakfast at the Crystal Palace on my birthday next Tuesday.

We will be looking for you!! Can you come to the campfire on Thursday?

I just had to share Olivia's New Ears that came in the mail today! She is so excited and will NOT take them out of her hair!

ears.jpg
Those are adorable!! I would so wear those myself!

Anyway, Henry told me that if I keep making this dorky stuff he won't be seen with me.

I would SO wear those Mickey ears in my hair!! They're so cute!

I also intend to wear my Cinderella crown.

Well, we will see who looks like the dork when he is walking aorund in a plain old t-shirt and the rest of us are sportin our custom ts!!! HAH! He will be so embarassed that he doesn't have one then!

I am trying to figure out how to pack my crowns!
wanted to say hi! I was obsessive with this thread last year when we were planning our last trip. After Mark got home, he deployed and fell off teh earth basically until I recently got put on medication. I am looking to you all for some inspiration. We are planning a surprise trip for DD when Mark gets home. Now how am I supposed to make these beautiful creations and not try them on her? It is gonna kill me!

I remember you! How have you been? So good to see you posting again!
I plan on making me some ears for myself and I have a crown to wear. DH will probably not want to be around me when we are there, but oh well It's my vacation too.

Just tell her like I tell Jenna...They are for someone on ebay and the little girl is the same size as you. It works everytime.QUOTE]

I do the same thing with my kids. It works well for toys that I am buying that I don't want them to have right away too! "Oh, that is for someone I know on the interenet..." Yeah, I lie to my kids!

Okay, here is me and my SIL acting the part of peter pan and cpt hook

Here is me at the Tusker House in my custom shirt!
DisneyPics-Allison048.jpg

I love the pictures!! You are so PRETTY!

Have any of you ever made any nursing tops or dresses? Wanting to make a dress to wear to MNSSHP for myself but it needs to be very easy as I have never sewed before. Both DD's will be dressed as Princess in store bought outfits.

I have never used a nursing top, do you really like them? I always used a nursing coverup if I was in public. I always wore tops that I could lift up from the bottom easily. If you are not nursing in public, a dress with a zipper in the back works great too. This never occured to me when I nursed Corey, but when I was nursing Arminda, I noticed that a friend of mine did that. You just unzip the dress a bit, then pull out one arm. Like I said, this really should only be done if you are not in a public place!

I've made a few new things lately...
Here's a new music dress for Julie:
th_DSC05577.jpg

And a new dress for DD. It really isn't as huge as it looks in this picture!!!!
th_DSC05580.jpg

I love the doll dresses, and your daughter's dress is beautiful!

My google is better than your google! Just kidding, hope they helped!

You are funny STeph!!! Have you been drinking again????:lmao:

Hey, just in case anyone is interested: I updated my trip report!

I am subtle that way!

WOO HOO!!! Thanks for letting us know, that is very considerate of you! Unlike some people (MISS CAMMIE!) who update their trip report and I have to find out about it from my sister on the phone! :snooty:

Which means we don't have to leave our families, don't have to sell our house and I don't have to leave my job to find a new one.

And I know I'm a couple days behind, but I just wanted you guys to know a liger is pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic. :upsidedow pst... please don't tell anyone I walked out of the theatre the first time I saw it. I love it now. I promise.
I am so happy for you!!!!!!

Ok, I will believe you about Napoleon Dynamite. You quoted that line really nice.

Can ppl post their Carla Cs portrait peasant dress? Im trying to decide which design I want to make.
The photobucket account is full of them!

All this talk about bows so thought I should share a picture of what I got yesterday! I am going to use them to keep my hair pulled back in a pony tail, they work great!

4472b7de.jpg

Here is what I'll be wearing them with.

I never posted a picture of this shirt either. I am not sure what I think of it now. I might make the M bigger. At first I had it all in more minnie font, but changed it, but now the M looks too tiny.

bc95f3f7.jpg

Thanks again Laura!

I LOVE it that you are wearing the bows!!! That is so cool!

My DD was running around (being herself:lmao: ) this morning. I said "For this child I did pray..." She stops and says "WHAT were you thinking!" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh, I just HAVE to meet you guys!!! That is so funny!

I am so proud of Tessa and I had to share with you all. She wanted to have a party (she has lots of impromptu parties) and so she was writing invitations. She usually writes mostly scribbles and then signs her name. But, I was completely shocked when she handed me my "invitation" and it said:

MOM
BRBE
PRTE
TESSA

She sounded out the words and wrote them all by herself!! I am so proud!! In case you don't speak Tessa, it says "Mom, Barbie party, Tessa. She's never been to preschool, she's just a genius! :rotfl2:

You tell Tessa that Aunt Teresa is VERY proud of her too!!! Our girls are so smart!!! Where do they get this??? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Okay, I couldn't go back to lurking without commenting on that! It's good to know our grandkids will have both brains and beauty! :rotfl: What a smart girl! Luke is very creative. I think my favorite picture I have hanging up of his is a picture he drew of a bowl with all kinds of different colored swirls in it. His teacher asked him what it was and he said "a bowl full of expirements":lmao:

Yep, that Luke is going to fit in real well!!! What a cutie!!!

Way to go Tessa! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I totally knew what she wrote. I hope to see you at the World next weekend. We arrive next Thursday night, so no campfire for us. :sad1:

We will have to work something out to meet you!!!! PM or email one of us!

I have the bodice and cap sleeves with ruffle cut out
Id like to incorporate a second fabric into this by doing 2 ruffles at the bottom of the basic dress with ruffle

Do I do both ruffles in a double thickness?
Do I have to do an attachment band betwen the two ruffles?

Heres what Im thinking-
I can cut first ruffle at one size and then second ruffle could be...I dont know- maybe an 1.5" longer

so for example I would cut a 3" long ruffle, and then a 4.5" long ruffle and sew together
but if I fold them both in half and then sew those on to the skirt bottom- thats 5 layers to attach- that seems awfully thick....

Please help!!

Also- what width elastic (and kind) am i supposed to be using at neck and arms? I will go reread but missed it in the intro if it was there

I can see why it was a pain (that fabric had to be soooo slippery), but it's gorgeous! You did a fantastic job.

Thanks again Laura!

I love it! Don't change it! I want one too!

Honestly, I very rarely use the measurements given for the skirt pieces. I always make them fuller. Here's some things I've made with the PP ebook.

th_IMG_2681.jpg

This one I modified the patern, I lengthened the bodice piece.

th_IMG_2592.jpg

Another modified vrsion. The "skirt" is more of an a line.

th_2cutekids_IMG_0216.jpg
I love them all. Once I get the first one done, I can start experimenting. For the top that you lenghtened the bodice, did you add anything to the bodice? Or just hemmed it?

Ok, here is Arminda's Cinderella dress. She tried it on this morning before I put the sleeves on, and she looked pretty cute in it!

This is beautiful! I love how it is a little silvery. Kind of like in the movie! Great job!

I did this with this pattern what I did was make one ruffle peice slightly shorter than the other. I doubled them both and basted them together. That let me gather at the same time and attach them to the skirt all at once. It was a touch bulky, but as long as you topstitch when you are done it should not be a problem unless you are using super bulky fabric. I was using cotton print and it did fine.
I can't get photobucket here but the dress I did it on is in the photobucket account. It was red and white dot with a black and white dot and yellow and blck dot ruffle. If you don't find it let me know and I can post a pic when I get home.

My sister is truly amazing! I can't believe she can crank these things out when she really sets her mind to it! It is a GORGEOUS dress!!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the fabric. You did a wonderful job on it. I can't wait to see all of our girls walking through the parks in their gorgeous gowns!

Okay, I couldn't go back to lurking without commenting on that! It's good to know our grandkids will have both brains and beauty! :rotfl: What a smart girl! Luke is very creative. Thanks for the cheers for Tessa! She started sounding out words when she was almost 4. But then she decided she didn't need to do that anymore. So, she stopped. She's just starting to do it again!

I haven't tried a double ruffle, so I can't help you with that. But, I looked at the materials list on the pattern and it says to use 3/8" elastic for kids and 1/4" for dolly.

Hey Jord! I'd love to meet you. I hope you wear your cute HSM cheerleading outfit!

PS- HeatherSue, you're a doll!! 3/8"....Im off to check my stash

I love them all. Once I get the first one done, I can start experimenting. For the top that you lenghtened the bodice, did you add anything to the bodice? Or just hemmed it?

I lengthened it then added a ruffle.

I did a folded double ruffle on this set. I sewed the two strips together (at the top) then ruffled the strips. I didn't have any problem attatching the thick ruffle. This is how I always have done a double ruffle, usually on jeans.

there is no keeping up with this thread. I have loved everything- love reading the updated trip reports (thanks for posting here, I always just click your siggy and read away) and loved all the new stuff.

I am almost done. I have the smocked jumper left and about 4 weeks to go. So what is a girl to do? Throw 3 more projects in there! I had this shirt made for a friend's daughter for her bug birthday party. So, I just had to make her a skirt too, right? PS- I know I am a mean mommy for making Coops try it on. I needed to figure out the sizing a bit. He is pretty small for his age, so I made it a bit big on him. The waist gapes a bit, but I figure that it will fit a "normal" sized child correctly.

And I finally finished the monsters Inc outfits. I psyched myself up this past week. I re-read the youcanmakethis tutorial on applique and re-read, and re-re-read HeatherSue's tutorial (which is the best, btw) and finally gave it a try. I feel pretty good about how they came out. I wish that I could have found a shade deeper thread, but that was the best that I could do.
IMG_1442-1.jpg

IMG_1443-1.jpg

And Cooper's response to seeing the finished Mike shirts was "good job, mommy, soooo where is the big guy, you know the one with TWO eyes". Yeah, not going to even try that one!!

Okay, I have to share the funniest thing my DH said last night. We just changed our reservations to add another day

He started for the first time asking questions about our trip...several of his co-workers just returned from trips...so he wants to make sure I am prepared:rotfl2: ...he has yet to see the 2" binder with info...

So, he was asking about our hotel and what there is there and he asked if there was a place to do laundry. I said yes, he said...hold on here is the funny part...

"Great, we don't have to pack but maybe 3-4 outfits per kid then we can do laundry mid week and save space in the van!":lmao:

Funny guy! Has he no idea how I have been killing myself sewing! Oh, that's right...he really has no idea because I hide it all in fear he will freak over how much is being spent on fabric! My logic...wait till we are at WDW...the kids look adorable, then he won't freak...

but really...3-4 outfits!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I will never catch up on everybody's outfits, but they are all very cute! Love the Mickey Jedi...the reason for moving our date is to do Star Wars weekend with our kids... that means I need more fabric!!!!

MUST SEW...

Husbands are so funny! Last year when we went, my DH thought our girls were going to be made fun of in their customs. Of course, they weren't and were given lots of attention because of them! Just wait till our next trip and we have twice the number of customs!

:

Just call it reverse sewing! :rolleyes1

Not that I have any experience with it...:rolleyes1

I love it! Reverse sewing :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Im back on page 219- but wanted to post in case anyone is following .
I got my gastric emptying screening this morning.
At the 60min mark you're suppose to be a 40-45% empty. I was at 25%
At the 90min you should be at 50%- the guy doing my test said no, I didnt make the cut off and prepared for a shot of reglan for the second 90m, but Dr giving me the shot looked at the results and said I just barely made it under the wire and I didnt have to get the shot. Yea!!! So...results back next wednesday. Radioactive material should be out of me by this evening and DD cant sit on my lap for prolonged periods until then.
She had her 2yr old exam today which Daddy had to take her to.
They did the toe-prick hemoglobin test and she cried- but DH has had a bandaid on his hand recently and shes facinated with "boo boos" well, they put a band-aid on her toe and he said- 'look Megan, you have boo boo now too! Just like Daddy!" and she stopped crying immediately and said "Boo Boo!" and was facinated with her first "boo boo band'aid"
She showed me when I came home.

I STILL havent gotten sewing again- girls, Im telling you, I have the worst time with this- I think my average is 5 days between outfits. ...sigh...
well -gotta go catch up

Hope you are feeling better and that your 2 year old does okay without "her" lap!

just wanted to reply quick
I own DVC too- Old Key West- DH and I bought in a couple years ago- and we bought resale. PM me with any questions you have. We love it and we love the flexibility it offers. In Oct we stayed for 10 days at OKW, now we are staying at BWV for 5 days- and I have also rented out points with good results (I rented to TGM people which worked out better than the DIS boards)
I recommend called DVC and getting their nice glossy THICK brochure, but then checking into a resale. We bought from the Timeshare Store- which was great because it was cheaper, and on your next trip swing by their office to say hi and you get a Huge free gift basket, filled with stuff from The Basin- massage bars, lotions, oils, sponges, all sorts of things to enjoy in those big jacuzzis the villas have. ;)

I just custom ordered from this Voldemort seller to match some of DDs outfits- and got this design in different colors- arent these just too cute!
th_274f_1.JPG

Would you mind pming me with the seller id? TIA!

:rotfl2: I made matching shirts for our whole family. They're t-shirts with iron-ons that have our names surrounded by Disney characters (from the DISigner board). On my shirt and Teresa's shirt, I put a lime green Mickey head on the back that says "Do you Dis? disboards.com HeatherSue" (Teresa's says Teresajoy, obviously). Anyway, Henry told me that if I keep making this dorky stuff he won't be seen with me. :rotfl2:

I would SO wear those Mickey ears in my hair!! They're so cute!

I also intend to wear my Cinderella crown.

My husband says the exact same thing! Last year my sister called (she was joking with him but playing it serious since she knew it would get him!) before we went and said that she had bought all of the adults shirts for everyday of the parks while we were there that were all identical so that way we could find each other easily if we got separated. I thought he was going to die by the look on his face!

Count me as a new follower ... I'm officially inspired. Now ...., where is the dust cloth to wipe the cobwebs off of my machine?

Love your outfits! No wonder you got so much attention! The girls are adorable too!

We figured out it would take approximately 7 years for it to become a value. Does that make sense?
I think we bought 230pts @77 pr pt for OKW, Sept use year.
If I were to do it again I would pay more attention to the use year. I didnt really get how important that was.
For example- We always take our vacations in May, so we either have to borrow points from the upcoming year, or bank and use points we saved from the previous year.
On the other hand it works brillantly for going on a big vacay- like Hawaii. You can bank points from 1 year, then borrow points from the next year so you are working with 3 years worth of points.
You DO have to pay annual maintence fees. Each resort varies and it varies based on how many points you buy.
I would LOOOOVE to own at the new AKV, although buying those will put you at a premium price.
We own at OKW, which has the largest rooms. We can book there 12 months out- at 7 months out you can request other DVC properties. Because of this, last minute vacations can be a tad challenging. For example a month and half ago we decided we wanted to go, I was gonna book OKW for the dates I wanted- May 2-6, but DH really wanted BWV- which wasnt available til the tail end of the month, so we took that instead. If I didnt own at DVC I never would have paid the prices of BWI.

I am so jealous! I am trying to talk my DH into doing DVC and I think he would do it if we had the money just sitting around, unfortunately, not the case! One of these days though I hope! I know in the long run it would save us money though.

I just bought this fabric on clearance for our upcoming cruise. Is it too "girly" for boys? I would like my kids to match. Anyone have any other cruise custom ideas?

I bought some sailboat fabric that had a navy background from Joann's (if I ever finish my bibs for my darling nephew I'll show it!) that was pretty cute. They also had one that I saw the other day that had all of the different nautical flags on it.

Hey ladies, I just wanted to sign off (for now). We leave for DLR on Saturday and I still have so much left to do - and not just sewing. I'm going to try very hard to pull myself away from the computer for the rest of the week. I hope to have lots of photos to share when we get back. To make things easier for me when I get back, I'd like to ask everyone to stop posting in my absence so I don't have so much to catch up on. :rotfl:

I love google but sometimes it is hard to find the right search terms to narrow down the results to just what is relevant.

Have a great trip! Enjoy yourself and we can't wait to see the pictures!

(at least I can pack the shorts without worrying about needing them before we go!)

th_1b4bb071.jpg

Beautiful job! I can't believe the way you can just "whip" things up! Fantastic!

I remember you! How have you been? So good to see you posting again!
Thanks! It's good to be back! I have been ok, coping with DHs deployment and all. Busy, susy being a single parent. I haven't sewed in awhile so you ladies need to kick my butt into gear!

And I finally finished the monsters Inc outfits. I psyched myself up this past week. I wish that I could have found a shade deeper thread, but that was the best that I could do.

And Cooper's response to seeing the finished Mike shirts was "good job, mommy, soooo where is the big guy, you know the one with TWO eyes". Yeah, not going to even try that one!!

I love the fabric on the shorts! You did a great job!
